BACKGROUND Gastric submucosal arterial dilation resulting from splenic artery occlusion represents an exceedingly rare etiology of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding(UGIB).Although endoscopy is a widely utilized diagnostic and therapeutic modality for gastrointestinal bleeding,it has limitations in detecting arterial *** SUMMARY This report presents a rare case of massive UGIB in a 57-year-old male with a tortuous left inferior phrenic artery accompanied by splenic artery occlusion.“Gastric varices”was identified during the patient's endoscopy one year before *** initial hemostasis by endoscopic clipping,the patient experienced massive rebleeding after one month,requiring intervention with transcatheter arterial embolization(TAE)to achieve *** This is the first case to report UGIB due to a tortuous left inferior phrenic *** case highlights the limitations of endoscopy in identifying arterial abnormalities and emphasizes the potential of TAE as a viable alternative for the management of arterial bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract.

Quantitative characterizations of anisotropic dynamic properties in organic-rich shale with different kerogen content

Understanding the quantitative responses of anisotropic dynamic properties in organic-rich shale with different kerogen content(KC)is of great significance in hydrocarbon exploration and *** controlled experiments with a single variable is challenging for natural shales due to their high variations in components,diagenesis conditions,or pore *** employed the hot-pressing technique to construct 11 well-controlled artificial shale with varying *** artificial shale samples were successive machined into prismatic shape for ultrasonic measurements along different *** revealed bedding perpendicular P-wave velocities are more sensitive to the increasing KC than bedding paralleling velocities due to the preferential alignments of *** elastic stiffnesses except C_(13)are generally decreasing with the increasing KC,the variation of C_(1) and C_(33)on kerogen content are more sensitive than those of C_(44)and C_(66).Apparent dynamic mechanical parameters(v and E)were found to have linear correlation with the true ones from complete anisotropic equations independent of KC,which hold value towards the interpretation of well logs consistently across formations,Anisotropic mechanical parameters(ΔE and brittlenessΔB)tend to decrease with the reducing KC,withΔB showing great sensitivity to KC *** the range of low KC(10%)shale,compilation of data from natural organic rich-shales globally verified the similar systematic relationships that can be empirically used to predict the fraction of KC in shales.

Comparison of biliary protein spectrum in gallstone patients with obesity and those with normal body weight

Background: Obesity is a common public health issue and is currently deemed a disease. Research has shown that the risk of gallstones in individuals with obesity is elevated. This study aimed to explore the bile proteomics differences between cholelithiasis patients with obesity and normal body weight. Methods: Bile samples from 20 patients(10 with obesity and 10 with normal body weight) who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy at our center were subjected to tandem mass tag labeling(TMT) and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS), followed by further bioinformatic analysis. Results: Among the differentially expressed proteins, 23 were upregulated and 67 were downregulated. Bioinformatic analysis indicated that these differentially expressed proteins were mainly involved in cell development, inflammatory responses, glycerolipid metabolic processes, and protein activation cascades. In addition, the activity of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor(PPAR, a subfamily of nuclear receptors) signaling pathway was decreased in the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) enrichment analysis. Two downregulated proteins in the PPAR signaling pathway, APO A-Ⅰ and APO A-Ⅱ, were confirmed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Conclusions: The PPAR signaling pathway may play a crucial role in the development of cholelithiasis among patients with obesity. Furthermore, biliary proteomics profiling of gallstones patients with obesity is revealed, providing a reference for future research.

Ischaemic reperfusion injury （IRI） is a crucial element in the pathogenesis of acute ischaemic renal failure and influences the early functional recovery and even long term survival of a transplanted kidney. It is generally thought that renal repair following IRI requires the replacement or regeneration of renal tubular epithelial cells that are detached or damaged.1＇2 Recently, it has been reported that intravenously infused adult bone marrow-derived stem cells （BMSCs） are able to migrate to injured kidney tissue and differentiate into renal cells, potentially improving renal function.3＇4 Nevertheless, the mechanisms by which bone marrow derived, stem cells promote the repair of injured kidney tissue have not been completely elucidated by animal studies.

Convergence analysis for complementary-label learning with kernel ridge regression

Variations and future projections of glacial discharge of Urumqi River Headwaters,eastern Tien Shan(1980s-2017)

To address data scarcity on long-term glacial discharge and inadequacies in simulating and predicting hydrological processes in the Tien Shan,this study analysed the observed discharge at multiple timescales over 1980se2017 and projected changes within a representative glacierized high-mountain region:eastern Tien Shan,Central *** processes were simulated to predict changes under four future scenarios(SSP1,SSP2,SSP3,and SSP5)using a classical hydrological model coupled with a glacier dynamics *** rates at annual,monthly(June,July,August)and daily timescales were obtained from two hydrological gauges:Urumqi Glacier No.1 hydrological station(UGH)and Zongkong station(ZK).Overall,annual and summer discharge increased significantly(pping point in annual discharge at UGH may occur between 2018 and 2024 under the four SSPs *** discharge is predicted to cease earlier at ZK than at *** relates to glacier type and size,suggesting basins with heavily developed small glaciers will reach peak discharge sooner,resulting in an earlier freshwater supply *** findings serve as a reference for research into glacial runoff in Central Asia and provide a decision-making basis for planning local water-resource projects.

Creep-Resistant Covalent Adaptable Networks with Excellent SelfHealing and Reprocessing Performance via Phase-Locked Dynamic Covalent Benzopyrazole-Urea Bonds

Covalent adaptive networks(CANs)are capable of undergoing segment rearrangement after being heated,which endows the materials with excellent self-healing and reprocessing performance,providing an efficient solution to the environment pollution caused by the plastic *** main challenge remains in developing CANs with both excellent reprocessing performance and creep-resistance *** this study,a series of CANs containing dynamic covalent benzopyrazole-urea bonds were developed based on the addition reaction between benzopyrazole and isocyanate *** calculation confirmed that relatively low dissociation energy is obtained through undergoing a five-member ring transition state,confirming excellent dynamic property of the benzopyrazole-urea *** verified by the FTIR results,this nice dynamic property can be well maintained after incorporating the benzopyrazole-urea bonds into polymer *** self-healing and reprocessing performance is observed by the 3-ABP/PDMS elastomers owing to the dynamic benzopyrazole-urea *** separation induced by the aggregation of the hard segments locked the benzopyrazole-urea bonds,which also makes the elastomers display excellent creep-resistance *** hard phase locking strategy provides an efficient approach to design CANs materials with both excellent reprocessing and creep-resistance performance.

Endoscopic mucosal resection of duodenal bulb adenocarcinoma with neuroendocrine features:An extremely rare case report

Duodenal adenocarcinoma, especially duodenal bulb with neuroendocrine features(NEF), is extremely rare. Here, we report one such case of duodenal bulb adenocarcinoma with neuroendocrine features. A 63-year-old Han Chinese woman was admitted to our department with the diagnosis of a duodenal bulb polyp and underwent an endoscopic mucosal resection. The pathological findings confirmed it as duodenal bulb adenocarcinoma with NEF. The patient remains curative after one and half a years of follow-up. Duodenal adenocarcinoma with NEF might be a low malignant neuroendocrine tumor rather than a conventional adenocarcinoma. Endoscopic treatment, including endoscopic mucosal resection, might be an ideal option for the adenocarcinomas with NEF.

Furan-derived Schiff base covalent adaptable thermosets with recyclability and anti-flammability

Conventional thermosetting polymers,mostly derived from nonrenewable petroleum resources,are not reprocessable and recyclable due to their highly cross-linked three-dimensional networks and face the disadvantage of high *** solve these issues,in this study,we synthesized a novel Schiff base covalent adaptable thermoset from a furan-derived tri-aldehyde monomer(TMFP)and a furan-derived di-amine monomer(DFDA).The as-prepared TMFP-DFDA-Vitrimer exhibited superior anti-flammability with a high limiting oxygen index(LOI)of 35.0%and a UL-94 V-0 rating,which was attributed to the excellent charring ***,TMFPDFDA-Vitrimer could also be conveniently recycled by chemical decomposition under a mixed hydrochloric acid/tetrahydrofuran(HCl/THF)*** recycling for 5 times,the thermal,mechanical,and flame retardant properties of the recycled TMFP-DFDA-Vitrimer retained almost unchanged compared to the original *** work provides a prime instance to develop advanced thermosetting polymers from abundant furan-based compounds.
