Petrogenesis, oxidation state and volatile content of Dongga tonalite in the Gangdese belt, Xizang: Implication for porphyry Cu mineralization

The Gangdese belt in Xizang has experienced both Jurassic subduction and Cenozoic continental collision processes, making it a globally renowned region for magmatic rocks and porphyry copper deposits. Numerous Jurassic intrusions have been identified in the belt. Apart from the quartz diorite porphyry in the large Xietongmen deposit, the Cu mineralization potential of other Jurassic intrusions in this belt remains unclear. This study presents zircon U–Pb dating and trace elements, apatite major and trace elements as well as published whole-rock geochemical and isotopic data of the Dongga tonalite in the central part of the Gangdese belt, aiming to reveal the petrogenesis, oxidation state, volatile content, and Cu mineralization potential of this intrusion. The Dongga tonalite has a zircon U–Pb age of 179.4 ± 0.9 Ma. It exhibits high whole-rock V/Sc values(8.76–14.6), relatively low apatite CeN/CeN*ratios(1.04–1.28), elevated zircon(Eu/Eu*)Nvalues(an average of 0.44), high Ce4+/Ce3+values(205–1896), and high ?FMQ values(1.3–3.7), collectively suggesting a high magmatic oxygen fugacity. The Dongga tonalite features amphibole phenocrysts, relatively high whole-rock Sr/Y ratios(20.3–58.9), and lower zircon Ti temperatures (502–740 ℃), reflecting a high magmatic water content. Estimation of magmatic sulfur content(0.002–0.024 wt%) based on apatite SO3contents indicates an enriched magma sulfur content. Combined with previous studies and the collected Sr–Nd–Hf isotopes, the Dongga tonalite is derived from juvenile lower crust related with subduction of the Neo-Tethys oceanic slab. When compared with Xietongmen orebearing porphyries, the Dongga tonalite exhibits remarkable similarities with the Xietongmen ore-bearing porphyries in terms of magma source, tectonic background, magmatic redox state, and volatile components, which indicates that the Dongga tonalite has a high porphyry Cu mineralization potential, and therefore, provides important guidance for the future mineralization exploration.

Accurate characterization of bubble mixing uniformity in a circular region using computational geometric theory

The present study proposes a novel method based on the geometric theory for measuring the distribution of bubble swarms in the circular region of a direct-contact heat exchanger.It was determined that the mixing is uniform when the average distance between the bubble swarms in the unit circular region is approximately 0.9054,which is the standard reference value.The effect of sample size(i.e.,the number of bubbles)on mixing uniformity was investigated to determine the optimal sample size.It was verified that the metric's accuracy and stability were higher with a sample size of 155.Accordingly,it was proposed to increase the sample size by filling irregular bubbles using a segmentation method,which enabled a further accurate assessment of the mixing uniformity.The mixing uniformity of bubble swarms in the circular region and its maximum internal connection with the square region was accurately quantified.It was revealed that the relative average error increased by approximately 3.47% due to information loss.The proposed method was demonstrated to be rotationally invariant.The present study provided novel insights into evaluating mixing uniformity,which would guide enhanced heat transfer and the effective evaluation of the spatiotemporal characteristics of transient mixing in circular regions or the cross-sections of chemical transport pipelines.

A synergetic strategy of NIR-Ⅱ squaraine dyes with ultrahigh photothermal conversion efficiency for photothermal therapy

Recent research on photothermal therapy(PTT) has sparked significant interest in the development of new organic photothermal agents(PTAs),ranging from single-molecule to aggregated levels.However,controlling aggregation pathways for PTAs with ultrahigh photothermal conversion efficiency(PCE) remains a major challenge.Herein,a two-pronged approach utilizing “Haggregation” and “intramolecular motion” was employed to enhance the PCE of an acceptor-substituted squaraine dye(NSQs).The C2vmolecular symmetry of the NSQs,which possess a ground state dipole moment(μg),promotes H-dimeric aggregates through dipole-dipole counteraction.Peripheral triphenylethylene or diphenylamine groups were added to this H-dimeric nanoplatform.This was done to enhance intramolecular motions for heat generation and also to extend conjugation,which redshifted the optical absorption and balanced the blue-shift induced by H-aggregation.With this technique,an organic PTA with NIR-II absorption was developed,and its nanoparticle achieved a remarkable PCE of 86.3% under 1,064 nm laser excitation.Femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy and quantum mechanical calculations demonstrated the accelerated internal conversion process in NIR-II PTAs for rapid heat generation.The NSQs nanoparticles exhibit superior photothermal therapeutic properties for in vivo photoacoustic imaging-guided PTT,demonstrating the potential of bottom-up design to enable synergistic engineering strategies towards efficient phototheranostic agents.

Neutrophils constitute a significant portion of the immune cells present within the tumor microenvironment.Evidence generated by our group has confirmed neutrophils to be an adverse independent prognostic factor affecting the disease-free survival of gastric carcinoma(GC)patients.1 Neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs),protein-covered DNA webs that interact with tumor cells in the tumor microenvironment,were detected in GC tissues and found to clinically associated with disease progression in our previous study.2 NETosis could be mediated by a series of agonists,such as interleukin 8(IL-8).3 However,the mechanism of IL-8 in the progression of GC occurs via NETs remains unclear.In this study,we identified that IL-8-mediated NETosis can promote the proliferation,migration,and invasion of GC cells in vitro,which can be abrogated by NET degradation through deoxyribonucleaseI(DNase I)or IL-8 suppression through neutralizing antibodies.Disruption of NETs by DNase I or blockade of the IL-8-CXC chemokine receptor 2(CXCR2)axis could result in growth retardation in mouse models.We also confirmed that NETs may influence the biological behavior of GC cells by up-regulating the expression of transcription factor IB-related factor 1(BRF1)and cyclin p21/p27.

Electrocatalytic performance of CNTs/graphene composited rare earth phthalocyanines(M=La,Y,Yb,Sc)

In this study,a class of rare earth composite sandwich phthalocyanines(MPcs,M=La,Y,Yb,Sc) were prepared and compounded with graphene and carbon nanotubes to obtain MPc/Gr and MPc/CNTs composites.The electrocatalytic behaviors of MPc/Gr and MPc/CNTs electrodes were further investigated.The results show that the central rare earth metal has a large influence on the electrocatalytic performance.For the MPcs/Gr samples,ScPc with the smallest ionic radius and molecular size can be more uniformly dispersed in graphene,and the hydrogen precipitation overpotential of ScPc/Gr electrode is514 mV,corresponding to a Tafel slope of 148 mV/dec,with better electrocatalytic performance than other rare earth metal phthalocyanines.As for the MPc/CNTs composites,LaPc,which has the largest ionic radius and molecular size,is more uniformly dispersed on the surface of CNTs,so that the LaPc/CNT electrode exhibits the best LSV performance with the smallest corresponding Tafel slope(176 mV/dec).The main reason is the different binding modes of MPcs molecules in Gr and CNTs.When rare earth phthalocyanine is combined with layered graphene,the smallest size of rare earth phthalocyanine(ScPc)is more easily embedded in the graphene layer,resulting in better homogeneity of the composite,larger effective contact area and better electrocatalytic performance.In contrast,when rare earth phthalocyanine is bound to carbon nanotubes in a tubular structure,it is mainly bound by attaching to the surface or being entangled by the carbon nanotubes.In this case,the rare-earth phthalocyanine molecules(LaPc)with larger layer spacing can provide more contact area with CNTs,forming a more uniform and effective composite,which eventually provides more active sites and better electrocatalytic performance.

Numerical investigation of sinusoidal pulsating gas intake to intensify the gas-slag momentum transfer in the top-blown smelting furnace

The variation characteristics of bubble morphology and the thermal-physical properties of bubble boundary in the top-blown smelting furnace were explored by means of the computational fluid dynamics method.The essential aspects of the fluid phase(e.g.,splashing volume,dead zone of copper slag,and gas penetration depth)were explored together with the effect of sinusoidal pulsating gas intake on the momentum-transfer performance between phases.The results illustrated that two relatively larger vortices and two smaller vortices appear in the bubble waist and below the lance,respectively.The expansion of larger ones as well as the shrinking of smaller ones combine to cause the contraction of the bubble waist.Compared to the results of the case with a fixed gas injection velocity(V_(g)=58 m/s),the splashing volume and dead zone volume of the slag under the V_(g)=58+10sin(2πt)condition are reduced by 24.9%and 23.5%,respectively,where t represents the instant time.Gas penetration depth and slag motion velocity of the latter are 1.03 and 1.31 times high-er than those of the former,respectively.

Combined effects of sea urchin-like structure and mixed Cu^(+)/Cu^(0)states on promoting C_(2)formation in electrocatalytic CO_(2)reduction

Surface engineering and Cu valence regulation are essential factors in improving the C_(2)selectivity during the electrochemical reduction of CO_(2).Herein,we present a sea urchin-like CuO/Cu_(2)O catalyst derived from rhombic dodecahedra Cu_(2)O through one-step oxidation/etching method where the mixed Cu^(+)/Cu^(0)states are formed via in situ reduction during electrocatalysis.The combined effects of the morphology and the mixed Cu^(+)/Cu^(0)states on C–C coupling are evaluated by the Faradaic efficiency of C_(2)and the C_(2)/C1 ratio obtained in an H-cell.R-Cu^(O)/Cu_(2)O exhibited 49.5%Faradaic efficiency of C_(2)with a C_(2)/C1 ratio of 3.1 at−1.4 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode,which are 1.5 and 3.2 times higher than those of R-Cu_(2)O,respectively.Using a flow-cell,68.0%Faradaic efficiency of C_(2)is achieved at a current density of 500 mA·cm^(−2).The formation of the mixed Cu^(+)/Cu^(0)states was confirmed by in situ Raman spectra.Additionally,the sea urchin-like structure provides more active sites and enables faster electron transfer.As a result,the excellent C_(2)production on R-CuO/Cu_(2)O is primarily attributed to the synergistic effects of the sea urchin-like structure and the stable mixed Cu^(+)/Cu^(0)states.Therefore,this work presents an integrated strategy for developing Cu-based electrocatalysts for C_(2)production through electrochemical CO_(2)reduction.

Macroautophagy(referred to as autophagy hereafter)is a major intracellular lysosomal degradation pathway that is responsible for the degradation of misfolded/damaged proteins and organelles.Previous studies showed that autophagy protects against acetaminophen(APAP)-induced injury(AILI)via selective removal of damaged mitochondria and APAP protein adducts.The lysosome is a critical organelle sitting at the end stage of autophagy for autophagic degradation via fusion with autophagosomes.In the present study,we showed that transcription factor EB(TFEB),a master transcription factor for lysosomal biogenesis,was impaired by APAP resulting in decreased lysosomal biogenesis in mouse livers.Genetic loss-of and gain-of function of hepatic TFEB exacerbated or protected against AILI,respectively.Mechanistically,overexpression of TFEB increased clearance of APAP protein adducts and mitochondria biogenesis as well as SQSTM1/p62-dependent non-canonical nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(NRF2)activation to protect against AILI.We also performed an unbiased cell-based imaging high-throughput chemical screening on TFEB and identified a group of TFEB agonists.Among these agonists,salinomycin,an anticoccidial and antibacterial agent,activated TFEB and protected against AILI in mice.In conclusion,genetic and pharmacological activating TFEB may be a promising approach for protecting against AILI.

Electrochemical C-C and C-N coupling reactions with the conversion of abundant and inexpensive small molecules,such as CO_(2) and nitrogencontaining species,are considered a promising route for increasing the value of CO_(2) reduction products.The development of high-performance catalysts is the key to the both electrocatalytic reactions.In this review,we present a systematic summary of the reaction systems for electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction,along with the coupling mechanisms of C-C and C-N bonds over outstanding electrocatalytic materials recently developed.The key intermediate species and reaction pathways related to the coupling as well as the catalyst-structure relationship will be also discussed,aiming to provide insights and guidance for designing efficient CO_(2) reduction systems.

Collective Movement Simulation:Methods and Applications

Collective movement simulations are challenging and important in many areas,including life science,mathematics,physics,information science and public safety.In this survey,we provide a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art techniques for collective movement simulations.We start with a discussion on certain concepts to help beginners understand it more systematically.Then,we analyze the intelligence among different collective objects and the emphasis in different fields.Next,we classify existing collective movement simulation methods into four categories according to their effects,namely versatility,accuracy,dynamic adaptability,and assessment feedback capability.Furthermore,we introduce five applications of layout optimization,emergency control,dispatching,unmanned systems,and other derivative applications.Finally,we summarize possible future research directions.
