In order to develop a novel and high-performance catalytic material for direct methanol fuel cells（DMFC）, molybdenum oxide as a co-catalyst with Pt on multi-walled carbon nanotubes which were modified by titanium dio-xide（denoted as CNTs@TiO2） was investigated. The physicochemical characterizations of the catalysts were carried out via X-ray diffraction（XRD）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM） and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）. Cyclic voltammetry（CV） showed that the CO-tolerance performance increased in the sequence of Pt/CNTs Pt/CNTs@TiO2Pt-Mo/CNTs@TiO2. The improved CO-tolerance performance of the Pt-Mo/CNTs@TiO2 catalyst can be attributed to the combined beneficial effects of highly dispersed Pt nanoparticles on the CNTs, the existence of oxygen holes in the MoO3 layer structure and the oxidation capability of TiO2.

Recommendations for Acupuncture in Clinical Practice Guidelines of the National Guideline Clearinghouse

Objective： To organize the clinical practice guidelines（CPGs） related to acupuncture included in the National Guideline Clearinghouse（NGC） to systematically summarize the diseases and disorders most commonly treated with acupuncture, the strength of recommendations for acupuncture and the quality of evidence. Methods： The NGC database was systematically searched for guidelines that included acupuncture as an intervention. Two independent reviewers studied the summaries and the full texts of the guidelines and included guidelines based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Thirty-nine guidelines were collected with 80 recommendations. The Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation（AGREE） Ⅱ instrument was used to assess the quality of these guidelines. Results： Of the 80 recommendations on acupuncture, 49 recommendations were clearly for acupuncture, 25 recommendations were against acupuncture and 6 recommendations did not indicate any clear recommendations, 37 recommendations were for painful diseases/disorders, and 12 recommendations were for non-painful diseases/disorders. Locomotor system disorders were the most common in the painful diseases/disorders category. Out of all the recommendations for acupuncture, most recommendations（87.76%） were weak in strength, and most of the evidence（40.84%） was of low quality. Conclusion： In the National Guideline Clearinghouse, the recommendations for acupuncture focus on painful diseases/disorders. The recommendations in the guidelines are not high in strength, and most of the evidence is moderate or low in quality.

Determination of Aroclor 1254 in Water Samples Using Polystyrene-Divinylbenzene Solid-Phase Extraction and Gas Chromatography

A method was developed for the determination of Aroclor 1254 in water samples using polystyrene-divinylbenzene(PS-DVB)solid-phase extraction(SPE)and gas chromatography(GC).The PS-DVB sorbent demonstrated good recoveries of Aroclor 1254 when sulfuric acid(1:1,v:v)was added to the *** quantification was performed using gas chroma-tography with a parallel column and dual electron capture *** in extraction method procedures were optimized,including sample pH,elution solvent,eluting volume and breakthrough *** the 1000 ml sample acidified to pH 1.0,a 6.0 ml n-hexane/ethyl acetate(1:1,v:v)elution solvent,and gas chromatographic determination,the recoveries of Aroclor 1254 in spiked water samples ranged from 90.6 to 104%.Across testing days,repeatability ranged from 4.7 to 7.6%.The method detection limit was 0.053μg/***-DVB exhibited a broader pH stability range,satisfactory recoveries,and good repeatability for Aroclor 1254 *** results indicate that these methods can be used to analyze trace amounts of Aroclor 1254,and represent a new analytical approach for determining polychlorinated biphenyls in water samples.

Exogenous Hydrogen Sulfide Enhanced Antioxidant Capacity, Amylase Activities and Salt Tolerance of Cucumber Hypocotyls and Radicles

In the present experiment, effects of sodium hydrosulfide （NariS）, a H2S donor, on the oxidative damage, antioxidant capacity and the growth of cucumber hypocotyls and radicles were studied under 100 mmol L^-1 NaCl stress. NaCl treatment significantly induced accumulation of H2O2 and thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances （TBARS） in cucumber hypocotyls and radicles, and application of NariS dramatically reduced the accumulation of H/O2 and lipid peroxidation. However, the alleviating effects greatly depended on the concentrations of NariS, and 400 ~tmol L-1 NariS treatment showed the most significant effects. Corresponding to the change of lipid peroxidation, higher activities of antioxidant enzymes as well as the antioxidant capacity indicated as DPPH scavenging ac＇tivity, chelating activity of ferrous ions and hydroxyl radical （.OH） scavenging activity were induced by Naris treatment under NaCI stress, especially by 400 Ixmol L-I Naris treatment. With the alleviating lipid peroxidation, the amylase activities in cotyledons were increased, and the length of cucumber hypocotyls and radicles were significantly promoted by NariS treatment under NaCI stress. Unlike the effects of NariS, pretreatment with other sodium salts including Na2S, NazSO4, NaHSO4, Na2SO3, NaHSO3 and NaAc did not show significant effects on the growth of cucumber hypocotyls and radicles. These salts do not release H2S. Based on above results, it can be concluded that the effects of NariS in the experiment depended on the H2S rather than other compounds derived from NariS, and the alleviating effects might related with its function in modulating antioxidant capacity and amylase activities.

Single-crystal erbium silicate nanowires have attracted considerable attention because of their high optical gain. In this work, we report the controlled synthesis of silicon-erbium ytterbium silicate core- shell nanowires and fine-tuning the erbium mole fraction in the shell from x = 0.3 to x = 1.0, which corresponds to changing the erbium concentration from 4.8 ×10^21 to 1.6 ×10^22 cm^-3. By controlling and properly optimizing the composition of erbium and ytterbium in the nanowires, we can effectively suppress upeonversion photoluminescence while simultaneously enhancing near-infrared emission. The composition-optimized nanowires have very long photoluminescence lifetimes and large emission cross- sections, which contribute to the high optical gain that we observed. We suspended these concentration- optimized nanowires in the air to measure and analyze their propagation loss and optical gain in the near-infrared communication band. Through systematic measurements using wires with different core sizes, we obtained a maximum net gain of 20 ± 8 dB·mm^-1, which occurs at a wavelength of 1534 nm, for a nanowire with a diameter of 600 nm and a silicon core diameter of 300 nm.

As nursing becomes a first-level discipline, the central focus of the development process of nursing science is the independent exploration of the future path of nursing care. Although many countries have made efforts to develop nursing as an independent discipline, no remarkable advancement has been achieved due to the incorrect understanding of the relationship between nursing and medicine and the improper comprehension of other factors involved in the process of nursing reform. Teaching and practicing nursing also face many problems. Based on our understanding of the relationship between nursing and medicine and through a careful analysis of the existing problems in the current nursing discipline, this paper provides some insights into the future directions of nursing development by exploring the independently developing nursing discipline in foreign countries.
