Detection of Schistosoma Antibodies and exploration of associated factors among local residents around Inlay Lake,Southern Shan State,Myanmar

Background:Schistosomiasis is a chronic parasitic disease caused by blood flukes(trematode worms)of the genus *** transmission has been reported in 78 countries affecting at least 258 million people *** was documented that *** species was prevalent in Shan State,Myanmar,but the serological study was not conducted *** objective of the present study was to detect schistosoma antibodies and explore associated factors among local residents living around Inlay Lake,nya.ng Shwe Township,and Southern Shan State,***:An exploratory and cross-sectional analytic study was conducted among local residents(n=315)in selected rural health center(RHC)areas from December 2012 through June *** participants were interviewed with pretested semi-structured questionnaires and their blood samples(serum)were tested using Schistosomiasis Serology Microwell ELISA test kits(sensitivity 100%and specificity 85%)which detected IgG antibodies but could not distinguish between a.new and past *** collected were analysed by SPSS software 16.0 and associations of variables were determined by Chi-squared test with a significant level set at ***:Schistosoma seroprevalence(IgG)in study area was found to be 23.8%(95%CI:18.8-28.8%).The present study is the first and foremost study producing serological evidence of schistosoma infection-one of the neglected tropical diseases-in local people of *** factors significantly associated with seropositivity were being male[OR=2.6(95%CI:1.5-4.49),Pnce[OR=3.41(95%CI:1.6-7.3),Pa.ng Da.ng *** Cha.ng]and education levels[OR=4.5(95%CI:1.18-17.16),Pnd OR=3.16(95%CI:1.26-7.93),Pnificantly associated with ***:Schistosoma infection s

Fast integral equation solver for Maxwell's equations in layered media with FMM for Bessel functions

The paper presents a.new fast integral equation solver for Maxwell＇s equations in 3-D layered media. First, the spectral doma.n dyadic Green＇s function is derived, and the 0-th and the 1-st order Hankel transforms or Sommerfeld-type integrals are used to recover all components of the dyadic Green＇s function in real space. The Hankel transforms are performed with the adaptive generalized Gaussian quadrature points and window functions to minimize the computational cost. Subsequently, a fast integral equation solver with O（n2znxny log（nzny）） in layered media is developed by rewriting the layered media integral operator in terms of Hankel transforms and using the new fast multipole method for the n-th order Bessel function in 2-D. Computational cost and parallel efficiency of the new algorithm are presented.

Severe thrombocytopa.nia in patients with vivax malaria compared to falciparum malaria:a systematic review and meta.nalysis

Plant Cell Wall Proteomics： Mass Spectrometry Data, a Trove for Research on Protein Structure/Function Relationships

Proteomics allows the large-scale study of protein expression either in whole organisms or in purified organelles. In particular, mass spectrometry （MS） analysis of gel-separated proteins produces data.not only for protein identification, but for protein structure, location, and processing as well. An in-depth analysis was performed on MS data from etiolated hypocotyl cell wall proteomics ofArabidopsis thaliana. These analyses show that highly homologous members of multigene families can be differentiated. Two lectins presenting 93% amino acid identity were identified using peptide mass fingerprinting. Although the identification of structural proteins such as extensins or hydroxyproline/proline-rich proteins （H/PRPs） is arduous, different types of MS spectra were exploited to identify and characterize an H/PRP. Maturation events in a couple of cell wall proteins （CWPs） were analyzed using site mapping. n-glycosylation of CWPs as well as the hydroxylation or oxidation of amino acids were also explored, adding information to improve our understanding of CWP structure/function relationships. A bioinformatic tool was developed to locate by means of MS the n-terminus of mature secreted proteins and n-glycosylation.

Experimental Analysis of Atypically Long Finned Oscillating Heat Pipe for Ventilation Waste Heat Recovery Application

Oscillating heat pipes(OHP)which are constructed from a serpentine-arranged capillary tube possess a desirable aerodynamic form factor and provide for relatively high heat transfer rates via cyclic evaporation and condensation of an encapsulated working fluid with no internal wicking structure *** last two decades,OHP has been extensively investigated for its potential application in thermal management of various *** study presents an experimental investigation on the heat transfer performance of an atypically long finned *** heat transfer performance of the proposed OHP was analyzed and compared with a bare tube OHP with similar overall *** show that a unit row of finned OHP filled with n-pentane with fill ratio of 70%can recover up to(400±40)W of heat from a typical waste exhaust air *** additional pressure drop due to fins was estimated to be(6.8±2)Pa resulting in an increase of 1–2 W of fan power *** average heat recovery rate via finned OHP was found to be almost 80%more than bare tube OHP filled with same working fluid with same fill ratio.

Quantum logic operations on two distant atoms trapped in two optical-fibre-connected cavities

Based on the coupling of two distant three-level atoms in two separate optical cavities connected with two optical fibres, schemes on the generation of several two-qubit logic gates are discussed under the conditions of △ = δ- 2v cos πk/2 〉〉 g/2 and v-g. Discussion and analysis of the fidelity, gate time and experimental setups show that our schemes are feasible with current optical cavity, atomic trap and optical fibre techniques. Moreover, the atom-cavityfibre coupling can be used to generate an n-qubit nonlocal entanglement and transfer quantum information among n distant atoms by arranging n atom cavity assemblages in a line and connecting each two adjacent cavities with two optical fibres.

Microstructure, precipitates and mechanical properties of powder bed fused inconel 718 before and after heat treatment

In718 alloy was fabricated by laser powder bed fusion(PBF) for examination of microstructure, precipitates and mechanical properties in the as-built state and after different heat treatments. The as-built alloy had a characteristic fine cellular-dendritic microstructure with nb, Mo and Ti segregated along the interdendritic region and cellular boundary. The as-built alloys were then subjected to solution heat treatment(SHT) at 980°C or 1065°C for 1 h. SHT at 980°C led to the formation of δ-phase in the interdendritic region or cellular boundary. The segregation was completely removed by the SHT at 1065°C, but recrystallization was observed, and the carbides decorated along the gra.n boundaries. The as-built alloy and alloys with SHT at 980°C and 1065°C were two-step aged, which consisted of a.nealing at 720°C for8 h followed by a.nealing at 620°C for 8 h. Transmission electron microscopy revealed the precipitation of λ’ and λ" in all alloys after two-step aging, but the amount and uniformity of distribution varied. The Vickers hardness of the PBF In718 alloy increased from 296 HV to 467 HV after direct aging. The hardness decreased to 267 HV and 235 HV after SHT at 980°C and 1065°C, respectively, but increased to 458 HV and 477 HV followed by aging. The evolution of Young’s modulus after heat treatment exhibited similar trend to that of hardness. The highest hardness was observed for In718 after SHT at 1065°C and two-step aging due to precipitation with greater amount and uniform distribution.

The latest developments in bio-inspired neuromorphic vision sensors can be summarized in 3 keywords:smaller,faster,and smarter.(1)Smaller:Devices are becoming more compact by integrating previously separated components such as sensors,memory,and processing *** a prime example,the transition from traditional sensory vision computing to in-sensor vision computing has shown clear benefits,such as simpler circuitry,lower power consumption,and less data redundancy.(2)Swifter:Owing to the nature of physics,smaller and more integrated devices can detect,process,and react to input more *** addition,the methods for sensing and processing optical information using various materials(such as oxide semiconductors)are evolving.(3)Smarter:Owing to these two ma.n research directions,we can expect advanced applications such as adaptive vision sensors,collision sensors,and nociceptive *** review ma.nly focuses on the recent progress,working mechanisms,image pre-processing techniques,and advanced features of two types of neuromorphic vision sensors based on near-sensor and in-sensor vision computing methodologies.

Strongly Anchoring Polysulfides by Hierarchical Fe3O4/C3n4 nanostructures for Advanced Lithium-Sulfur Batteries

Li-S batteries have attracted considerable interest as nextgeneration energy storage devices owing to high energy density and the natural abundance of ***,the practical applications of Li-S batteries are hampered by the shuttle effect of soluble lithium polysulfides(LPS),which results in low cycle ***,a functional interlayer has been developed to efficiently regulate the LPS and enhance the sulfur utilization using hierarchical nanostructure of C3 n4(t-C3 n4)embedded with Fe304 nanospheres.t-C3 n4 exhibits high surface area and strong anchoring of LPS,and the Fe3 O4/t-C3 n4 accelerates the anchoring of LPS and improves the electronic *** combination of these materials leads to remarkable battery performance with 400%improvement in a specific capacity and a low capacity decay per cycle of 0.02%at 2 C over 1000 cycles,and stable cycling at 6.4 mg cm-2 for high-sulfur-loading cathode.
