Background Salpingitis is one of the common diseases in laying hen production, which greatly decreases the economic outcome of laying hen farming. A transformation of naphthalene-based coalescenced mesophase pitch(NMP)to mesophase microbeads was achieved by heating a mixture of NMP and fullerene(C_(60)).This is different from the conventional process of the liquid-phase carbonization of isotropic pitch to the emergence of carbon microbeads in the matrix and finally their growth to form a 100%anisotropic bulk meso-phase,but rather a reverse *** effects of C_(60) loading and reaction temperature on the morphological transformation of mesophase were investigated by polarizing optical and scanning electron *** physical changes in the NMP induced by C_(60) were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray diffractometry and Raman *** results show that the coalesced NMP can be converted to a spherical type at 300-320℃ with the addition of 5%C_(60),and the size of the mesophase microbeads increases with increasing ***,a model is established to ex-plain the unique induction effect of C_(60) in the transformation *** work makes the morphological transformation of MP con-trollable,and provides a new idea for the understanding and research of mesophase pitch.

OBJECTIVE: To systematically assess the effects of individualized Chinese medicines on recurrent urinary tract infections(rUTIs).METHODS: This study recruited 230 adult female patients in the remission phase of rUTIs from five hospitals in China. The patients were randomly allocated to two groups: an individualized Chinese medicine group(n = 114) and a control group(n = 116). Patients in the Chinese medicine group received individualized Chinese herbs, which were evaluated for syndrome *** in the control group received antibiotic treatment combined with a Chinese medicine placebo. The duration of treatment was three courses of four weeks each, with a three-month subsequent follow-up. UTI recurrence rate,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) syndrome scores,36-item Short Form Survey(SF-36) score, and urine secretory immunoglobulin A(SIgA) were measured and analyzed before and after treatment in each group. RESULTS: Patients from the Chinese medicine group exhibited significant decreases in both short-and longterm UTI recurrence rates compared with the control group(P < 0.05). The changes in TCM syndrome scores between the Chinese medicine and control groups were significant(P < 0.05). The changes in the average SF-36 quality-of-life scores in the Chinese medicine group were also significantly higher than those in the control group after treatment(P < 0.05). The Chinese medicine group also demonstrated a significant increase in urine SIg A expression. CONCLUSION: Taken together, compared to the oftenused long-term antimicrobial prophylaxis during the remission stage of r UTIs, treating patients with an individualized Chinese medicine decoction by syndrome differentiation could effectively reduce the recurrence rate, improve the patients' TCM syndrome scores and quality of life, and enhance immunity, which in turn helps to prevent antibiotic resistance.

Panicle architecture is an agronomic determinant of crop yield and a target for cereal crop *** investigate its molecular mechanisms in rice,we performed map-based cloning and characterization of OPEN PANICLE 1(OP1),a gain-of-function allele of LIGULELESS 1(LG1),controlling the spread-panicle *** allele results from a 48-bp deletion in the LG1 upstream region and promotes pulvinus development at the base of the primary *** OP1 expression and altered panicle phenotype in chimeric transgenic plants and upstream-region knockout mutants indicated that the deletion regulates spread-panicle architecture in the mutant spread panicle 1(sp1).Knocking out BRASSINOSTEROID UPREGULATED1(BU1)gene in the background of OP1 complementary plants resulted in compact panicles,suggesting OP1 may regulate inflorescence architecture via the brassinosteroid signaling *** regard that manipulating the upstream regulatory region of OP1 or genes involved in BR signal pathway could be an efficient way to improve rice inflorescence architecture.

Given the difficulties in rescuing and ensuring the quality of long-term climate data,current studies on century-scale climate change are usually limited to annual and monthly data,resulting in the poor detection of extreme climate events and their changes before *** this study,we reconstructed a daily precipitation series for Tianjin from 15 September 1887 to 31 December 2022 on the basis of the most comprehensive daily precipitation records collected from the Tianjin Meteorological Archive,China,and in reference to the precipitation analysis results based on the datasets developed by the Climatic Research Unit Time-Series version 4.06,Global Precipitation Climatology Centre and University of Delaware along with the application of various homogenisation methods for climate *** approach provides a complete and reliable century-long daily precipitation series for the study of regional or local extreme weather and climate *** reconstructed daily dataset reveals that the annual precipitation amount and R95 intensity in Tianjin during 1888-2022 lack significant trends and have values of 0.74±6.99 and-1.84±3.22 mm per decade,*** the annual and seasonal scales,the precipitation amount and R95 intensity,particularly those in autumn,have increased since the latter half of the 20th century relative to those in ***,the increase in precipitation amount and R95 intensity is relatively limited compared with that in atmospheric water vapour content due to surface warming,indicating the highly sensitive response of extreme precipitation events to *** addition,the estimates for the return periods of 5,10,20,50 and 100 years covering 1888-2022,1888-1950 and 1951-2022 depict that the intensity of heavy rain and above magnitude was highest in 1888-1950 and decreased in 1951-2022.

With the continuous development of the oblique photography technique, it has been used more and more widely in the field of geological disasters. It can quickly obtain the three-dimensional(3D) real scene model of dangerous mountainous areas under the premise of ensuring the safety of personnel while restoring the real geographic information as much as possible. However, geological disaster areas are often accompanied by many adverse factors such as cliffs and dense vegetation. Based on this, the paper introduced the flight line design of oblique photogrammetry, analyzed the multi-platform data fusion processing, studied the multi-period data dynamic evaluation technology and proposed the application methods of data acquisition, early warning, disaster assessment and decision management suitable for geological disaster identification through the analysis of actual cases, which will help geologists to plan and control geological work more scientifically and rationally, improve work efficiency and reduce the potential personnel safety hazards in the process of geological survey, to offer technical support to the application of oblique photogrammetry in geological disaster identification and decision making and provide the scientific basis for personal and property safety protection and later-stage geological disaster management in disaster areas.

Direct methanol fuel cell technology recently becomes the focus of both academic and engineering circles,which stimulates the exploitation and utilization of advanced electrode catalysts with high activity and long ***,we demonstrate a robust bottom-up approach to the spatial construction of three-dimensional(3D) spinel manganese-cobalt oxide-modified N-doped graphene nanoarchitectures decorated with ultrasmall Pt nanoparticles(Pt/MnCo_(2)O_(4)-NG) via a controllable selfassembly *** incorporation of MnCo_(2)O_(4)nanocrystals provides abundant hydroxyl sources to promote the oxidative removal of CO-like byproducts on Pt sites,while the existence of 3D porous N-doped graphene networks facilitates the transportation of both ions and electrons in the hybrid system,thus giving rise to remarkable synergetic coupling effects during the methanol oxidation ***,the optimized Pt/MnCo_(2)O_(4)-NG nano architecture expres ses exceptional electrocatalytic properties with a large electrochemically active surface area of 99.5 m^(2)·g^(-1),a high mass activity of1508.3 mA·mg^(-1),strong toxicity resistance and reliable long-term durability,which have obvious competitive advantages over those of conventional Pt/carbon black,Pt/carbon nano tube,Pt/graphene,and Pt/N-doped graphene catalysts with the same Pt usage.
