Background. t.e aims of t.is st.dy were t. define t.e clinical charact.rist.cs of hepat.t.s B virus (HBV)-relat.d hepat.cellular carcinoma (HCC) in young adult.pat.ent. wit.out.cirrhosis and t. evaluat. t.e efficacy of int.rferon (IFN) t.erapy on HCC recurrence. Met.ods. Of 187 pat.ent. wit. HBV-relat.d HCC t.eat.d at.our hospit.l, 4 had no liver cirrhosis and were less t.an 30 years of age (10, 22, 23, and 26 years). Result.. At.t.e t.me of diagnosis of HCC, all cases had ant.body t. hepat.t.s Be ant.gen (ant.-HBe) and hist.logical st.ging of nont.morous liver was F0 or F1, i.e., low-grade hepat.t.s. t.e mot.ers of all 4 young adult.pat.ent. wit. HCC had HBV-relat.d liver disease. t.ree cases developed recurrence of HCC. In t.ese pat.ent., long-t.rm int.rmit.ent.IFN t.erapy aft.r reresect.on of HCC result.d in long-t.rm survival wit.out.recurrence for more t.an 3 years of follow-up. Conclusions. (1) Young adult.pat.ent. wit. HCC are posit.ve for ant.-HBe, lack cirrhosis,and t.e rout. of infect.on seems t. be mot.er-t.-infant.*** t.ansmission of HBV and HBV DNA int.grat.on int. t.e cellular genomic DNA during fet.l life is a possible explanat.on of HBV-relat.d hepat.carcinogenesis in young adult.; and (2) long-t.rm IFN t.erapy seems t. be useful for prevent.on of t.mor recurrence aft.r radical operat.on for HBV-relat.d HCC.

Background. Approximat.ly 30%of pat.ent. wit. chronic hepat.t.s C have normal serumalanine amino t.ansferase (ALt. levels. While int.rferon (IFN) mono t.erapy is approved for pat.ent. wit. chronic hepat.t.s C infect.on, t.e effect.veness of such t.erapy for chronic hepat.t.s C pat.ent. wit. normal ALt.levels at.commencement.of t.eat.ent.remains poorly underst.od. Met.ods. Ninet. four individuals (M/F, 54∶40; median age, 46 years) wit. normal ALt.levels (t.t.e commencement.of t.eat.ent.who were posit.ve for bot. ant.hepat.t.s C virus (HCV) and serum HCV RNA were st.died. Among t.is group, 18 individuals (M/F, 9∶9; median age, 50 years) had had persist.nt.y normal ALt.levels for at.least.3 mont.s prior t. t.eat.ent. All pat.ent. received t.eir first.course of IFN t.erapy in t.is st.dy. Result.. Fort. t.ree (45.7 %) of 94 individuals had lost.serum HCV RNA at.6 mont.s aft.r cessat.on of t.erapy (complet. response; CR). t.e proport.on of pat.ent. wit. genot.pe 2a and HCV RNA level over 1 Meq/ml who showed CR was significant.y lower in t.ose wit. normal ALt.levels t.an in t.ose wit. elevat.d ALt.levels (23.8%vs 55.6%; P = 0.0189). t.o pat.ent. who had persist.nt.y normal ALt.levels and HCV RNA level over 1 Meq/ml were non responders (NR) and had ALt.flare ups aft.r IFN t.erapy. Pat.ent. wit. HCV RNA levels of less t.an 1 Meq/ml did not.show different.al responses based on ALt.levels. Conclusions. Our dat. suggest.t.at.IFN t.erapy is effect.ve for pat.ent. wit. normal ALt.levels and less t.an 1 Meq/ml HCV RNA. t.us, such pat.ent. should be considered for curat.ve IFN t.erapy.

We st.dy t.e origin of baryon resonances which are dynamically generat.d in t.e chiral unit.ry approach. We propose a nat.ral renormalizat.on scheme for t.e dynamical generat.on of resonances using t.e low energy chiral int.ract.on and a general feat.re of t.e scat.ering t.eory. A deviat.on of a phenomenological scat.ering amplit.de from t.e nat.ral one is int.rpret.d by an effect.ve pole t.rm int.ract.on of genuine nat.re which can not.be described by t.e meson-baryon dynamics,reminiscent.of t.e CDD pole. Applying t.e present.met.od t. physical meson-baryon scat.erings,we find t.at.t.e Λ(1405) resonance is dominat.d by a meson-baryon component.forming a KN-πΣ molecular-like st.uct.re,while t.e N(1535) resonance requires some pole cont.ibut.on.

We employ as t.e st.ndard mechanism t.e effect.ve Lagrangian met.od and invest.gat. several physical observables wit.in t.e framework. t.e paramet.rs are const.ained by microscopic descript.on of hadrons. We discuss phot.product.ons of kaon associat.d wit. t.e ground st.t. A（1116） and it. resonances A（1405） and A（1520）. In t.e former example we emphasize t.e meson cloud effect.which significant.y renormalizes t.e phenomenological paramet.rs, while in t.e lat.er we discuss t.e feat.res of t.e st.ndard met.od. We st.dy t.e st.t.s π1(1600) and π1(2015) in t.e QCD sum rule. We classify t.e t.t.aquark current. of t.e quant.m numbers IGJPC=1-1-+,and find t.at.t.e flavor st.uct.re (3 6 )(6  3 ) is preferred when using a diquark-ant.diquark const.uct.on. By using bot. t.e SVZ and finit. energy sum rules,we obt.in a mass around 1.6 and 2.0 GeV,for t.e st.t.s wit. t.e quark cont.nt. qq and qs,respect.vely. We also st.dy t.eir decay pat.erns.

We also regulat. t.e pion-nucleon int.ract.on by considering t.e form-fact.r and short.range repulsion effect..
