Paleo-productivity and petroleum source evaluation of the Nkporo and Awgu shales, Lower Benue Trough, Nigeria: Insight from inorganic geochemistry

The petroleum paleo-productivity and generative potential of the Nkporo and Awgu shales in the Lower Benue Trough (LBT) were studied. Major oxides were determined using Spectro Ciros Inductively-coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES) while trace and rare earth elements were determined using an ELAN 9000 Inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS). The shales have Co/Ni ratios greater than 0.1 suggesting oil source rocks with more marine source input due to brief marine incursion in the transition zone after deposition. The very low Ni values and moderate V values, and a lack of correlation between the TOC and sulphur content, suggests that the organic matter is of terrestrial Type Ⅲ;and the very low paleo-productivity (Ba/Al and P/Ti ratios) suggests that the organic matter is of terrestrial origin. The low V/Ni values of the Nkporo and Awgu shales (Av. ≈ 4) and the high metal concentrations indicate a matured status. From the K/Rb ratios of the Nkporo (191–259) and Awgu shales (198–261), it can be deduced that the organic matter within the shales experienced a considerable loss of K and the shales are mature to generate gaseous hydrocarbons.

Chemical enhanced oil recovery(c-EOR)is a conventional and promising strategy to recover oil from reservoir techniques such as low salinity water flooding(LSWF),surfactant flooding,alkaline flooding,polymers flooding,and nanofluid *** use of various types of chemical materials for c-EOR method has recently attracted the attention of the oil and gas *** primary objective of this review work is to explore the synergy of low salinity water/surfactant/nanoparticle flooding for effective c-EOR method and investigate the mechanism behind these *** advantages of combining these chemical materials for c-EOR methods is also *** and limitations of this synergy and their economic feasibility for additional oil recovery and potential return on investment are *** have been successfully used in various applications in several industries and have also shown good application for EOR in terms of wettability *** contributes to wettability alteration,while surfactant contributes to wettability alteration and interfacial tension(IFT)***,fines migration caused by LSWF and nanoparticle agglomeration can cause formation damage,while excessive surfactant adsorption can lead to cost overrun on surfactant *** the characteristics of reservoir formation mineralogy and appropriate nanoparticle type,size,and concentration can be used to resolve this *** synergy of LSWF and nanoparticles in alkaline medium can serve as sacrificial agent to reduce excessive surfactant ***,the appropriate synergistic formulation of LSFW/surfactant/nanoparticle can improve additional oil recovery and support return on investment for c-EOR projects.

BacKGROUND Osteoarthritis(OA)is the most common cause of pain and disability,predominantly affecting the *** current management of knee OA falls short of completely stopping disease progression,particularly in Kellgren-Lawrence(KL)grade 3 and 4 knee *** such,joint replacement is often recommended,although only 15%-33%of candidates accept *** therapeutic options are still needed to prevent the progression of joint damage and delay the need for knee *** To investigate the effect of adjunctive platelet rich plasma(PRP)and hyaluronic acid(HA)after arthroscopic debridement in KL grade 3 and 4 knee *** This retrospective cohort study used the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMac)score and WOMac sub-scores(pain,stiffness,and function)to assess 21 patients,grouped according to medical record data of treatment received:Arthroscopic debridement(n=7);arthroscopic debridement with PRP(n=7);or arthroscopic debridement with HA(n=7).WOMac scores and sub-scores at baseline and at 3 mo and 5 mo posttreatment were *** three-group data were statistically analyzed using the tests of paired t,one-way analysis of variance,and post hoc least significant *** All three treatment groups showed significant improvements in WOMac score and sub-scores from before treatment to 3 mo and 5 mo after ***,the arthroscopic debridement with PRP treatment group,in particular,showed a significantly lower WOMac pain score than the group who received arthroscopic debridement alone at 5 mo after the procedure(P=0.03).CONCLUSION Compared to arthroscopic debridement alone,adjunctive PRP after arthroscopic debridement significantly lessened the patients’pain symptom.

Rationally,engineering a favorable physicochemical microenvironment for enzymes has recently emerged as an effective strategy to improve their catalytic *** this review,we discuss four microenvironmental effects according to the mechanism of action:localizing and excluding reactants and regulators,regulating microenvironmental pH,creating a water-like microenvironment,and increasing the local *** mechanisms are enzyme-independent and can in principle be used in combination to tailor enzyme behaviors,offering new approaches to enabling,enhancing,and regulating enzyme catalysis in diverse applications without the need for genetic engineering.

We introduce Crystal Edge Graph Attention Neural Network (CEGANN) workflow that uses graph attention-based architecture tolearn unique feature representations and perform classification of materials across multiple scales (from atomic to mesoscale) anddiverse classes ranging from metals, oxides, non-metals to hierarchical materials such as zeolites and semi-ordered *** can classify based on a global, structure-level representation such as space group and dimensionality (e.g., bulk, 2D,clusters, etc.). Using representative materials such as polycrystals and zeolites, we demonstrate its transferability in performing localatom-level classification tasks, such as grain boundary identification and other heterointerfaces. CEGANN classifies in (thermal)noisy dynamical environments as demonstrated for representative zeolite nucleation and growth from an amorphous ***, we use CEGANN to classify multicomponent systems with thermal noise and compositional diversity. Overall, our approachis material agnostic and allows for multiscale feature classification ranging from atomic-scale crystals to heterointerfaces tomicroscale grain boundaries.
