AIM: To investigate the effects of Japanese apricot(JA) consumption on gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD)-related ***: Participants included individuals living in Minabe-cho,a well-known JA-growing region,who received specific medical check-ups by the local community health service in ***-related symptoms were examined in 1303 Japanese individuals using a validated questionnaire,the Frequency Scale for Symptoms of GERD(FSSG),which consists of 7 questions associated with acid reflux symptoms and 5 questions asking about gastrointestinal dysmotility *** question was answered using a 4-point scale,with higher scores indicating more severe GERDrelated *** were divided into two groups according to their intake of dried and pickled JA: daily intake(≥ 1 JA daily)(392 subjects) and none oroccasional intake(< 1 JA daily)(911 subjects).FSSG scores were compared between subjects who consumed JA daily and those who did ***,subjects were stratified by age,gender and Helicobacter pylori(***) status for ***: Those who ate JA daily were significantly older than those who did not(60.6 ± 10.5 years vs 56.0 ± 11.0 years,P < 0.001).Total FSSG scores were significantly lower in subjects with daily JA intake than in those with none or only occasional intake(2.13 ± 3.14 vs 2.70 ± 3.82,P = 0.005).In particular,subjects who consumed JA daily showed significantly improved FSSG dysmotility scores compared with subjects who did not(1.05 ± 1.58 vs 1.46 ± 2.11,P < 0.001).In contrast,the FSSG reflux score did not differ between subjects with and without daily intake of JA(1.08 ± 1.90 vs 1.24 ± 2.11,P = 0.177).Subanalysis indicated that improvement in dysmotility by JA intake was specifically observed in non-elderly(1.24 ± 1.68 vs 1.62 ± 2.22,P = 0.005) and ***-negative subjects(0.99 ± 1.58 vs 1.57 ± 2.06,P < 0.001).GERD patients(total FSSG score ≥ 8) were less frequently observed among subjects with daily intake of JA as

This work uses quantum chemistry calculations and machine learning to explore design rules for singlet fission in a chemical space of four million indigoid *** identify~400,000 derivatives of 2,2′-diethenyl cibalackrot,which theoretically fulfil the energy conditions for exoergic singlet fission above the silicon band gap *** this database with a random forest classifier,we observe that small substituents with positive mesomeric effects and weak negative inductive effects reinforce the desired energetic conditions when placed at specific ***,a subset of molecules that reflects the random forest classifier’s rules are investigated for their quantum chemical properties to translate the desirable structural motifs into wavefunction-based design ***,direct correlations between the energetic condition for singlet fission,the biradical character and the charge and triplet spin density in prominent molecular regions are identified,providing insights that may serve as a guide for singlet fission core structure development.

Biliodigestive anastomosis between the extrahepatic bile duct and the intestine for bile duct disease is a gastrointestinal reconstruction that abolishes duodenal papilla function and frequently causes retrograde *** chronic inflammation can cause liver dysfunction,liver abscess,and even bile duct *** research has been conducted for over 100 years to directly repair bile duct defects with alternatives,no bile duct substitute(BDS)has been *** narrative review confirms our understanding of why bile duct alternatives have not been developed and explains the clinical applicability of BDSs in the near *** searched the PubMed electronic database to identify studies conducted to develop BDSs until December 2021 and identified studies in *** independent reviewers reviewed studies on large animals with 8 or more *** types of BDSs prevail:Autologous tissue,non-bioabsorbable material,bioabsorbable material,and others(decellularized tissue,3D-printed structures,etc.).In most studies,BDSs failed due to obstruction of the lumen or stenosis of the anastomosis with the native bile *** has not been developed primarily because control of bile duct wound healing and regeneration has not been elucidated.A BDS expected to be clinically applied in the near future incorporates a bioabsorbable material that allows for regeneration of the bile duct outside the BDS.

Ocean thermal energy conversion(OTEC)is a process of generating electricity by exploiting the temperature difference between warm surface seawater and cold deep *** to the high static and dynamic pressures that are caused by seawater circulation,the stiffened panel that constitutes a seawater tank may undergo a reduction in ultimate *** current paper investigates the design of stiffening systems for OTEC seawater tanks by examining the effects of stiffening parameters such as stiffener sizes and span-over-bay ratio for the applied combined loadings of lateral and transverse pressure by fluid motion and axial compression due to global bending *** ultimate strength calculation was conducted by using the non-linear finite element method via the commercial software known as *** stress and deformation distribution due to pressure loads was computed in the first step and then brought to the second step,in which the axial compression was *** effects of pressure on the ultimate strength of the stiffener were investigated for representative stiffened panels,and the significance of the stiffener parameters was assessed by using the sensitivity analysis *** a result,the ultimate strength was reduced by approximately 1.5%for the span-over-bay ratio of 3 and by 7%for the span-over-bay ratio of 6.

AIM To analyze the origin of the anticipationphenomenon,which means earlier death insuccessive generation in familial *** The study subjects were 2161patients with familial adenomatous polyposisand their 7465 first-degree relatives who weremembers of 750 families registered at ourPolyposis *** ages at death andcumulative mortality rates in the parent,theproband,and the child generations werecompared for both all subjects and the *** In the patients over 5 years of age,the mean age at death was 50.9 years for theparent,42.3 years for the proband,and 33.3years for the child generations,respectively(P<0.001).The deceased rates in the threegenerations were 90.7%,51.3% and 23.1% ofthe patients,respectively,and this differencewas the main cause of the anticipation measuredby parent-child paring *** cumulativemortality rates for all subjects failed to showanticipation,however the cumulative mortalityrates for the patients showed the *** anticipation phenomenon was shown by anyparent-child pairing methods for the *** important causes of theanticipation were different proportion of causesof death between generations(P<0.001),and alow proportion of detected or deceased patients (P<0.001)in the child *** Anticipation in familialadenomatous polyposis may be caused byparent-child paring methods as well as severalintergenerational biases.

An appropriate understanding and accurate estimation of zonal freight production(FP)and attraction(FA)volume is one of the most important topics and the initial step in developing the origin and destination(OD)*** general,zonal FP and FA are difficult to be obtained as observed data,particularly in developing countries,owing to the lack of large-scale freight ***,several proxy indicators are often used for estimating FP and FA,such as the gross regional product(GRP),population,and the number of ***,these indicators do not often estimate the zonal FP and FA accurately and are even not available *** nighttime light intensity(NLI)data that is human-induced light emission data and one of the open alternative data,possibly improves the accuracy of FP and FA ***,few studies have examined the relationship between NLI and FP/***,the objectives of this study are to examine whether NLI can be a significant indicator for estimating zonal FP and FA relative to other socio-economic indicators and to examine the types of NLIs that can accurately estimate the FP and FA through a case study in *** a result of the analysis,NLI data are identified as a significant variable for the estimation of FP and FA among various socio-economic *** some of the indicators related to secondary industries provide higher accuracy,NLI exhibits better estimates than the popular indicators such as GRP and *** addition,we propose three types of total NLI that multiply the unit NLI by the zonal area and this generates higher accuracy of unit NLI,the average light intensity of all pixels in a *** have also found that the use of habitable area for the estimation of total NLI provides the highest accuracy among the four types of NLIs including unit *** the analysis,NLI data is sufficiently applicable for estimating zonal FP and FA,relative to other important socio-economic indicators,although space tr
