Bubbles and foams are ubiquitous in daily life and industrial *** their dynamic behaviors is of key importance for foam manufacturing processes in food packaging,cosmetics and *** bubbles are inherently fragile and transient;enhancing their robustness and shelf lives is an ongoing *** rupture can be attributed to liquid evaporation,thin film drainage and the nuclei of environmental *** by particle-stabilized interfaces in Pickering emulsions,armored bubbles and liquid marble,bubbles are protected by an enclosed particle-entrapping liquid thin film,and the resultant soft object is termed gas *** gas marble exhibits mechanical strength orders of magnitude higher than that of soap bubbles when subjected to overpressure and underpressure,owing to the compact particle monolayer straddling the surface liquid *** using a water-absorbent glycerol solution,the resulting gas marble can persist for 465 d in normal atmospheric *** particle-stabilizing approach not only has practical implications for foam manufacturing processes but also can inspire the new design and fabrication of functional biomaterials and biomedicines.

Aqueous two-phase system(ATPS)droplets have demonstrated superior compatibility over conventional water-in-oil droplets for various biological ***,the ultralow interfacial tension hampers efficient and stable droplet generation,limiting further development and more extensive use of such ***,we present a simple strategy to employ oil as a transient medium for ATPS droplet *** methods based on passive flow focusing and active pico-injection are demonstrated to generate water-water-oil double emulsions,achieving a high generation frequency of~2.4 *** evaporation of the oil to break the double emulsions,the aqueous core can be released to form uniform-sized water-in-water ***,this technique can be used to fabricate aqueous microgels,and the introduction of the oil medium enables integration of droplet sorting to produce single-cell-laden hydrogels with a harvest rate of over 90%.We believe that the demonstrated high-throughput generation and sorting of ATPS droplets represent an important tool to advance droplet-based tissue engineering and single-cell analyses.

Microfluidics is characterized by the manipulation of fluids in submillimeter channels and has great application potential in *** further extend the application of microfluidics in food industries,a 3D printed microfluidic device is used to encapsulate vitamin A and improve its *** natural macromolecules,sodium alginate and gelatin,are added to water as the continuous phase to generate monodisperse *** different flow rate ratios,the diameter of droplets decreases with the increase of continuous flow ***,at the same flow rate ratio,varying the dispersed and continuous flow rates does not significantly change the diameter and size distribution of emulsion *** prepared O/W(oil/water)single emulsion can form microgel particles and avoid degradation of vitamin A by simulated gastric acid;the encapsulated vitamin A will not be released until particles reach simulated intestinal *** the simulated digestion in vitro,no vitamin A is released for 2 h in the acidic environment;under an alkaline or neutral environment such as those in intestinal fluids,vitamin A can be released from the microgel particles within 2.5 *** the presented approach,emulsions encapsulating vitamin A have been prepared and can potentially be applied to encapsulate other oil-soluble substances in the food industry.

Droplet merging serves as a powerful tool to add reagents to moving droplets for biological and chemical ***,unsynchronized droplet pairing impedes high-effciency ***,we develop a microfluidic design for the self-synchronization of reinjected droplets.A periodic increase in the hydrodynamic resistance caused by droplet blocking a T-junction enables automatic pairing of *** inducing spacing,the paired droplets merge downstream under an electric *** blockage-based design can achieve a 100%synchronization efficiency even when the mismatch rate of droplet frequencies reaches 10%.Over 98%of the droplets can still be synchronized at nonuniform droplet sizes and fluctuating reinjection flow ***,the droplet pairing ratio can be adjusted flexibly for on-demand sample *** this system,we merge two groups of droplets encapsulating enzyme/substrate,demonstrating its capacity to conduct multi-step *** also combine droplet sorting and merging to coencapsulate single cells and single beads,providing a basis for high-efficiency single-cell *** expect that this system can be integrated with other droplet manipulation systems for a broad range of chemical and biological applications.

To the Editor:Extraovarian primary peritoneal carcinoma(EOPPC)is an uncommon malignancy with many similarities to epithelial ovarian carcinoma in histological,clinical,and etiological aspects[1].This phenomenon is explained by their common embryonal origin,in which both develop from the coelomic epithelium in the early embryological *** their similarities,the incidence of EOPPC is significantly lower than that of epithelial ovarian carcinoma(6.78 cases per million vs.120.5 cases per million)[1].

The demand for optical glass has been rapidly increasing in various industries,where an ultra-smooth surface and form accuracy are critical for the functional elements of the *** meet the high surface-quality requirements,a polishing process is usually adopted to finish the optical glass surface to ensure an ultra-smooth surface and eliminate sub-surface ***,current ultra-precision polishing processes normally polish workpieces individually,leading to a low production efficiency and high polishing *** mass-finishing methods cannot be used for optical ***,magnetic-field-assisted batch polishing(MABP)was proposed in this study to overcome this research gap and provide an efficient and cost-effective method for industrial use.A series of polishing experiments were conducted on typical optical components under different polishing parameters to evaluate the polishing performance of MABP on optical *** results demonstrated that MABP is an efficient method to simultaneously polish multiple lenses while achieving a surface roughness,indicated by the arithmetic mean height(Sa),of 0.7 nm and maintained a sub-micrometer surface form for all the *** addition,no apparent sub-surface damage was observed,indicating the significant potential for the high-quality rapid polishing of optical *** proposed method is highly competitive compared to the current optical polishing methods,which has the potential to revolutionize the polishing process for small optics.

Raman spectroscopy has tremendous potential for material analysis with its molecular fingerprinting capability in many branches of science and *** is also an emerging omics technique for metabolic profiling to shape precision ***,precisely attributing vibration peaks coupled with specific environmental,instrumental,and specimen noise is *** Raman spectral preprocessing to remove statistical bias noise and sample-related errors should provide a powerful tool for valuable information ***,we propose a novel Raman spectral preprocessing scheme based on self-supervised learning(RSPSSL)with high capacity and spectral *** can preprocess arbitrary Raman spectra without further training at a speed of~1900 spectra per second without human *** experimental data preprocessing trial demonstrated its excellent capacity and signal fidelity with an 88%reduction in root mean square error and a 60%reduction in infinite norm(L__(∞))compared to established *** this advantage,it remarkably enhanced various biomedical applications with a 400%accuracy elevation(ΔAUC)in cancer diagnosis,an average 38%(few-shot)and 242%accuracy improvement in paraquat concentration prediction,and unsealed the chemical resolution of biomedical hyperspectral images,especially in the spectral fingerprint *** precisely preprocessed various Raman spectra from different spectroscopy devices,laboratories,and diverse *** scheme will enable biomedical mechanism screening with the label-free volumetric molecular imaging tool on organism and disease metabolomics profiling with a scenario of high throughput,cross-device,various analyte complexity,and diverse applications.
