Introduction:Global estimates determined that there would be 14.1 million new cases of cancer and 8.2 million deaths from ***:To determine the adjusted mortality rates of the 5 most frequent primary sites of cancer and the mortality rates of the 5 most frequent primary in Brazil,between 1979 and ***:Epidemiological study between 1979 and 2015 based on data obtained from the Online Atlas of Mortality provided by the National Cancer Institute of Brazil(INCA)using information on cancer deaths obtained within the System of Information on Mortality(SIM)of Brazil Ministry of ***:When analyzing the mortality rate of the 5 most frequent primary sites by type of cancer from 1979 to 2015 for both sexes,we show that in the year 2015 the cancers with the highest rates are:bronchi and lungs,breast,stomach,prostate and unknown primary location.A total of 527,980 deaths from bronchial and lung neoplasms were recorded,304,546 deaths from breast cancer were recorded,407,611 deaths from stomach cancer were recorded,268,061 deaths from prostate cancer were recorded,and 257,357 deaths due to neoplasia of unknown primary location were *** we analyze the world standard rate and Brazil’s standard rate for mortality,we show that Brazil has higher values for the 5 most frequent primary sites by type of ***:The epidemiological study of these values aims to determine what are the main descriptors and characteristics to determine preventive measures against the increase of this disease.

Diagnostic Value between 1984 and 2018 of Transrectal Biopsy Guided by Ultrasonography after Radical Prostatectomy

Introduction:The histological diagnosis of prostate cancer is commonly based on morphological *** presence of malignant tissue mixed with benign tissue,or the presence of carcinoma that mimics benignity may generate difficulty in the diagnostic ***,the application of immunohistochemistry contributes its diagnostic ***:To evaluate the 34βE12 marker in the detection of adenocarcinoma(ADn),atypical small acinar proliferation(ASAp),regular prostatic tissue(RPT)and regular prostatic tissue alternated by atrophy spotlights(RPTa)in transrectal biopsy guided by ultrasonography of patients with suspected prostate ***:Analysis of 34 patients who underwent ultrasound-guided transrectal biopsy with subsequent analysis by H&E staining and 34βE12 labeling for elucidation of neoplasms or diseased tissues with doubtful ***:The marker 34βE12 showed negativity in 100%of the neoplasms ADn,positivity in 100%of the benign prostatic tissues(RPT and RPTa);the patients with ASAp presented positivity(20%)and negativity(80%).The chi-square test(χ2)showed that there is an association(χ2=29.55 and pdern era,pathologists have become increasingly challenged to diagnose small outbreaks of cancer when only a few atypical glands are present in transrectal biopsy-guided *** 34βE12 marker becomes an important tool in elucidating diagnoses such as ADn and ASAp.

Modeling uncertainties of reservoir flushing simulations

Every dam or barrage construction affects the watercourse and the retention of sediment that previously was carried by the river, which can lead to siltation of the reservoir and obstruction of water intakes over time, reducing their capacities. However, the information available regarding the effect of sediment and drawdown parameters, sediment management at reservoirs, as well as different equational approaches,is scarce. The current research aims to evaluate the effect of parameters associated with numerical modeling of sediment management in reservoirs considering scenarios with different drawdowns,transport equations, sediment size distributions, and thickness of the initial sediment layer. The case study of the Aimore s Hydropower Plant(HPP) is used, applying the delft3D-FLOW model for twodimensional modeling. All parameters influenced the volume of mobilized sediment, among which the initial layer thickness was the parameter that resulted in the greatest changes in simulated results. In general, the results show that the uncertainties in the input parameters outweigh the uncertainties between the techniques, which found large variations in results when evaluating the use of different transport equations. These results indicate the importance of proper estimation of model parameters for predicting effects with accuracy and the need for such studies before planning and management operations are evaluated to avoid environmental harm and energy waste.

Clinical and pathological characterization of epstein-barr virus-associated gastric carcinomas in portugal

AIM To determine the prevalence of epstein-barr virus(eb V)-associated gastric carcinomas in the North Region of Portugal and to study its clinicopathological characteristics. METHODS We have performed a retrospective study including a total of 179 consecutive patients with gastric cancer(GC) submitted to gastrectomy during 2011 at the Portuguese Oncology Institute of Porto. Clinical and pathological data was collected from individual clinical records and inserted on a database with unique codification. Tumour tissues were collected from the institutional tumour bank. eb V was detected by in situ hybridization for the detection of eb V-encoded small RNAs(ebe Rs) and eb V latent proteins(LMP1 and LMP2 A) were detected by *** The analysis showed that eb V-associated gastric carcinomas(eb Va GC) represents 8.4%(15/179) of all GC cases, with a significant differential distribution among histological types(P denosquamous carcinoma, 8.7%(8/92) of tubular adenocarcinomas, 8.0%(2/25) of mixed carcinomas and 2%(1/51) in poorly cohesive carcinomas. The analysis revealed a higher predominance of eb Va GC in the upper third and middle(cardia, fundus and body) of the stomach(P = 0.041), a significant lower number of regional lymph nodes invasion(P = 0.025) and a tendency for better prognosis(P = 0.222). eb V latent protein expression revealed that all eb Va GC cases were LMP1-negative, nevertheless 6 cases(40%) expressed LPM2 A, which reveals that these cases show a distinct eb V-Latency profile(latency II-like).CONCLUSION eb Va GC represents 8.4% of all GC in the North Region of Portugal. The eb V-infected patients have specific clinic-pathological features that should be further explored to develop new strategies of management and treatment.

Elevated homocysteine levels in human immunodeficiency virus-infected patients under antiretroviral therapy: A meta-analysis

AIM: To evaluate the association between the levels of homocysteine(Hcy), folate, vitamin B12 in human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-infected patients who were treated with antiretroviral therapy(ART) or not treated with ***: The Pub Med and Scielo databases were searched. Eligible studies regarding plasma Hcy level in HIV-infected patients were firstly identified. After careful analysis by two independent researches, the identified articles were included in the review according to two outcomes(1) Hcy, folate and vitamin B12 blood concentration in HIV-infected subjects vs health controls and;(2) Hcy blood concentration in HIV-infected subjects under ART vs not treated with ART. RevM an(version 5.2) was employed for data ***: A total of 12 studies were included in outcome 1(1649 participants, 932 cases and 717 controls). Outcome 1 meta-analysis demonstrated higher plasma Hcy(2.05 μmol/L; 95% CI: 0.10 to 4.00, P decreased plasma folate concentrations(-2.74 ng/m L; 95%CI:-5.18 to-0.29, P ded in the outcome 2 meta-analysis(1167 participants; 404 HIVinfected exposed to ART and 757 HIV-infected non-ART patients) demonstrated higher mean Hcy concentration in subjects HIV-infected under ART compared to nonART HIV subjects(4.13 μmol/L; 95%CI: 1.34 to 6.92, P demonstrated that the levels of Hcy and folate, but not vitamin B12, were associated with HIV infection. In addition, Hcy levels were higher in HIV-infected patients who were under ART compared to HIV-infected patients who were not exposed to ART. Our results suggest that hyperhomocysteinemia should be included among the several important metabolic disturbances that are associated with ART in patients with HIV infection.

Faced with the rupture of the Vale *** dam that hit the city of Brumadinho(MG),the article sought to better understand the organisation of work of military firefighters who participated in the search and rescue operation and the relationship between work and health present in this *** is qualitative research with a focus on the subjective production of the speeches of seven firefighters who were interviewed individually with a semi-structured script,using as a basis of analysis the ergological perspective and the productions of the psychodynamics of *** firefighters experienced a scenario with risks of injury,contamination,and even *** the interviews,they showed that the more than twelve hours of work were responsible for sleep problems during and after the performance,as well as the food provided and the lack of time for physical exercise proved to be aggravating factors for their *** in the tailing’s mud combined the development of musculoskeletal problems and anxiety,due to the possibility of contamination by metals present in the *** work relationships show a high degree of trust and recognition between the firefighters and the affected population,which helped in the motivation and continuation of the operation until the present *** work in this operation that gained national prominence was responsible for the feeling of pride and for feeling more capable and prepared to act in other *** research is expected to broaden the discussion about the work-health relationship of military firefighters exposed to disasters,as well as serve as a subsidy to encourage the creation of public policies focused on the health of these workers.

Reality named endoscopic ultrasound biliary drainage

Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS) is used for diagnosis and evaluation of many diseases of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. In the past, it was used to guide a cholangio-graphy, but nowadays it emerges as a powerful thera-peutic tool in biliary drainage. The aims of this review are: outline the rationale for endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage(EGBD); detail the procedural technique; evaluate the clinical outcomes and limitations of the method; and provide recommendations for the practicing clinician. In cases of failed endoscopic retro-grade cholangiopancreatography(ERCP), patients are usually referred for either percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage(PTBD) or surgical bypass. Both these procedures have high rates of undesirable complications. EGBD is an attractive alternative to PTBD or surgery when ERCP fails. EGBD can be performed at two locations: transhepatic or extrahepatic, and the stent can be inserted in an antegrade or retrograde fashion. The drainage route can be transluminal, duodenal or trans-papillary, which, again, can be antegrade or retrograde [rendezvous(EUS-RV)]. Complications of all techniques combined include pneumoperitoneum, bleeding, bile leak/peritonitis and cholangitis. We recommend EGBD when bile duct access is not possible because of failed cannulation, altered upper GI tract anatomy, gastric outlet obstruction, a distorted ampulla or a periampullary diverticulum, as a minimally invasive alternative to surgery or radiology.
