Flows containing steady or nearly steady strong shocks on parts of the flow field,and unsteady turbulence with shocklets on other parts of the flow field are difficult to capture accurately and efficiently employing the same numerical scheme,even under the multiblock grid or adaptive grid refinement *** sixthorder or higher-order shock-capturing methods are appropriate for unsteady turbulence with shocklets,third-order or lower shock-capturing methods are more effective for strong steady or nearly steady shocks in terms of *** order to minimize the short comings of low order and high order shock-capturing schemes for the subject flows,a multiblock overlapping grid with different types of spatial schemes and orders of accuracy on different blocks is *** recently developed single block high order filter scheme in generalized geometries for Navier Stokes and magnetohydrodynamics systems is extended to multiblock overlapping grid *** first stage in validating the high order overlapping approach with several test cases is included.

International student mobility figures have exponentially increased over the years,doubling from 2.1 million in 2000 to close to 5 million in 2014 *** OECD projects this figure to reach 8 million in *** opening up its market in 1978 and making rapid developments in its economy,China has seen remarkable progress in its education *** much so,it has recently emerged as one of the top ten destinations for international students *** central objective of this paper hence,is to examine the rise of China as major host destination for international student *** the theoretical approach of a developmental state,China’s rise would be attributed to its strategies employed by the Chinese state and universities that are used to enhance or create its attraction factors（otherwise known as “pull” factors）as identified in international student opinion surveys,that are of economic,educational and socio-cultural *** supplementing the above primary objective,the paperthen demonstrates that China’s success in the international student education market owing to the choice of strategies and motivations are indeed ***,itdeviates from the global neo-liberalism ideology,which otherwise sees pursuit of economic gain as ***-medium master programmes are also an emerging trend amongst Chinese universities in attracting international *** paper will add on to the scarce literature available by prescribing some exploratory factors as to why some of these new programmes are more successful in attracting international students than others,through case studies of four such programmes that are from two C9 universities.

In a homojunction device, a single organic layer assumes the multiple roles of hole, electron transportation, and emitter. Its ease in processing is highly desirable from the manufacturing point of view. In this paper, we shall describe the synthesis of a range of bipolar small molecules and conductive vinyl polymers for application in homojunction and heterojunction organic light emitting diodes（OLEDs）. The bipolar materials, in general, consist of three basic building blocks: an arylamine, a 1,3,4-oxadiazole, and a polycyclic aromatic moiety. The achievement of charge balance can be validated either by direct measurement of electron/hole mobility or indirectly via optimization of device properties.A series of conductive vinyl copolymers containing hole transporting N-（4-methoxyphenyl）-N-（4-vinylphenyl）naphthalen-1-amine（4MeONPA） and electron transporting 2-phenyl-5-（4-vinylphenyl）-1,3,4-oxadiazole（OXA）at different compositions was applied for heterojunction and homojunction OLEDs. For heterojunction devices employed the copolymers as the hole transporting layer and Alq3as the electron transporting and emitting layer,a maximum luminance and current efficiency of over 23000 cd/m2and 4.2 cd/A（PL of Alq3）, respectively, were achieved at the charge balance composition. homojunction devices for the copolymers were demonstrated by the addition of rubrene as a dopant. The single layer devices at the optimal copolymer composition has ca 1500 cd/m2and 0.74 cd/A.

This study investigates the influence of ground water injection on the initial movement of non-cohesive sediment particles on a riverbank slope analytically and *** including the hydraulic gradient in the force analysis,the critical condition was derived to account for the effect of seepage flow, showing that the seepage hydraulic gradient and the riverbank slope are governing parameters in modifying the incipient motion of sediments on a riverbank *** investigations were performed in an open-channel flume for various riverbank slopes and hydraulic gradients of injection, showing that the critical shear stress increases with decreasing riverbank slopes and vise-versa,while injection reduces the critical *** experimental data agree well with the theoretical derived expression of the critical condition in the case of injection.

Background:Gallbladder cancer(GBC)was once considered a contraindication for laparoscopic surgery,but it is becoming more common to use laparoscopic surgery for GBC *** aim of this study was to analyze the long-and short-term outcomes of patients with more advanced T-staged GBC treated with curative intent as defined by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network(NCCN)after laparoscopic resection(LR)versus open resection(OR).Methods:A multicenter database was used to select consecutive GBC patients treated with curative-intent resection as defined by the NCCN between 2016 and *** patients were divided into the LR group and the OR *** score matching(PSM)was used to eliminate selection *** endpoints were overall survival(OS),progression-free survival(PFS),and short-term *** factors that were independently associated with OS and PFS were ***:Of 626 GBC patients treated with curative-intent resection,after PSM,51 patients were in the LR group and 153 patients were in the OR *** LR group had more patients who were suitable to receive adjuvant chemotherapy(AC),a longer operation time,more harvested lymph nodes,and a lower overall morbidity *** rates of OS and PFS were not significantly different between the two *** was independently associated with better OS and ***:The overall morbidity of GBC patients after LR was lower,but the long-term outcomes between LR and OR were not significantly *** GBC patients treated with LR were more likely to receive AC,and the use of AC after curative-intent resection of GBC helped achieve better long-term survival outcomes.

Objective: To establish a DNA detection platform based on a tapered optical fiber to detect Leptospira DNA by targeting the leptospiral secY ***: The biosensor works on the principle of light propagating in the special geometry of the optical fiber tapered from a waist diameter of 125 to 12 μm. The fiber surface was functionalized through a cascade of chemical treatments and the immobilization of a DNA capture probe targeting the secY gene. The presence of the target DNA was determined from the wavelength shift in the optical transmission ***: The biosensor demonstrated good sensitivity, detecting Leptospira DNA at 0.001 ng/μL, and was selective for Leptospira DNA without cross-reactivity with non-leptospiral microorganisms. The biosensor specifically detected DNA that was specifically amplified through the loop-mediated isothermal amplification ***: These findings warrant the potential of this platform to be developed as a novel alternative approach to diagnose leptospirosis.

Prospective validation of %p2PSA and the Prostate Health Index, in prostate cancer detection in initial prostate biopsies of Asian men, with total PSA 4-10 ng ml-1

Despite its widespread use for prostate cancer screening, low specificity makes PSA a suboptimal biomarker, especially in the diagnostic ＂gray zone＂ of 4-10 ng ml-1, False-positives lead to unnecessary biopsies with attendant morbidities. This is the first prospective validation study of %p2PSA and the Prostate Health Index （PHI） in Asian men presenting with a total PSA between 4.0 and 10 ng m1-1. We studied 157 Asian men between 50 and 75 years old, with normal per rectal prostate examinations, undergoing their first prostate biopsy, using a standardized biopsy protocol, for PSA levels of 4-10 ng ml-1, Thirty （19.1%） were found to have prostate cancer on biopsy. Statistically significant differences between patients with and without prostate cancer were found for total PSA, p2PSA, %p2PSA, and PHh The areas under the curve of the receiver operating characteristic curve for total PSA, %fPSA, %p2PSA, and PHI were 0.479, 0.420, 0.695, and 0.794, respectively. PHI predicts prostatic biopsies results best. At a sensitivity of 90%, the specificity （95% CI） of PHI was 58.3%, more than triple the specificity of total PSA at 17.3%, potentially avoiding 77 （49%） unnecessary biopsies. Similar to studies in mainly Caucasian populations, we have prospectively shown that %p2PSA and PHI greatly outperform total and free to total PSA ratio, in the detection of prostate cancer at first biopsy. Higher PHi levels also correspond to increasing the risk of detecting GS ≥7 cancers.
