wind tunnel experiment and steady-state Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)approaches are used to examine the urban boundary layer(UBL)development above Kowloon Peninsula,hong Kong Special Administrative Region(HKSAR).The detailed urban morphology is resolved by computational fluid dynamics(CFD)and is fabricated by 3D-printing(reduced scale)for wind tunnel *** from the majority existing results based on idealized,homogeneous urban geometries,it was found that the wind and turbulence in the UBL over downtown Kowloon are characterized by the wake behind several high-rise *** particular,local maxima of turbulence kinetic energy(TKE)and shear stress are found at the roof level of those high-rise *** the downstream region where the flows are already adjusted to the urban surfaces,the urban roughness sublayer(URSL)can be further divided into two layers based on the structures of the mixing length/m,effective drag Dx and dispersive *** the lower URSL(zght and the magnitude of dispersive stress is smaller than that of the Reynolds stress(g Dx is negligible in the upper URSL.

6-weekly bevacizumab versus 4-weekly ranibizumab for neovascular age-related macular degeneration:a 2-year outcome

AIM： To compare visual acuity and central macular thickness（CMT） changes in neovascular age-related macular degeneration patients treated with either 6weekly bevacizumab regimen or 4 weekly ranibizumab on an as required basis.·METhoDS： Patients made an informed choice between bevacizumab 1.25 mg or ranibizumab 0.5 mg. The selected treatment was administered in the first 3 *** patients were followed-up 6 weekly and ranibizumab 4 weekly. Retreatment criteria was based on the reduction of 〉5 letters in the best-corrected visual acuity（BCVA）, the presence of retinal fluid on optical coherence tomography（OCT） or new retinal haemorrhage.·RESULTS： Visual acuity at 2y bevacizumab patients gained 7. 0 letters and ranibizumab 9. 2（ P = 0. 31, 95 %CI-6.4 to 2.0）. At 2y 86% of bevacizumab and 94%ranibizumab patients had not lost 15 letters or more（P =0.13）. Mean CMT decreased at 2y bevacizumab by 146 μm,ranibizumab 160 μm（P =0.72）. Mean number of injections was at 2y bevacizumzb 11.9, ranibizumab 10.3（P =0.023）.· CONCLUSION： Bevacizumab 6 weekly on an as required basis was not demonstrably non-inferior to ranibizumab 4 weekly pro re nata（prn） in terms of BCVA and change in CMT. In the bevacizumab group, one more injection was required in the second year compared to the ranibizumab group.

Dual ion storage hybrid supercapacitors(HsCs)are considered as a promising device to overcome the limited energy density of existing supercapacitors while preserving high power and long ***,the development of high-capacity anion-storing materials,which can be paired with fast charg-ing capacitive electrodes,lags behind cation-storing ***,we demonstrate the surface faradaic OH-storage mechanism of anion storing perovskite oxide composites and their application in high-performance dual ion *** oxygen vacancy and nanoparticle size of the reduced LaMnO_(3)(r-LaMnO_(3))were controlled,while r-LaMnO_(3) was chemically coupled with ozonated carbon nanotubes(oCNTs)for the improved anion storing capacity and cycle *** taken by in-situ and ex-situ spectroscopic and computational analyses,OH-ions are inserted into the oxygen vacancies coordi-nating.w.th octahedral Mn with the increase in the oxidation state of Mn during the charging process or vice *** OH-storing r-LaMnO_(3)/oCNT composite with Na*storing MXene,the as-fabricated aqueous dual ion HSCs achieved the cycle performance of 73.3%over 10,000 cycles,delivering the max-imum energy and power densities of 47.5 w h kg^(-1) and 8 kw kg^(-1),respectively,far exceeding those of previously reported aqueous anion and dual ion storage *** research establishes a foundation for the unique anion storage mechanism of the defect engineered perovskite oxides and the advancement of dual ion hybrid energy storage devices with high energy and power densities.

host material plays an important role in obtaining efficient photon upconversion and downshifting ***, fluoride and oxyfluoride glasses-based materials are used for high-efficiency photon ***, the poor thermal stability of fluoride glasses and the toxicity of fluorine ions limit their applications. In this report, Yb/ho-doped CaSiO3wollastonite phosphors have been demonstrated as efficient red-emitting upconversion phosphors. The phosphors have been synthesized by microwave hydrothermal process followed by heat treatment at 1050°C in the air environment. 2M phase of the β-wollastonite has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy while the existence of the Yb and ho dopants in the CaSiO3lattice has been confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The synthesized samples showed strong red upconversion emission centered at 662 nm and near-infrared downshifting emissions at 2016 nm upon 980 nm excitation. The emissions were found to depend significantly on the ho concentration. Temporal evolution of the main emission bands was investigated to show that the energy transfer upconversion from Yb to ho ions was responsible for the efficient upconversion and downshifting phenomenon.

Turbulence in the wake generated by wind flow over buildings or obstacles may produce complex flow patterns in downstream *** include the recirculating flow and wind deficit areas behind an airport terminal building and their potential impacts on the aircraft landing on nearby runways.A computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation of the wind flow over an airport terminal building.w.s performed in this study of the effect of the building.w.ke on landing *** normal meteorological conditions,the studied airport terminal building causes limited effects on landing aircraft because most of the aircraft have already landed before entering the turbulent wake *** simulating the approach of a tropical cyclone,additional CFD sensitivity tests were performed to study the impacts of building.w.ke under extreme meteorological *** was found that,in a narrow range of prevalent wind directions with wind speeds larger than a certain threshold value,a substantial drop in wind speed(>3.6 m/s) along the glide path of aircraft was observed in the building *** CFD results also showed that under the most critical situation,a drop in wind speed as large as 6.4 m/s occurred right at the touchdown point of landing aircraft on the runway,an effect which may have a significant impact on aircraft *** study indicated that a comprehensive analysis of the potential impacts of building.w.ke on aircraft operations should be carried out for airport terminals and associated buildings in airfields to ensure safe aviation operation under all meteorological conditions and to facilitate implementation of precautionary measures.

Recent studies of hydrogen-dominant（superhydride） materials have led to putative discoveries of near-room temperature superconductivity at high pressures. The idea started more than half-a-century ago as a by-product of the quest for metallic hydrogen for which a natural consequence of its very high Debye temperature and phonon frequency due to the very low mass of the hydrogen atoms would lead to a high superconducting critical temperature （Tc） in weak coupling Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer（BCS） expression.
