Nitrate-induced Biochemical and Histopathological Changes in the Liver of Rats:Ameliorative Effect of Hyparrhenia hirta

Objective The present study investigated the protective role of Hyparrhenia hirta （H. hirta） against sodium nitrate （NaNO3）-induced hepatoxicity. Methods Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups： a control group and two treated groups during 50 d with NaNO3 administered either alone in drinking water or co-administered with H. hit＇to. Results NaNO3 treatment induced a significant increase in serum levels of glucose, total cholesterol and triglyceride while serum total protein level decreased significantly. Transaminases and lactate deshydrogenase activities in serum were elevated indicating hepatic cells＇ damage after treatment with NaNO3. The hyperbilirubinemia and the increased serum gamma glutamyl transferase activities suggested the presence of cholestasis in NaNO3 exposed rats. In parallel, a significant increase in malondialdehyde level along with a concomitant decrease in total glutathione content and superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase activities were observed in the liver after NaNO3 treatment. Furthermore, nitrate caused a significant induction of DNA fragmentation. These modifications in NaNO3-treated rats corresponded histologically with hepatoceltular necrosis and mononuclear cells infiltration. H. hirta supplementation showed a remarkable amelioration of the abnormalities cited above. Conclusion The results concluded that the treatment with H. hirta had a significant role in protecting the animals from nitrate-induced liver dysfunction.

Outcome of Nurses with Occupational Dermatitis

Background: Occupational dermatitis is considered as the second most common occupational disease. It accounts for 25% of all lost workdays. Several international studies reported a prevalence of occupational dermatitis in healthcare workers between 17% and 55%. This study aims to identify factors that affect the professional outcome of nurses suffering from occupational dermatitis. Methods: This was a multicenter cross-sectional study concerning nurses declared having occupational dermatitis in the central region of Tunisia. A synoptic sheet related to socio-professional and administrative data was completed. A self-administered Questionnaire going over medical and occupational characteristics was completed during a direct interview. Results: The study involved forty nurses working in four public hospitals in the center of Tunisia. Only 37 workers were included in the study. A professional reclassification was introduced among 19 workers (51% of study population). Work-station adaptation was requested in 14 cases (38%). Exposure to allergens in the workplace was eliminated in 20 cases. Two study participants were transferred to other departments (5.4%) and three people retired (8.1%). A statistically significant association was found between professional reclassification and a history of allergic manifestations (p = 0.003). Similarly, a significant association was found between professional reclassification and the allergic agent (p = 0.014). Workstation layout was significantly associated with a history of allergic manifestations (p = 0.039), the palm hand location (p = 0.04), professional eviction (p Conclusion: This study identified the main factors influencing the occupational outcome of nurses suffering from occupational dermatitis. This outcome depended on a history of atopy (especially allergic rhinitis) and sensitization to allergens (thiuram mix).

From fraud detection to speech recognition,including price prediction,Machine Learning(ML)applications are manifold and can significantly improve different ***,machine learning models are vulnerable and are exposed to different security and privacy ***,these issues should be addressed while using ML models to preserve the security and privacy of the data *** is a need to secure ML models,especially in the training phase to preserve the privacy of the training datasets and to minimise the information *** this paper,we present an overview of ML threats and vulnerabilities,and we highlight current progress in the research works proposing defence techniques againstML security and privacy *** relevant background for the different attacks occurring in both the training and testing/inferring phases is introduced before presenting a detailed overview of Membership Inference Attacks(MIA)and the related *** this paper,we introduce a countermeasure against membership inference attacks(MIA)on Conventional Neural Networks(CNN)based on dropout and L2 *** experimental analysis,we demonstrate that this defence technique can mitigate the risks of MIA attacks while ensuring an acceptable accuracy of the ***,using CNN model training on two datasets CIFAR-10 and CIFAR-100,we empirically verify the ability of our defence strategy to decrease the impact of MIA on our model and we compare results of five different ***,we present a solution to achieve a trade-off between the performance of themodel and the mitigation of MIA attack.

Tunisian DREEM: Nursing Students’ Perception of the Learning Environment

Objectives: The evaluation of the learning environment has become critical to professional development and student success. This study aims to evaluate the viewpoints of nursing sciences students on the learning environment using the Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) at a Higher Institute of Nursing Sciences in Tunisia. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on 200 students at the Higher Institute of Nursing Sciences. The Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure was used as a worldwide tool. Descriptive statistics and one-way analysis of variance with a post hoc Tukey-Kramer multiple comparisons test were used for data analysis. Results: The total mean score on the 50-item DREEM inventory was 111.9 out of a maximum of 200. Students’ perceptions of learning, their teachers, their academic self, and of the atmosphere were more positive than negative. Student social self-perception was negatively evaluated. Students were not satisfied with the support system in the institute. The DREEM score was significantly higher for the students in the first year of study (P Conclusion: This is the first study in Tunisia assessing the nursing learning environment;it showed a positive assessment. Therefore, improvements are required, especially in the learning and social domains of the educational environment.

Objective: To examine the potential antimicrobial activity of Euphorbia paralias L.(Euphorbiaeae) leaves and stems ***: The antimicrobial activity was tested against six microbial strains: Escherichia coli ATCC 8739, Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Salmonella enterica CIP 8039, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 9027 and Candida albicans ATCC 90028 by two different methods, the disk method and the dilution ***: Our results showed the important antimicrobial activity of the chloroform extract of the stems towards the majority of the strains by using both methods. Bacillus subtilis was the most sensitive strain(MIC = MBC = 15 mg/mL).Conclusion: Thus, some extracts of Euphorbia paralias can be used in the treatment of infectious diseases caused by microbes.

Objective: To explore anti-inflammatory activities of organic extract and its semi-purified fractions(ethanol, acetone, methanol/dichloromethane) from the Mediterranean gorgonian Eunicella singularis. Methods: The anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities were evaluated, using the carrageenan-induced rat paw edema model and the acetic acid writhing test in mice. The gastroprotective activity was determined using HCl/Et OH induced gastric ulcers in rats. The purification and structure elucidation of compound(s) from the more effective fraction were determined by chromatographic and spectroscopic methods and in comparison with data reported in the literature. Results: The fraction F-Et OH showed an important antiinflammatory activity associated with significant analgesic and gastroprotective properties. The purification and structure elucidation of compound(s) from this fraction lead to the identification of one diterpenoid and four sterols. Conclusions: These results suggested that components from the active fraction can be used to treat various anti-inflammatory diseases.

Energy production from renewable sources offers an efficient alternative non-polluting and sustainable solution. Among renewable energies, solar energy represents the most important source, the most efficient and the least expensive compared to other renewable sources. Electric power generation systems from the sun’s energy typically characterized by their low efficiency. However, it is known that photovoltaic pumping systems are the most economical solution especially in rural areas. This work deals with the modeling and the vector control of a solar photovoltaic (PV) pumping system. The main objective of this study is to improve optimization techniques that maximize the overall efficiency of the pumping system. In order to optimize their energy efficiency whatever, the weather conditions, we inserted between the inverter and the photovoltaic generator (GPV) a maximum power point adapter known as Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). Among the various MPPT techniques presented in the literature, we adopted the adaptive neuro-fuzzy controller (ANFIS). In addition, the performance of the sliding vector control associated with the neural network was developed and evaluated. Finally, simulation work under Matlab / Simulink was achieved to examine the performance of a photovoltaic conversion chain intended for pumping and to verify the effectiveness of the speed control under various instructions applied to the system. According to the study, we have done on the improvement of sliding mode control with neural network. Note that the sliding-neuron control provides better results compared to other techniques in terms of improved chattering phenomenon and less deviation from its reference.

A two variable refined plate theory for the bending analysis of functionally graded plates

bending analysis of functionally graded plates using the two variable refined plate theory is presented in this *** number of unknown functions involved is reduced to merely four,as against five in other shear deformation theories. The variationally consistent theory presented here has, in many respects,strong similarity to the classical plate theory. It does not require shear correction factors,and gives rise to such transverse shear stress variation that the transverse shear stresses vary parabolically across the thickness and satisfy shear stress free surface *** properties of the plate are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction with their distributions following a simple power-law in terms of the volume fractions of the *** equations are derived from the principle of virtual displacements, and a closed-form solution is found for a simply supported rectangular plate subjected to sinusoidal loading by using the Navier *** results obtained by the present theory are compared with available solutions,from which it can be concluded that the proposed theory is accurate and simple in analyzing the static bending behavior of functionally graded plates.

Isolation of bioactive antioxidant compounds from the aerial parts of Allium roseum *** *** Regel.

Objective:To assess the antioxidant activity of aerial parts of Allium roseum *** *** Regel.(*** *** *** Regel.)for the first time,as well as to isolate the main bioactive ***:The chloroformic extract of Allium roseum(***)and their fractions obtained by subjection to a chromatographic study were tested for their antioxidant activities by using 2,2-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2′-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)*** activity-guided purification was conducted to isolate five compounds in pure form where their structures were identified by means of nuclear magnetic resonance analyses,including 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance ***:The evaluation of the antioxidant activity of chloroformic extract and their fractions from *** *** *** *** interesting *** active chloroformic extract afforded five isolated compounds where their structures were identified as β-sitosterol(1),chrysoeriol(2),luteolin(3),apigenin(4),andβ-sitosterol 3-O-β-D-glucoside(5).All the compounds were isolated for the first time from the *** *** *** *** three flavonoids(2–4)exhibited the highest antioxidant activity with IC_(50) values of 62.28,21.26 and 513.42μg/mL,respectively(2,2-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl assay)and 218.00,73.50 and 877.66μg/mL,respectively[2,2′-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)assay].An important value of trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity(2.10 mmol/L)was reported for luteolin(3).Conclusions:These results may suggest that the *** *** *** *** great potential as a source of a natural preservative ingredient in beneficial for natural health products.
