Bayesian analysis of time‑varying interactions between stock returns and foreign equity flows

This study discusses the trading behavior of foreign investors with respect to economic uncertainty in the South Korean stock market from a time-varying *** employ a news-based measure of economic uncertainty along with the model of time-varying parameter vector autoregression with stochastic *** empirical analysis reveals several new findings about foreign investors’trading ***,we find evidence that positive feedback trading often appears during periods of high economic uncertainty,whereas negative feedback trading is exclusively observable during periods of low economic ***,the foreign investors’feedback trading appears mostly to be well-timed and often leads the time-varying economic uncertainty except in periods of global ***,lagged negative(positive)response of net flows to economic uncertainty is found to be coupled with lagged positive(negative)feedback ***,the study documents an asymmetric response of foreign investors with regard to negative and positive shocks of economic ***,we find that they instantly turn to positive feedback trading after a negative contemporaneous response of net flows to shocks of economic *** contrast,they move slowly toward negative feedback trading after a positive response of net flows to uncertainty shocks.

Optical near-field excitations were investigated on the basis of molecular alignment control of liquid crystals (LCs) on an optically rewritable nanostructure of photoreactive molecular thin films. Twisted nematic (TN) cells of LC molecules were constructed utilizing ITO substrates with 260 nm gratings of an azobenzene molecular thin film, fabricated using standing evanescent waves. The polarization changes of light transmitted through the TN cells, which were due to the alignment changes of LC molecules locally rubbed by the azobenzene nanogratings, were observed. Furthermore, we demonstrated local plasmon excitation of Au nanowires deposited on the azobenzene nanogratings using oblique vacuum evaporation, a phenomenon that produced strong anti-optical absorption spectra. The modulation of the local plasmon resonance in metallic nanowires decorated with LC molecules was confirmed.

This paper seeks to find a solution to the problem of Youth Unemployment in Sierra Leone. It also looks forward to suggesting ways in which youth employability can be enhanced. Sierra Leone as a post war developing country has enormous challenges in ensuring that its youths are better equipped to take up the responsibility of manning the affairs of the country. The primary focus of my research will be reviewing and analyzing Government reports, published books and Internet materials about youth employment in Sierra Leone. Reference will also be made to the government of Sierra Leone’s effort in tackling youth unemployment and employability. This study is undertaken with reference to the commitment made by President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma G.C.R.S.L. on the occasion of the state opening of the First Session of the Fourth Parliament of the second Republic of Sierra Leone."Let it be known to all that Sierra Leone can only move forward when its youths step forward. I have listened to the youths;I am re-affirming the covenant I made with the youths:I dedicate my life to your service;I submit my administration to your participation, I commit our economy to your employment;I pledge the resources of this country to your education, your acquisition of appropriate skills, and your advancement. Let all be witnesses unto this proclamation:this new social contract;this new economic imperative, this Agenda for Prosperity:we will equitably distribute the fruits of prosperity to all;we will respect the rights of all;we will focus on the training and employment of youths;and we will continue the restoration of discipline, law and order in society." It is against the aforementioned policy statement that this research is going to be undertaken, so as to look into the problems, proffer solutions and recommendations that will capacitate and empower the youths for sustainable employment and job creations.

Thrombocytopenia is a common complication in liver disease and can adversely affect the treatment of liver cirrhosis,limiting the ability to administer therapy and delaying planned surgical/diagnostic procedures because of an increased risk of *** factors,including splenic sequestration,reduced activity of the hematopoietic growth factor thrombopoietin,bone marrow suppression by chronic hepatitis C virus infection and anti-cancer agents,and antiviral treatment with interferon-based therapy,can contribute to the development of thrombocytopenia in cirrhotic *** these factors,the major mechanisms for thrombocytopenia in liver cirrhosis are(1)platelet sequestration in the spleen;and(2)decreased production of thrombopoietin in the *** treatment options,including platelet transfusion,interventional partial splenic embolization,and surgical splenectomy,are now available for severe thrombocytopenia in cirrhotic *** thrombopoietin agonists and targeted agents are alternative tools for noninvasively treating thrombocytopenia due to liver cirrhosis,their ability to improve thrombocytopenia in cirrhotic patients is under investigation in clinical *** this review,we propose a treatment approach to thrombocytopenia according to our novel concept of splenic volume,and we describe the current management of thrombocytopenia due to liver cirrhosis.

It has been found that the silicon nanowires modified with noble metals can be used to fabricate an effective H2 gas sensor in the present *** preparation and surface modification of silicon nanowires(Si NWs) were carried out by chemical methods. The morphology of the silicon nanowires unmodified and modified with nanoparticles of platinum, palladium, silver and gold was investigated using scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The chemical composition of the silicon nanowire layers was studied by secondary ion mass spectroscopy(SIMS) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EDX). The structures of type metal/Si NWs/p-Si/Al were fabricated. The electrical characterization(I–V) was performed in primary vacuum and H2 at different concentrations. It was found that the metal type used to modify the Si NWs strongly influenced the I–V characteristics. The response of these structures toward H2 gas was studied as a function of the metal type. Finally, the sensing characteristics and performance of the sensors were investigated.
