Rice （Oryza sativa） is one of the most important staple food crops for more than half of the world＇s population. The demand is increasing for food security because of population growth and environmental challenges triggered by climate changes. This scenario has led to more interest in developing crops with greater productivity and sustainability. The process of genetic transformation, a major tool for crop improvement, utilizes promoters as one of its key elements. Those promoters are generally divided into three types： constitutive, spatiotemporal, and condition-dependent. Tran- scriptional control of a constitutive promoter often leads to reduced plant growth, due to a negative effect of accumu- lated molecules during cellular functions or energy consump- tion. To maximize the effect of a transgene on transgenic plants, it is better to use condition-dependent or tissue- specific promoters. However, until now, those types have not been as widely applied in crop biotechnology. In this review, we introduce and discuss four groups of tissue-specific promoters （5o promoters in total） and six groups of condition-dependent promoters （27 promoters）. These pro- moters can be utilized to fine-tune desirable agronomic traits and develop crops with tolerance to various stresses, enhanced nutritional value, and advanced productivity.

Comparative experiments and theoretical analysis of the surface chemistry changes of goethite(GT)and goethite containing Ni(GTN)in the lattice in the presence of salicylhydroxamic acid(SA)were *** was revealed that in the presence of 100 g·t^(-1)of SA,the flotation recovery of GTN and GT increased with increasing pH,achieving a maximum recovery of 98.9%for both minerals at p H 8.3 and decreasing beyond that pH,with GTN having a slightly higher recovery than GT,except at pH *** was further confirmed by the higher complexation energies of GTN···SA(-883.87 kJ·mol^(-1))compared with GT···SA(-604.23 kJ·mol^(-1))resulting from covalent,closed-shell,and conventional hydrogen *** higher adsorption of SA onto GTN relative to GT was due to the formation of aπ-hole in GTN,thereby promoting a higher interaction of the collector with the ***,the presence of Ni in the GT lattice improves and decreases the adsorption and desorption of SA onto and from the mineral,respectively,compared with those onto and from GT.

This work reports that the intensity ratio of spectral lines having similar self-absorption characteristics during laser induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) analysis can become nearly constant over a wide range of irradiation conditions if the intensities are integrated over a sufficiently long time. It is shown that the plasma temperature and intensity ratio of these spectral lines have temporal similarity. The spectral lines with similar self-absorption properties may be selected to improve the accuracy and consistency of LIBS analysis results under an environment with fluctuating measurement conditions.

BACKGROUND Although propofol generally reduces blood pressure,rarely,it causes ***,the mechanism by which propofol increases blood pressure has not been established,and so far,there are only a few reported *** SUMMARY A 46-year-old woman,diagnosed with thyroid cancer,was administered general anesthesia with propofol and remifentanil for a thyroid *** increase in the concentrations of intravenous anesthetics further increased her blood *** blood pressure remained stable when anesthesia was maintained with sevoflurane and remifentanil after the interruption of propofol *** We concluded that propofol administration was the cause of increased blood pressure.

Although the current standard treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) with portal vein tumor thrombosis(PVTT) is sorafenib, many previous studies have established the need for a reliable local modality for PVTT control, which is a major cause of liver function deterioration and metastasis. Additionally, there is growing evidence for the prognostic significance of PVTT classification according to the location of tumor thrombosis. Favorable outcomes can be obtained by applying local modalities, including surgery or transarterial chemoembolization, especially in second-order or distal branch PVTT. Rapid control of PVTT could maintain or improve liver function and reduce intrahepatic as well as distant metastasis. Radiotherapy(RT) is one of the main locoregional treatment modalities in oncologic fields, but has rarely been used in HCC because of concerns regarding hepatic toxicity. However, with the development of advanced techniques, RT has been increasingly applied in HCC management. Randomized studies have yet to definitively prove the benefit of RT, but several comparative studies have justified the application of RT in HCC. The value of RT is especially noticeable in HCC with PVTT; several prospective and retrospective studies have reported favorable outcomes, including a 40% to 60% objective response rate and median overall survival of 15 mo to 20 mo in responders. In this review, we evaluate the role of RT as an alternative local modality in HCC with PVTT.

BACKGROUND Arsenic trioxide(ATO)is recommended for patients who do not achieve molecular remission or who have molecular or morphologic ***,there are no guidelines for adjusting ATO dosage in patients with severe renal failure or on ***,we report the successful treatment of relapsed acute promyelocytic leukemia(APL)in a patient on hemodialysis with ATO single agent and review the cases in *** SUMMARY A 46-year-old woman who has been on hemodialysis to chronic glomerulonephritis for 15 years visited our hospital for *** had been seen for pancytopenia 3 years ago and had been diagnosed with *** also received chemotherapy for APL but unfortunately was lost to follow-up after her second consolidation *** was noted to have pancytopenia by her nephrologist during hemodialysis 1 mo *** marrow biopsy and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)tests revealed a diagnosis of relapsed *** for relapsed APL with ATO single agent was started and she achieved molecular remission after administering 24 doses of *** far,four consolidation therapies have been performed with the ATO single agent,and,to date,the molecular remission has been maintained as negative promyelocytic leukemia/retinoic acid receptor-αfusion gene as confirmed by RTPCR testing for two *** This is a rare case of relapsed APL successfully treated with the single agent ATO in a patient on hemodialysis.

Inorganic polymers are a novel class of materials formed by the polymerization of silicon, aluminium and oxygen species to form an amorphous three-dimensional framework structure. The basis of this process is the alkaline solutions to induce a certain amount of Si and AI atoms to dissolve from a feedstock such as aluminosilicate. A study of 27A1 MAS-NMR was carried out in an attempt to understand the reaction mechanism of the inorganic polymerization at ambient temperature. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and X-ray diflYactometry （XRD） were also employed to establish the composition and microstructure of the inorganic polymerization. Specimens were prepared with different A1/Si mole ratios from the starting materials. The higher the AI content, the more sufficient the AI atoms that can combine with SiO4, and the longer the reaction time, the more the bonded Si--O--A1--O polymer structure, and then the higher the A1 content, the fewer the octahedral A1 with a uniform Si--O--A1--O structure in four directions, because four AI atoms are combined with SiO4, resulting in a uniform Si--O--AI--O structure in four directions. The results show that they have an amorphous microstructure.

Single carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are candidates for a number of electronics and sensing applications, provided that single CNTs can be separated from a bundle of CNTs in suspension. Dielectrophoresis has recently been demonstrated as one route for the extraction of desired CNTs. However, previous methods using dielectrophoresis have found it difficult to extract single nanotubes from bundles of CNTs in solution. Here, we show that this restriction can be overcome by using pulsed DC voltage of an electric field, instead of regular AC and DC voltages.
