magnesium is an excellent material in terms of biocompatibility and its corrosion products can serve as an active source for new bone ***,localized corrosion and H_(2)generation limit the potential of mg-based *** low-alloyed mg-Zn wires can strongly reduce problems with large H_(2)bubbles and improve the mechanical properties considerably while maintaining excellent long-term *** pickling and a polymer coating can be effectively used to lower the rate of in vivo *** this work,microstructural,mechanical,and in vitro characterization of 250μm and 300μm extruded wires made fr.m.ultra-pure mg,commercially pure mg,mg-0.15Zn,mg-0.4Zn and mg-1Zn was ***,mg-0.4Zn wires together with a variant coated with a copolymer of L-lactide andε-caprolactone were tested in vivo on artificially damaged Wistar rat *** on the observed mg-induced osteogenesis,polymer-coated mg wires with a small addition of Zn are a perspective material for bone-support applications,such as cerclage and fixation wires.

Background:Impairments in hamstring strength,flexibility,and morphology have been associated with altered knee biomechanics,pain,and *** the presence of these impairments in individuals with gradual-onset knee disorders is important and may indicate targets for assessment and *** systematic review aimed to synthesize the literature to determine the presence of impairments in hamstring strength,flexibility,and morphology in individuals with gradual-onset knee ***:Five databases(mEDLINE,Embase,CINAHL,SPOrTDiscus,and Web of Science)were searched fr.m.inception to September *** studies comparing hamstring outcomes(e.g.,strength,flexibility,and/or.m.rphology)between individuals with gradual-onset knee disorders and their unaffected limbs or pain-free controls were ***-analyses for each knee disorder were ***-level certainty was assessed using the Grading of recommendations Assessment,Development,and Evaluation,and evidence gap maps were ***:Seventy-nine studies across 4 different gradual-onset knee disorders(i.e.,knee osteoarthritis(OA),patellofemoral pain(PFP),chondr.m.lacia patellae,and patellar tendinopathy)were *** with knee OA presented with reduced hamstring strength compared to pain-free controls during isometric(standard mean difference(SmD)=-0.76,95%confidence interval(95%CI):-1.32 to-0.21)and concentric contractions(SmD=-0.97,95%CI:-1.49 to-0.45).Individuals with PFP presented with reduced hamstring strength compared to painfree controls during isometric(SmD=-0.48,95%CI:-0.82 to-0.14),concentric(SmD=-1.07,95%CI:-2.08 to-0.06),and eccentric contractions(SmD=-0.59,95%CI:-0.97 to-0.21).No differences were observed in individuals with patellar *** with PFP presented with reduced hamstring flexibility when compared to pain-free controls(SmD=-0.76,95%CI:-1.15 to-0.36).Evidence gap maps identified insufficient evidence for chondr.m.lacia patel

Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy,including chronic hypertension,gestational hypertension,and preeclampsia,are the most common complications in pregnant women,affecting approximately 15%of pregnancies.[1,2]Hemolysis,elevated liver enzymes,and low platelet count(HELLP syndr.m.)can occur in 0.2%-0.6%of all pregnancies,and 10%-15%of patients are diagnosed with preeclampsia.[3,4]Among its severe complications,liver hematoma is r.m.rkable and may lead to liver *** identification of HELLP syndr.m. is crucial for proper therapeutic management and to avoid fatal outcomes[4,5]since when a hepatic hematoma occurs,the risk of rupture increases to 12%.[3,5]

Nuclear radiation shielding effectiveness and corrosion behavior of some steel alloys for nuclear reactor systems

Different types of nuclear par.m.ters and corrosion behavior were deduced for carbon steel(AISI 1018),austenitic(304 SS),and duplex(2507 SS)stainless steel *** types of neutron energies as well as nine gamma ray energy lines(121.78-1407.92 keV)were used to evaluate the macroscopic neutron cross-sections(∑,cm^-1)and mass attenuation coefficients[σ,cm^2·g^-1)of gamma ray *** corrosion behavior was investigated using different electrochemical *** results showed that the stainless-steel alloys had a good attitude than that of carbon steel alloy for neutron and gamma ray par.m.ters,especially the duplex stainless *** calculated values of mass attenuation coefficient using WinXcom computer progr.m.Version 3.1),exhibited a very good agreement with the exper.m.ntal values of that ***,the results indicated that duplex stainless-steel exhibited corrosion resistance higher than 304 SS and AISI 1018 steel alloys.

Single atom Cu-N-C catalysts for the electro-reduction of CO_(2) to CO assessed by rotating ring-disc electrode

The electrochemical CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)rr) to controllable chemicals is considered as a pr.m.sing pathway to store intermittent renewable energy. Herein, a set of catalysts based on copper-nitrogendoped carbon xerogel(Cu-N-C) are successfully developed varying the copper amount and the nature of the copper precursor, for the efficient CO_(2)rr. The electrocatalytic performance of Cu-N-C materials is assessed by a rotating ring-disc electrode(rrDE), technique still rarely explored for CO_(2)rr. For comparison, products are also characterized by online gas chr.m.tography in a H-cell. The as-synthesized Cu-NC catalysts are found to be active and highly CO selective at low overpotentials(fr.m.-0.6 to -0.8 V ***) in 0.1 m KHCO_(3), while H_(2) fr.m.the competitive water reduction appears at larger overpotentials(-0.9 V vs. rHE). The optimum copper acetate-derived catalyst containing Cu-N_(4) moieties exhibits a CO_(2)-to-CO turnover frequency of 997 h^(-1) at -0.9 V vs. rHE with a H_(2)/CO ratio of 1.8. These results demonstrate that rrDE configuration can be used as a feasible approach for identifying electrolysis products fr.m.CO_(2)rr.

Effect of proton irradiation on the optical properties of thermal control coating based on polystyrene with silica filler

This paper presents the results of studying the surface properties changes of a ther.m.regulating coating based on polystyrene and silicaﬁller after proton irradiation with an en-ergy of 50 keV at afluence of 3�1015 cm�*** proton irradiation,the values of the contact angle of wetting with water increase by 3.5%and 14.9%for polystyrene and the coating,*** free surface energy(energy of the surface layer)of polystyrene and the coat-ings before and after proton irradiation was calculated using the Owens-Wendt-rabel-Kaelble *** was a signiﬁcant increase in the polarity of the polystyrene surface(gp increased by a factor of 2.2)after proton *** the coating,an increase in gp by a factor of 3.89 was observed after proton *** changes in the coating were presented by Ir Fourier spectroscopy.A slight decrease in the absorption intensity of all characteristic bands compared to the unirradiated sample was *** was found that the irradiation of the coating with protons led to the formation of macr.m.lecules with hydroxyl,carbonyl,and carboxyl bonds,as well as the formation of dimeric and oligomeric siloxane *** was also found that after irradiation of a pure polystyrene sample with protons,the value of the solar absorption as increased by only 4.2%;whereas for the coating with silicaﬁller,the value of as increased by 28.6%.

Frequency-dependent viscoelasticity effects on the wave attenuation performance of multi-layered periodic foundations

In this paper,layered periodic foundations(LPFs)are numerically examined for their responses to longitudinal and transverse modes in the time and frequency *** different unit-cells,i.e.,2-layer,4-layer,and 6-layer unit-cells,comprising concrete/rubber,concrete/rubber/steel/rubber,and concrete/rubber/steel/rubber/lead/rubber.m.terials,respectively,are taken into ***,the viscoelasticity behavior of the rubber is modeled with two factors,i.e.,a frequency-independent(FI)loss factor and a linear frequency-dependent(FD)loss *** the extraction of the complex dispersion curves and the identification of the band gaps(BGs),the simulations of wave transmission in the time and frequency domains are performed using the COmSOL *** par.m.tric studies evaluate the effects of the rubber viscoelasticity models on the dispersion curves and the wave transmission for the longitudinal and transverse *** results show that considering the rubber viscoelasticity enhances the wave attenuation ***,the transverse-mode damping is more sensitive to the viscoelasticity model than its longitudinal *** 6-layer unit-cell LPF exhibits the lowest BG,ranging fr.m.4.8 Hz to 6.5 Hz.
