Effects of Eriobotrya japonica(Lindl.) flower extracts on mercuric chloride-induced hepatotoxicity in rats

Mercury(II) is an important factor in hepatotoxicity that can enter the body through marine diets and *** the present study,the protective effect of the Eriobotrya japonica flower extract(EJFE) on HgCl 2-induced hepatotoxicity was *** mg/kg of mercuric chloride in drinking water was given to rats either with saline or EJFE(100 and 200 mg/kg as intraperitoneal(IP)) for 30 *** mercury levels in different groups of liver tissues of the rats were measured with flameless atomic absorption spectroscopy(F-AAS).Also,mercury accumulation in the liver of the rats was modeled by using a parallel chemical kinetic *** results showed that HgCl 2-induced oxidative damage led to a significant decrease in glutathione(GSH) and the total antioxidant capacity(TAC) levels,and to a significant increase in lipid peroxidation *** mercury was 14.47% more in the livers of the stress groups than in those of the control groups(P<0.001),whereas the amount of Hg was adjusted to 13.49% and 13.93% in groups treated with 100 and 200 mg/kg of EJFE respectively,as compared with stress groups(P<0.001).HPLC analysis of EJFE revealed that hesperetin and gallic acid are the major antioxidants in *** demonstrate that flowers of the Eriobotrya japonica cause a significant protection against HgCl 2 induced hepatotoxicity in all diagnostic parameters by strengthening the antioxidant defense mechanisms and they may have a therapeutic function in free radical mediated diseases.

Epidemiological, molecular characterization and risk factors of human brucellosis in Iran

Objective:To determine epidemiological,molecular characterization,and potential risk factors of human ***:This descriptive study was carried out in the clinical setting in Iran between 2017 and 2018.A total of 297 participants enrolled in the *** sample size was calculated based on the occurrence rate of brucellosis in different *** were assessed using serological tests and conventional culture *** and multiplex PCR methods typed all of Brucella *** risk factors of disease were ***:A total of 141 of 297(47.5%)Brucella strains were isolated and all of them were detected as Brucella melitensis biovar *** on serologic titers,high culture positivity was recorded at 1/640 titer(P<0.006).The risk factors for brucellosis were patients older than 40 years(OR=2.23,95%CI:1.4-3.55,P=0.001),animal keeper(OR=7,95%CI:1.51-32.41,P=0.005),housewife(OR=8.76,95%CI:1.85-41.37,P=0.002),farmer(OR=6.42,95%CI:1.21-33.97,P=0.019),and contact with animal(OR=1.31,95%CI:0.60-2.85,P=0.005).Conclusions:To the best of our knowledge,this is the first comprehensive report from Iran presenting the detection of Brucella species by the multiplex *** melitensis biovar 1 is still the dominant causative agent in *** consumption of unpasteurized dairy products,living in rural areas,and animal contact were risk factors of brucellosis.

AIM: To assess our management of patients suffering from missile injuries to the maxillofacial ***: From December 2009 to September 2012, 40 patients with missile injuries(high velocity gunshot and bullet wounds, explosive injuries and shrapnel etc.) affecting the maxillofacial region were treated. All except for 2 patients were males. All had soft tissue injuries with or without bone injuries. These patients were referred to the plastic and maxillofacial surgery ward of our hospital. The patients were 19 to 65 years of age(mean 45 years). In 19 cases, there were missile injuries to other parts of the body, especially the lower extremities. All of the patients were managed by early soft tissue debridement, comprehensive reconstruction and antibiotics. This retrospective study was approved by the IRB and ethical ***: The majority of injuries were caused by high velocity projectiles(88%) and the remaining by car explosions or dynamite blasts(12%). 40 patients were treated surgically. Thirty patients had soft tissue loss(75%) and 20 patients(50%) had bone loss; there was combined soft tissue and bone loss in 10(25%) patients. Facial fractures were in the orbital bones in 10 cases, maxillary in 7, nasal in 5 and the mandible in 3 cases. We used primary repair in the majority of soft tissue defects(25 of 40 cases). Bone repair was done primarily at the same stage using miniplates, titanium screws or wires. In some cases with a bone defect, iliac bone grafts were used simultaneously or in the later stages(mandibular defects). There was no failure of bone reconstruction in our cases. Infections occurred in two cases and were treated with systemic antibiotics and dressing changes, without any long term ***: Our principles for soft tissue reconstructions were according to the reconstructive ladder and included primary repair, local flaps, skin grafts and regional flaps depending on the extent of damage. Correlation Between Magnetic Properties and Allotropic Phase Transition of Fe–Co–V Alloy

In this study, the allotropic phase transition and its effect on the magnetic behavior of Fe Co–7 wt%V alloy were investigated. It was found that c phase is observed in the microstructure in the as-cast condition, and it diminishes after severe cold rolling（90% reduction）. After annealing at temperatures higher than 500 up to 750 ℃, the c phase is observed in the structure, again. But, this phase is disappeared by annealing at temperatures above 750 ℃ due to the formation of vanadium-rich precipitates. Thermocalc software was used in order to elucidate the influence of vanadium percent on the stability of c phase in Fe–Co alloys. Also, magnetic studies showed that the saturation induction is reduced by annealing at temperatures from 500 up to 750 ℃, which is related to the formation of residual non-magnetic γ phase.

Improving pulsed laser weldability of duplex stainless steel to 5456 aluminum alloy via friction stir process reinforcing of aluminum by BNi-2 brazing alloy

Effects of laser pulse distance and reinforcing of 5456 aluminum alloy were investigated on laser weldability of Al alloy to duplex stainless steel (DSS) plates. The aluminum alloy plate was reinforced by nickel-base BNi-2 brazing powder via friction stir processing. The DSS plates were laser welded to the Al5456/BNi-2 composite and also to the Al5456 alloy plates. The welding zones were studied by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, micro-hardness and shear tests. The weld interface layer became thinner from 23 to 5 μm, as the laser pulse distance was increased from 0.2 to 0.5 mm. Reinforcing of the Al alloy modified the phases at interface layer from Al-Fe intermetallic compounds (IMCs) in the DSS/Al alloy weld, to Al-Ni-Fe IMCs in the DSS/Al composite one, since more nickel was injected in the weld pool by BNi-2 reinforcements. This led to a remarkable reduction in crack tendency of the welds and decreased the hardness of the interface layer from ~950 HV to ~600 HV. Shear strengths of the DSS/Al composite welds were significantly increased by ~150%, from 46 to 114 MPa, in comparison to the DSS/Al alloy ones.

Interaction effects of water salinity and hydroponic growth medium on eggplant yield,water-use efficiency,and evapotranspiration

Eggplant(Solanum melongena L.)is a plant native to tropical regions of Southeast *** water crisis and drought on the one hand and eggplant greenhouse crop development as one of the most popular fruit vegetables for people on the other hand,led to the need for more research on the use of saline water and water stress to optimize salinity level and their impact on eggplant evapotranspiration and encounter better yield and crop *** objective of the present study was to investigate the interactions of water salinity and hydroponic growth medium on qualitative and quantitative properties of eggplant and its water-use *** study used the factorial experiment based on completely randomized design with three replications of four levels of water salinity(electrical conductivity of 0.8(control),2.5,5,and 7 dS m^(-1))and three growth media(cocopeat,perlite,and a 50–50 mixture of the two by volume).Total yield,yield components,evapotranspiration,and water-use efficiency were determined during two growing periods,one each in 2012 and *** of these indices decreased significantly as water salinity *** with of 0.8 dS m^(-1) produced an average eggplant yield of 2510 g per plant in 2012 and 2600 g in *** highest yield was observed in *** with 7 dS m^(-1) reduced yield to 906 g per plant in 2012 and to 960 g in *** yield was observed in *** highest evapotranspiration values occurred in cocopeat at the lowest salinity in both *** and the cocopeat–perlite mixture were equally good *** mixture significantly improved the quantitative and qualitative properties of eggplant yield.

Essential oil composition of two Scutellaria species from Iran

Objective:Medicinal plants Scutellaria multicaulis and Scutellaria bornmuelleri belong to the Scutellaria genus and Lamiaceae family,and are widely used in traditional Iranian *** study aims to characterize promising bioactive phytochemicals found in the aerial parts of *** and ***:Accordingly,volatile oils were obtained by hydrodistillation of *** and *** leaves and stems,and then analyzed by gas chromatographyemass spectrometry(GC/MS).Results:A total of 88 components,representing 92.4%of the oil(oil yield determined to be 0.53%,v/w),were identified in the essential oils of *** main group was sesquiterpene hydrocarbons(24%),with a-himachalene(7.2%),a-longipinene(6.8%),and a-copaene(3.2%)as the main components.A total of 89 chemicals,representing 83.2%of the essential oil(oil yield determined to be 0.31%,v/w),were detected in the essential oil of *** main components were steroids,such as 14-b-H-pregna(32.9%),hydrocarbons(22.5%),sesquiterpenes(11.4%),and monoterpenes(4.6%),which were considered minor *** contents of sesquiterpene and monoterpene hydrocarbons present in *** and *** were 24%and 7.1%,***,the contribution of oxygenated monoterpenes(4%)and sesquiterpenes(4.3%)in both species was less than 5%.Conclusion:As the first report on the chemical composition of *** and ***,this study showed that the major compounds were steroids and sesquiterpenes.

Innovation systems and global value chains:A Co-citation analysis of established linkages and possible future trends

This study draws a historical picture of conceptual linkages of innovation systems(IS)and global value chains(GVC).We used a co-citation technique to map the evolution of these two fields since *** highlighted the connecting nodes over the past three *** first decade witnessed a connection between national innovation systems(NIS)and GVC,mediated by regional studies related to industrial clusters and district-based *** tradeoff between tacit sticky local and codified transferable global knowledge and innovation and learning's importance in upgrading in GVC generated two new routes in the second *** the last decade,although these routes are retained,their mediating nodes have changed with the literature on technology and sustainable transition from IS and the path dependency role in the evolution of districts in global production *** trends indicate that evolutionary views on economic geography and catch-up may open new opportunities to link the two,and some lessons highlight the need for more structured interactions in the future.
