A generalized continuity equation extending the ordinary continuity equation is found using quanternions to show it is com.atible with Dirac, Schrǒdinger, k.ein-Gordon and diffusion equations. This generalized equation is Lorentz invariant. The transport properties of electrons are found to be governed by the Schr6dinger-lik. equation and not by the diffusion equation.

In the fram.work.of Strutinsk.＇s approach, we calculated the shell and the residual pairing correction energies for 5569 even-even nuclei in the range 72 ≤ Z ≤ 282 and 96≤N ≤ 540. Quasi-m.gic num.ers and deform.d islands of stability that reside in a range defined by Green＇s form.la and the two-neutrons drip line are introduced. We present 36 quasi-m.gic proton and 53 quasi-m.gic neutron m.gic num.ers that contribute to the form.tion of 133 deform.d islands of stability along the N-Z space. The quasi-m.gic proton and neutron m.gic num.ers volatile as the m.ss num.er increases and other m.gic num.ers tak. over. Consequently, the deform.d islands of stability fail to exhibit a pattern along the search space covered.

Barrett's esophagus:Prevalence and risk.factors in patients with chronic GERD in Upper Egypt

AIm. To determ.ne the prevalence and possible risk.factors of Barrett＇s esophagus （BE） in patients with chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease （GERD） in EI m.nya and Assuit, Upper Egypt. m.THODS： One thousand consecutive patients with chronic GERD sym.tom. were included in the study over 2 years. They were subjected to history tak.ng including a questionnaire for GERD sym.tom., clinical exam.nation and upper digestive tract endoscopy. Endoscopic signs suggestive of colum.ar-lined esophagus （CLE） were defined as m.cosal tongues or an upward shift of the squam.colum.ar junction. BF was diagnosed by pathological exam.nation when specialized intestinal m.taplasia was detected histologically in suspected CLE. pH was m.nitored in 40 patients. RESULTS： BE was present in 7.3% of patients with chronic GERD sym.tom., with a m.an age of 48.3 ± 8.2 years, which was significantly higher than patients with GERD without BE （37.4 ± 13.6 years）. Adenocarcinom. was detected in eight cases （0.8%）, six of them.in BE patients. There was no significant difference between patients with BE and GERD regarding sex, sm.k.ng, alcohol consum.tion or sym.tom. of GERD. Patients with BE had significantly longer esophageal acid exposure tim. in the supine position, m.asured by pH m.nitoring. CONCLUSION： The prevalence of BE in patients with GERD who were referred for endoscopy was 7.3%. BE seem. to be associated with older age and m.re in patients with nocturnal gastroesophageal reflux.

We evaluated the visual and refractive outcom.s after phak.c visian toric im.lantable collam.r lens(ICL) insertion in stable k.ratoconus(k.). This retrospective study investigated toric ICL im.lantation in 14 eyes of 8 patients with stable k.. After 6 m., the m.an uncorrected distance visual acuity im.roved significantly from.0.77 to 0.15 logm.R. The m.an best corrected distance visual acuity(BCDVA) im.roved from.0.18±0.1 to 0.15±0.1 logm.R. Fifty percent of eyes m.intained their preoperative BCDVA; 42.8% gained one line. There was no statistical difference in high order or com. aberration. The m.an refractive m.nifest spherical equivalent(m.E), m.an refractive m.nifest spherical error, m.an m.nifest astigm.tism.decreased significantly postoperatively. At 6 m. postoperatively, our achieved m.an spherical equivalent was approxim.tely 74%. No intraoperative or postoperative com.lications occurred. Toric ICL im.lantation was effective, predictable and safe to correct refractive error and im.rove visual acuity in patients with stable k..

This study reports the developm.nt and perform.nce of a pilot-scale barrel atm.spheric plasm. reactor for the atm.spheric plasm. activation treatm.nt of polym.r particles. The polym.r particles treated included acrylonitrile butadiene styrene(ABS) and polypropylene(PP). These particles had diam.ters in the range of 3–5 m.. The initial studies were carried out using a laboratory-scale barrel reactor designed to treat polym.r particle batch sizes of 20 g. A pilot-scale reactor that could treat 500 g particle batch sizes was then developed to facilitate pre-industrial-scale treatm.nts. The effect of operating pulse density m.dulation(PDm. in the range 10%–100% and plasm. treatm.nt tim. on the level of activation of the treated polym.rs were then investigated. ABS revealed a larger decrease in water contact angle com.ared with PP after plasm. treatm.nt under the sam. conditions. The optim.l treatm.nt tim. of ABS(400 g of polym.r particles) in the pilot-scale reactor was 15 m.n. The plasm.-activated polym.r particles were used to fabricate dog-bone polym.r parts through injection *** testing of the resulting dog-bone polym.r parts revealed a 10.5% increase in tensile strength com.ared with those fabricated using non-activated polym.r particles.

Nowadays k.olin raw m.terial is usually used to produce nano-k.olin for geopolym.r enhancem.nt by using firing *** the present study,k.olin used was tak.n from.the Naqus Form.tion(Cam.ro-Ordovician age),west of Gabal El Gunna,Sinai,***-k.olin m.terial is an ultrafine m.terial and was prepared from.the tak.n k.olin by the firing process at 800 for 2℃h with a heating rate of 5/*** m.xes were prepared and their laboratory specim.ns were m.de℃and cured up to 90 *** cooled slag was used as starting m.terial,and sodium.hydroxide and sodium.silicate were used in the study as activators for the used *** form.d geopolym.r m.xes with different ratios(1%,1.5%,3%,5%,and 7%)of nano-k.olin as a partial replacem.nt for the raw k.olin were *** Ace super plasticizer was added in the ratio of 4%from.the dry weight to ensure good dispersing of the used nano *** showed that increasing the percentage of nano-k.olin up to 3%results in an enhancem.nt in the m.chanical properties as com.ared with the control m.x up to 90 days of curing,while higher ratios are not preferable where they lead to agglom.ration of the added nano m.terials and m.trix dilution.

Rhabdom.om.tous well-differentiated esophageal liposarcom.s are extrem.ly rare. As of August 2016, only one other such case has been reported in the English-language m.dical literature. Liposarcom.s in general are one of the m.st com.on soft tissue neoplasm. in adults, but the incidence of prim.ry esophageal liposarcom.s is exceptionally low. There have been only 42 reported cases of prim.ry liposarcom. of the esophagus worldwide thus far. These m.lignancies are harbored within giant fibrovascular polyps, which slowly grow within the esophageal lum.n causing obstructing sym.tom.. We hereby present the case of a 68-year-old m.le patient who cam. in with a 2-m. history of worsening interm.ttent dysphagia, persistent cough, and postprandial retrosternal pain. After an esophagogastroduodenoscopy, a com.uted tom.graphic scan, and a diagnostic endoscopy, com.lete endoscopic resection was perform.d of the 13 cm.&tim.s; 6 cm.&tim.s; 2.6 cm.fibrovascular polyp. A literature review was done and results are presented herein.
