BAcKGROUND Prevalence of hepatocellular carcinoma(Hcc)is increasing,especially in patients with metabolic dysfunctionassociated steatotic liver disease(mASLD).AIm To investigate rifaximin(RIF)effects on epigenetic/autophagy markers in *** Adult Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned(n=8,each)and treated from 5-16 wk:control[standard diet,water plus gavage with vehicle(Veh)],Hcc[high-fat choline deficient diet(HFcD),diethylnitrosamine(DEN)in drinking water and Veh gavage],and RIF[HFcD,DEN and RIF(50 mg/kg/d)gavage].Gene expression of epigenetic/autophagy markers and circulating miRNAs were *** All Hcc and RIF animals developed metabolic-dysfunction associated steatohepatitis fibrosis,and cirrhosis,but three RIF-group did not develop *** animals who developed Hcc with those who did not,miR-122,miR-34a,tubulin alpha-1c(Tuba-1c),metalloproteinases-2(mmp2),and metalloproteinases-9(mmp9)were significantly higher in the *** opposite occurred with Becn1,coactivator associated arginine methyltransferase-1(carm1),enhancer of zeste homolog-2(Ezh2),autophagy-related factor Lc3A/B(map1 Lc3b),and p62/sequestosome-1(p62/SQSTm1)-*** with controls,map1 Lc3b,Becn1 and Ezh2 were lower in Hcc and RIF-groups(Pcarm1 was lower in Hcc compared to RIF(Pc expression of mmp9 was higher in Hcc in relation to the control;the opposite was observed for p62/Sqstm1(Pm1 protein was lower in the RIF-group compared to the control(P=0.024).There was no difference among groups for Tuba-1c,Aldolase-B,alpha-fetoprotein,and mmp2(P>0.05).miR-122 was higher in Hcc,and miR-34a in RIF compared to controls(PmiR-26b was lower in Hcc compared to RIF,and the inverse was observed for miR-224(Pce among groups regarding miR-33a,miR-143,miR-155,miR-375 and miR-21(P>0.05).cONcLUSION RIF might have a possible beneficial effect on preventing/delaying liver carcinogenesis throu

Agriculture is facing a massive increase in demand per hectare as a result of an ever-expanding population and environmental *** we have learned much about how environmental conditions and diseases impact crop yield,until recently considerably less was known concerning endogenous factors,including within-plant nutrient *** this review,we discuss studies of source-sink interactions covering both fundamental research in model systems under controlled growth conditions and how the findings are being translated to crop plants in the *** this respect we detail efforts aimed at improving and/or combining c3,c4,and cAm modes of photosynthesis,altering the chloroplastic electron transport chain,modulating photorespiration,adopting bacterial/algal carbon-concentrating mechanisms,and enhancing nitrogen-and water-use ***,we discuss how modulating TcA cycle activities and primary metabolism can result in increased rates of photosynthesis and outline the opportunities that evaluating natural variation in photosynthesis may *** source,transport,and sink functions are all covered in this review,we focus on discussing source functions because the majority of research has been conducted in this ***,considerable recent evidence,alongside the evidence from classical studies,demonstrates that both transport and sink functions are also incredibly important determinants of *** thus describe recent evidence supporting this notion and suggest that future strategies for yield improvement should focus on combining improvements in each of these steps to approach yield optimization.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron collider,as Standard model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ,ZrO_(2)-8%Y2O_(3))films were deposited onto lanthanum strontium manganite(LSm,La_(0.7)Sr_(0.3)mnO_(3))substrates using dip-coating process aiming for the application in solid oxide fuel cells(SOFcs).YSZ precursor was prepared by sol-gel method;three values of the organic/inorganic concentration ratio(1,3 and 5)were utilized and the sol viscosity was adjusted(60 mPa·s and 100 mPa·s)before deposition on the *** influence of these synthesis parameters on the structure and morphology of the deposited films was examined by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEm).The films showed characteristic peaks of LSm,YSZ(with cubic structure)and secondary phases of SrZrO_(3) and La_(2)O_(3).Depending on the synthesis conditions,crack-free,homogeneous and well adhered films were obtained,with thickness of 11-24μm.

Spouting behavior of binary particle mixtures of different densities: Fluid dynamics and particle segregation

Numerous industrial applications of spouted beds involve a mixture of granular particles, where differences in particle size, density, and shape can cause particle segregation, affecting the quality of flow and decreasing product homogeneity. The aim of this study was to investigate the particle segregation and fluid dynamics of a conical spouted bed operating with a binary mixture of particles of different densities. Using glass beads and polyethylene particles with a diameter of 4 mm, we determined the effects of the mass fraction of denser particles and static bed height on the minimum spouting condition and mixture index. The pressure drop and airflow in the minimum spouting condition increased with an increase in bed height or jetsam concentration. Regarding particle segregation, the jetsam particles tended to concentrate near the bottom, at the spout–annulus interface because they have a shorter trajectory than the lighter particles in the fountain region. Jetsam-rich mixtures with high initial static bed heights exhibited more efficient particle mixing, excluding those at the bottom of the bed.

Germination timing is highly regulated in short-lived plant species since it strongly influences recruitment success of *** deserts,the spatiotemporal distribution of plant-available water is highly episodic and unpredictable,making winter months more favorable for seed germination when other abiotic conditions *** hypothesized that changes in photoperiod and thermoperiod would impact germination more in seeds that had undergone in situ *** assessed 21 annual and short-lived perennial species in the Arabian Desert to find(1)if seeds were dormant at maturity,(2)if in situ seed storage increased germination percentage compared with no storage,(3)if photoperiod and thermoperiod germination requirements were influenced by in situ storage,and(4)if a phylogenetic association in seed germination could be *** of each species collected in early 2017 were divided into two *** was tested for germination within one week(fresh seeds).The other was stored in situ at the maternal location(stored seeds)until October 2017 and tested for seed germination in the first week of *** germination was conducted in incubators at two thermoperiods(15℃/20℃ and 20℃/30℃;12 h/12 h),and two photoperiods(12 and 0 h light per day).Results indicated that seed germination percentages of 13 species were significantly enhanced by in situ storage.A thermoperiod response was exhibited by stored,but not fresh *** exposure increased germination of fresh seeds but had only a minimal effect on stored *** traits exhibited no phylogenetic *** result indicated that selection pressure for germination strategy was stronger than that for taxonomic traits of these desert species.
