The high demand for critical minerals such as lithium,copper,nickel,and cobalt,required for lithium-ion batteries,has raised questions regarding the feasibility of maintaining a steady and affordable supply of raw materials for their *** the last years,researchers have shifted their attention toward organic materials,which are potentially more widely available,affordable,and sustainable due to the ubiquitous presence of the constituent organic *** n-type materials have a redox mechanism analogous to that of lithium-ion cathodes and anodes,hence they are suitable for a meaningful comparison with the state-of-the-art *** many reviews have evaluated the properties of organic materials at the material or electrode level,herein,the properties of n-type organic materials are assessed in a complex system,such as a full battery,to evaluate the feasibility and performance of these materials in commercial-scale battery *** most relevant cathode materials for organic batteries are reviewed,and a detailed cost and performance analysis of n-type material-based battery packs using the BatPaC 5.0 software is *** analysis considers the influence of electrode design choices,such as the conductive carbon content,active material mass loading,and electrode density,on energy density and *** potential of n-type organic materials as a low-cost and sustainable solution for energy storage applications is highlighted,while emphasizing the need for further advancements of organic materials for energy storage applications.

In some cases, illumination of traditional thermal catalysts and tailored plasmonic photocatalysts may synergistically combine thermal and nonthermal mechanisms to enhance reaction rates and improve product selectivity at reduced temperatures. To understand how these attributes are achieved in plasmon-driven catalysis, these intertwined thermal and nonthermal effects must be untangled. Here, we show how a novel indirect illumination technique, in conjunction with precisely monitored thermal profiles of the catalyst, can confirm and clarify the role of nonthermal effects in plasmon-enhanced carbon dioxide methanation on a Rh/TiO2 photocatalyst. We find that the extracted nonthermal methane production rate has a linear dependence on the top surface temperature, distinctly different from an exponential dependence for thermal catalysis. We also find that the apparent quantum efficiency from the nonthermal contribution has no dependence on light intensity but maintains a linear dependence on top surface temperatures between 200 and 350℃. The clear exposition of nonthermal effects in the Rh/TiO2 plasmonic photocatalyst illustrates how this methodology may be applied for the quantitative evaluation of thermal and nonthermal light effects in other plasmon-enhanced catalytic reactions.

An attempt was made to deposit thin film of silver onto the glass substrate by using Ag Cl precursor, instead of conventional precursor AgNO_3 with vitamin C by inexpensive and convenient successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction(SILAR) method. The deposited silver thin film was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis, scanning electron microscope(SEM), UV-visible and electrical I-V study. The diffraction study showed FCC structure of metallic silver in good agreement with the standard values of JCPDS(04–0783). SEM reveals flower like nano particles produced on the substrate. The surface plasmon resonance(SPR) peak in the UV-visible spectrum shows maximum absorption at 350 nm. The film shows an ohmic behavior and its electrical resistivity was found ~103 ?·cm at room temperature.

Multi-length scale modeling is performed to(i)predict the carburized case depth of SAE8620 steel gears by solving the Fick’s second law of diffusion,(ii)model the martensitic microstructure evolution in a grain inside the carburized case as well as to study the effect of stress cycling on retained austenite(RA)and martensite using a 3D phase-field model,(iii)simulate the effect of carburization and different RA contents on macroscale fatigue behavior of SAE8620 steel spur gear using the finite element *** diffusion model predicts that the case depth increases with increasing heat treatment time and *** phase-field simulations show that RA can transform to martensite during fatigue loading,where the extent of the transformation will depend on the type of stresses applied,*** in a high stress regime or low stress regime of fatigue *** transformation of martensite to austenite is also observed in low RA sample under high stress *** macroscale simulations show that the carburized case with high RA gives rise to better fatigue life compared to that with low RA.

The low yield and poor fuel properties of bio-oil have made the pyrolysis production process uneconomic and also limited bio-oil *** manipulation of key pyrolysis variables is paramount in order to produce high-quality bio-oil that requires less *** this research,the pyrolysis of pig hair was carried out in a fixed-bed reactor using a calcium oxide catalyst derived from calcination of turtle *** the pyrolysis process,the influence of three variables-temperature,heating rate and catalyst weight-on two responses-bio-oil yield and its higher heating value(HHV)-were investigated using Response Surface Methodology.A second-order regression-model equation was obtained for each *** optimum yield of the bio-oil and its HHV were obtained as 51.03%and 21.87 mJ/kg,respectively,at 545oC,45.17oC/min and 2.504 g of pyrolysis temperature,heating rate and catalyst weight,*** high R2 values of 0.9859 and 0.9527,respectively,obtained for the bio-oil yield and its HHV models using analysis of variance revealed that the models can adequately predict the bio-oil yield and its HHV from the pyrolysis process.

AIM To examine the relationship of chronic scheduled opioid use on symptoms, healthcare utilization and employment in gastroparesis(Gp) patients. Methods Patients referred to our tertiary care academic center from May 2016 to July 2017, with established diagnosis or symptoms suggestive of Gp filled out the Patient Assessment of Upper GI Symptoms, abdominal pain and demographics questionnaires, and underwent gastric emptying and blood tests. They were asked about taking pain medicines and the types, doses, and duration. We used Mann Whitney U test, Analysis of Variance, Student's t test and χ2 tests where appropriate for data *** Of 223 patients with delayed gastric emptying, 158(70.9%) patients were not taking opioids(Gp NO), 22(9.9%) were taking opioids only as needed, while 43(19.3%) were on chronic(> 1 mo) scheduled opioids(Gp CO), of which 18 were taking opioids forreasons that included gastroparesis and/or stomach pain. Median morphine equivalent use was 60 mg per day. Gp CO reported higher severities of many gastrointestinal symptoms compared to Gp NO including nausea(mean ± SE of mean of 4.09 ± 0.12 vs 3.41 ± 0.12, P = 0.011), retching(2.86 ± 0.25 vs 1.98 ± 0.14, P = 0.003), vomiting(2.93 ± 0.24 vs 2.07 ± 0.15, P = 0.011), early satiety(4.17 ± 0.19 vs 3.57 ± 0.12, P = 0.004), post-prandial fullness(4.14 ± 0.18 vs 3.63 ± 0.11, P = 0.022), loss of appetite(3.64 ± 0.21 vs 3.04 ± 0.13, P = 0.039), upper abdominal pain(3.86 ± 0.20 vs 2.93 ± 0.13, P = 0.001), upper abdominal discomfort(3.74 ± 0.19 vs 3.09 ± 0.13, P = 0.031), heartburn during day(2.55 ± 0.27 vs 1.89 ± 0.13, P = 0.032), heartburn on lying down(2.76 ± 0.28 vs 1.94 ± 0.14, P = 0.008), chest discomfort during day(2.42 ± 0.20 vs 1.83 ± 0.12, P = 0.018), chest discomfort at night(2.40 ± 0.23 vs 1.61 ± 0.13, P = 0.003), regurgitation/reflux during day(2.77 ± 0.25 vs 2.18 ± 0.13, P = 0.040) and bitter/acid/sour taste in the mouth(2.79 ± 0.27 vs 2.11 ± 0.14, P = 0.028). Treecode algorithms are widely used in evaluation of N-body pairwise interactions in O(N)or O(NlogN)*** they can provide high accuracy approximations,a criticism leveled at the methods is that they lack global *** this work,we study the effect of smoothness on the accuracy of treecodes by comparing three tricubic interpolation based treecodes with differing smoothness properties:a global C^(1) continuous tricubic,and two new tricubic interpolants,one that is globally C^(0) continuous and one that is *** present numerical results which show that higher smoothness leads to higher accuracy for properties dependent on the derivatives of the kernel,nevertheless the global C^(0) continuous and discontinuous treecodes are competitive with the C^(1) continuous *** advantage of the discontinuous treecode over the C^(1) continuous is that,in addition to function evaluations,the discontinuous treecode only requires evaluations of the first derivatives of the kernel while the C^(1) continuous treecode requires evaluations up to third order *** the first derivatives are computed using finite differences,the discontinuous version can be viewed as kernel independent and of utility for a wider array of kernels with minimal effort.
