BACKGROUND Giant congenital biliary dilation(CBD)is a rare condition observed in clinical practice.Infants born with this condition often experience a poor overall health status,and the disease progresses rapidly,leading to severe biliary obstruction,infections,pressure exerted by the enlarged CBD on abdominal organs,disturbances in the internal environment,and multiple organ dysfunction.The treatment of giant CBD using laparoscopy is challenging due to the high degree of variation in the shape of the bile duct and other organs,making it difficult to separate the bile duct wall from adjacent tissues or to control bleeding.CASE SUMMARY Herein,we present the details of an 11-d-old male newborn who was diagnosed with giant CBD.The patient was admitted to the neonatal surgery department of our hospital due to a history of common bile duct cyst that was detected more than 3 mo ago,and also because the patient had been experiencing yellowish skin for the past 9 d.The abnormal echo in the fetal abdomen was first noticed by the patient’s mother during a routine ultrasound examination at a local hospital,when the patient was at 24 wk+6 d of pregnancy.This finding raised concerns about the possibility of congenital biliary dilatation(22 mm×21 mm).Subsequent ultrasound examinations at different hospitals consistently confirmed the presence of a congenital biliary dilatation.No specific treatment was administered for biliary dilatation during this period.A computed tomography scan conducted during the hospitalization revealed a large cystic mass in the right upper quadrant and pelvis,measuring approximately 9.2 cm×7.4 cm×11.3 cm.Based on the CONCLUSION The analysis reveals that prenatal imaging techniques,such as ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging,play a crucial role in the early diagnosis,fetal prognosis,and treatment plan for giant CBD.Laparoscopic surgery for giant CBD presents certain challenges,including difficulties in separating the cyst wall,anastomosis,and hemostasis,as well as severe biliary system infection

Zircon is a common accessory mineral in various rocks,especially in the crustal ones.It is the best mineral for U-Pb dating.Meanwhile,trace elements and isotopes of the mineral can also provide much information concerning the formation and evolution of rocks.There are a growing number of reports of zircon existing in mantle peridotite.However,it is generally considered that zircon is unlikely crystallized in ultrabasic rocks due to SiO_(2)-unsaturation.In this paper,the SiO_(2) activity and zircon/baddeleyite transition curve at different conditions were calculated through thermodynamic phase equilibrium modeling,to reveal the main factors affecting the SiO_(2) activity and the stability of zircon/baddeleyite in ultrabasic and basic rocks,especially in mantle peridotite.These results provide a thermodynamic basis for interpreting the genesis and significance of zircon in mantle rocks.That is,the SiO_(2) activity is mainly controlled by stable mineral assemblages and temperature-pressure conditions.The orthopyroxene+olivine assemblage in peridotite as an effective buffer restricts the SiO_(2) activity in a relatively high range with a small variation.The upper temperature limit of zircon can reach more than 1500℃ with this mineral assemblage.During the low-temperature serpentinization of peridotite,the replacement of olivine and pyroxene by serpentine can result in a significant decrease of SiO_(2) activity,and baddeleyite can be stabilized at<530℃ and<2.7 GPa.When peridotite is strongly metasomatized by the SiO_(2)-bearing fluid,the addition of SiO_(2) can increase its activity and make zircon stable at low temperatures.The SiO_(2) activity in ultrabasic-basic rocks is not only positively correlated with the SiO_(2) content but also negatively correlated with the Ca and Na contents of rocks.This is because Ca and Na preferentially combine with Si and Al to form Si-rich minerals,such as clinopyroxene and feldspar.This process will consume excessive SiO_(2),decreasing the SiO_(2) activity.This may be the reason why

The non-Gaussianity of quantum states incarnates an important resource for improving the performance of continuous-variable quantum information protocols.We propose a novel criterion of non-Gaussianity for single-mode rotationally symmetric quantum states via the squared Frobenius norm of higher-order cumulant matrix for the quadrature distribution function.As an application,we study the non-Gaussianities of three classes of single-mode symmetric non-Gaussian states:a mixture of vacuum and Fock states,single-photon added thermal states,and even/odd Schr¨odinger cat states.It is shown that such a criterion is faithful and effective for revealing non-Gaussianity.We further extend this criterion to two cases of symmetric multi-mode non-Gaussian states and non-symmetric single-mode non-Gaussian states.

The type I system is the most widely distributed CRISPR-Cas system identified so far.Recently,we have revealed the natural reprogramming of the type I CRISPR effector for gene regulation with a crRNA-resembling RNA in halophilic archaea.Here,we conducted a comprehensive study of the impact of redesigned crRNAs with different spacer lengths on gene regulation with the native type I-B CRISPR system in Haloarcula hispanica.When the spacer targeting the chromosomal gene was shortened from 36 to 28 bp,transformation efficiencies of the spacer-encoding plasmids were improved by over three orders of magnitude,indicating a significant loss of interference.However,by conducting whole-genome sequencing and measuring the growth curves of the hosts,we still detected DNA cleavage and its influence on cell growth.Intriguingly,when the spacer was shortened to 24 bp,the transcription of the target gene was downregulated to 10.80%,while both interference and primed adaptation disappeared.By modifying the lengths of the spacers,the expression of the target gene could be suppressed to varying degrees.Significantly,by designing crRNAs with different spacer lengths and targeting different genes,we achieved simultaneous gene editing(cdc6E)and gene regulation(crtB)for the first time with the endogenous type I CRISPR-Cas system.

In China,there are 544,000 sudden deaths each year.Cardiac arrest is one of the most common causes of sudden death,and 70%of cardiac arrests occur outside the hospital.[1,2]However,fewer than 1%of bystanders at cardiac arrest deaths in China are well-trained and capable of administering first aid.[3]Therefore,it is urgent to popularize first-aid knowledge in the Chinese population.

CTP synthase(CTPS)is an important metabolic enzyme that catalyzes the rate-Iimiting reaction of nucleotide CrP de novo synthesis.Since 2010,a series of studies have demonstrated that CTPS can form filamentous structures in bacteria and eukaryotes,which are termed cytoophidia.However,it is unknown whether cytoophidia exist in the third domain of life,archaea.Using Haloarcula hispanica as a model system,here we demonstrate that CTPS forms distinct intracellular compartments in archaea.Under stimulated emission depletion microscopy,we find that the structures of H.hispanica CTPS are elongated,similar to cytoophidia in bacteria and eukaryotes.When Haloarcula cells are cultured in lowsalt medium,the occurrence of cytoophidia increases dramatically.In addition,treatment of H.hispanica with a glutamine analog or overexpression of CTPS can promote cytoophidium assembly.Our study reveals that CTPS can fo rm cytoophidia in all three domains of life,suggesting that forming cytoophidia is an ancient property of CTPS.

In the report the basic principles of new approach to the study of transport processes in porous medium are represented. The ＂percolation＂ approach has arisen as an attempt to overcome the traditional phenomenological approach in the underground hydromechanics, based on the assumption of continuity of saturated porous media, which does not allow to explain and to model a number of effects arising from the fluids flow in porous media. The results obtained are very interesting not only from the scientific point of view but as the scientific basis for a number of enhanced oil recovery technologies.
