Background Pediatric antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis(AAV)is a life-threatening systemic vasculitis featured by liability to renal ***,there are few studies on the risk factors and predictive models for renal outcomes of AAV in *** Data from 179 AAV children in multiple centers between January 2012 and March 2020 were collected *** risk factors and predictive model of end-stage renal disease(ESRD)in AAV were *** Renal involvement was the most typical manifestation(95.5%),and the crescent was the predominant pathological lesion(84.9%).The estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)was evaluated in 114 patients,of whom 59.6%developed ESRD,and the median time to ESRD was 3.20 *** eGFR[P=0.006,odds ratio(OR)=0.955,95%confidence interval(CI)=0.924–0.987]and the percentages of global glomerulosclerosis(pGGS;P=0.018,OR=1.060,95%CI=1.010–1.112)were independent risk factors for ESRD of renal *** on the pGGS and eGFR at renal biopsy,we developed three risk grades of ESRD and one predictive *** Kaplan‒Meier curve indicated that renal outcomes were significantly different in different risk grades(Pline,the predictive model had higher accuracy(0.86 versus 0.58,P<0.001)and a lower coefficient of variation(0.07 versus 0.92)in external *** Renal involvement is the most common manifestation of pediatric AAV in China,of which more than half deteriorates into *** predictive model based on eGFR at renal biopsy and the pGGS may be stable and accurate in speculating the risk of ESRD in AAV children.

Global minimization algorithm is indispensable for solving protein folding problems based on thermodynamic hypothesis. A contact difference （CD） based on pseudo potential function, for simulating empirical contact potential functions and testing global minimization algorithm was proposed. The present article describes a conformational sampiing and global minimization algorithm, which is called WL, based on Monte Carlo simulation and simulated annealing. It can be used to locate CD＇s globe minimum and refold extended protein structures, as small as 0. 03 nm, from the native structures, back to ones with root mean square distance（RMSD）. These results demonstrate that the global minimization problems for empirical contact potential functions may be solvable.

Background: Body temperature is poorly regulated in patients with end-stage liver disease. Due to the prolonged surgery time and anhepatic time as well as the complex surgical procedures performed in liver transplantation, the body temperature fluctuates greatly. This study investigated the effect of intraoperative body temperature fluctuations on the prognosis of liver recipients. Methods: The body temperatures of liver recipients recorded from the induction of anesthesia(T 0) until the end of surgery(T 14) were retrieved. The patients were divided into two groups: the hypothermia group( liver transplantation( P < 0.05). Hypothermia time was positively correlated with bleeding volume, intubation time, units of blood transfusions and intensive care stay, but negatively correlated with urine output. Conclusions: The intraoperative body temperature exhibited a graphical "V" trend, and the lowest temperature was at 5 min after reperfusion. The longer the duration of hypothermia, the more unfavourable the prognosis.

Molecular Biological and Biochemical Studies Reveal New Pathways Important for Cotton Fiber Development

As one of the longest single-celled seed trichomes, fibers provide an excellent model for studying fundamental biological processes such as cell differentiation, cell expansion, and cell wall biosynthesis. In this review, we summarize recent progress in cotton functional genomic studies that characterize the dynamic changes in the transcriptomes of fiber cells. Extensive expression profilings of cotton fiber transcriptomes have provided comprehensive information, as quite a number of transcription factors and enzyme-coding genes have been shown to express preferentially during the fiber elongation period. Biosynthesis of the plant hormone ethylene is found significantly upregulated during the fiber growth period as revealed by both microarray analysis and by biochemical and physiological studies. It is suggested that genetic engineering of the ethylene pathway may improve the quality and the productivity of cotton lint. Many metabolic pathways, such as biosynthesis of cellulose and matrix polysaccharides are preferentially expressed in actively growing fiber cells. Five gene families, including proline-rich proteins （PRP）, arabinogalactan proteins （AGP）, expansins, tubulins and lipid transfer proteins （LTP） are activated during early fiber development, indicating that they may also be needed for cell elongation. In conclusion, we identify a few areas of future research for cotton functional genomic studies.

AIM:To compare the postoperative efficacy,safety,predictability,and visual quality of implantable collamer lens(ICL)implantation versus small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE)in myopia ***:Pub Med,EMBASE,Web of Science,Cochrane library and several Chinese databases were searched at May 2021 to select relevant studies in comparison of clinical outcomes between ICL implantation and SMILE for *** primary outcomes were efficacy,safety,and *** the secondary outcomes were postoperative higher-order ocular aberrations(HOAs),modulation transfer function cutoff frequency(MTF),objective scatter index(OSI),contrast sensitivity and a quality of vision(Qo V)***:A total of 1036 eyes from 10 studies,of which 503 eyes underwent ICL implantation and 533 eyes underwent SMILE,were enrolled in this *** results revealed that ICL group had a better safety index and post-corrected distance visual acuity(CDVA)(P=0.007,line(P=0.007)than the SMILE *** significant differences were found in comparison of the other primary *** the longterm follow-up(>6mo),ICL group had a lower total HOA,coma,and spherical aberration than SMILE group(P=0.003,lity for correcting high ***,ICL group is relatively safer and also has better visual quality in comparison of SMILE group.

AIM:To evaluate survival and recurrence after salvage liver transplantation(SLT) for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) compared with primary liver transplantation(PLT) using a ***:literature on SLT versus PLT for the treatment of HCC published between 1966 and July 2011 was retrieved.A meta-analysis was conducted to estimate pooled survival and disease-free rates.A fixed or random-effect model was established to collect the ***:The differences in overall survival and disease-free survival rates at 1-year,3-year and 5-year survival rates were not statistically significant between SLT group and PLT group(P > 0.05).After stratifying the various studies by donor source and Milan criteria,we found that:(1) living donor liver transplantation recipients had significantly higher 1-year survival rate,lower 3-year and 5-year survival rates compared with deceased-donor liver transplantation(DDLT) *** in DDLT recipients they had better 1-year and 5-year disease-free survival rate in SLT group;and(2) No difference was seen in 1-year,3-year and 5-year survival rates between two groups who beyond Milan criteria at the time of liver ***:SLT can be effectively performed for patients with recurrence or deterioration of liver function after hepatectomy for *** does not increase the perioperative mortality and has a similar long-term survival rates compared to PLT.

Plants often face the challenge of severe environmental conditions, which include various biotic and abiotic stresses that exert adverse effects on plant growth and development. During evolution, plants have evolved complex regulatory mechanisms to adapt to various environmental stressors. One of the consequences of stress is an increase in the cellular concentration of reactive oxygen species （ROS）, which are subsequently converted to hydrogen peroxide （H2O2）. Even under normal conditions, higher plants produce ROS during metabolic processes. Excess concentrations of ROS result in oxidative damage to or the apoptotic death of cells. Development of an antioxidant defense system in plants protects them against oxidative stress damage. These ROS and, more particularly, H2O2, play versatile roles in normal plant physiological processes and in resistance to stresses. Recently, H2O2 has been regarded as a signaling molecule and regulator of the expression of some genes in cells. This review describes various aspects of H2O2 function, generation and scavenging, gene regulation and cross-links with other physiological molecules during plant growth, development and resistance responses.
