Background: IL-17 is an inflammatory cytokine that plays a crucial role in many autoimmune diseases. Aim: To investigate the association of IL-17A rs2275913 and IL-17F rs763780 gene polymorphisms with acute immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) in Egyptian children. Patients and methods: We examined 80 patients (male/female, 33/47;median age, 7 years old) diagnosed with acute ITP and 55 healthy controls (male/female, 28/27;median age, 7 years old). Genotyping was determined using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) technique. Results: In the acute ITP group compared to control, statistical analysis of the genotype frequencies (GG, AG, AA) of the IL-17A rs2275913 polymorphism and its alleles (A, G) showed no significant difference between the two groups (p > 0.05). Interestingly, the IL17A rs2275913 GG genotype was associated with early recovery (p = 0.04). As regard the genotype frequencies of the IL-17F rs763780 polymorphism, there was statistical significant difference in the TT and TC genotype frequencies between the case and control groups (p = 0.001 and p = 0.003, respectively). The number of IL-17F rs763780 T alleles was significantly higher in acute ITP patients as compared with children in the control group (p Conclusion: The present findings indicate that the IL-17 polymorphism IL-17F rs763780, but not IL-17A rs2275913 may be associated with a higher risk of acute ITP in Egyptian children.

Pepper species(Capsicum spp.)are widely used as food,spice,decoration,and *** the recent old-world culinary impact,more than 50 commercially recognized pod types have been recorded worldwide from three taxonomic complexes(A,B,and P).The current study aimed to apply a pan-plastome approach to resolve the plastomic boundaries among those complexes and identify effective loci for the taxonomical resolution and molecular identification of the studied species/***-resolution pan-plastomes of five species and two varieties were assembled and compared from 321 *** and network analyses clarified the taxonomic position of the studied species/varieties and revealed a pronounced number of accessions to be the rare and endemic species,***,that were mistakenly labeled as *** *** among ***,some NCBIdeposited plastomes were clustered differently from their *** rpl23-trnI intergenic spacer contained a 44 bp tandem repeat that,in addition to other InDels,was capable of discriminating the investigated Capsicum species/*** rps16-trnQ/rbcL-accD/ycf3-trnS gene set was determined to be sufficiently polymorphic to retrieve the complete phyloplastomic signal among the studied Capsicum *** pan-plastome approach was shown to be useful in resolving the taxonomical complexes,settling the incomplete lineage sorting conflict and developing a molecular marker set for Capsicum ***.

Objective: To determine and compare the effect of vitamin D3 supplementation on modifying the disease severity in cystic fibrosis (CF) and non-CF bronchiectasis pediatric patients. Methods: A randomized clinical trial evaluating the role of oral vitamin D3 supplementation for six months, was performed in forty patients with CF and non-CF bronchiectasis under the age of 18 years with vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency. The primary outcome was to reach the sufficient Vitamin D level, the secondary outcome was to reevaluate bronchiectasis severity by following up the frequency, severity of pulmonary exacerbations and lung function after vitamin D3 supplementation. Results: Forty patients completed the trial. The percentage of improvement of vitamin D level after vitamin D3 supplementation for six months was significantly higher in CF (88.3%) than non-CF bronchiectasis patients (59.82%) (P = 0.03). BACKGROUND Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging has shown promise in the detection and quantification of hepatic fibrosis. In addition, the liver has numerous endogenous micro-RNAs(miRs) that play important roles in the regulation of biological processes such as cell proliferation and hepatic *** To assess diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging and miRs in diagnosing and staging hepatic fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis *** This prospective study included 208 patients and 82 age-and sex-matched controls who underwent diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging of the abdomen, miR profiling, and liver biopsy. Pathological scoring was classified according to the METAVIR scoring system. The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and miR were calculated and correlated with pathological *** The ADC value decreased significantly with the progression of fibrosis, from controls(F0) to patients with early fibrosis(F1 and F2) to those with late fibrosis(F3 and F4)(median 1.92, 1.53, and 1.25 × 10^(-3) mm^2/s, respectively)(P = 0.001).The cut-off ADC value used to differentiate patients from controls was 1.83 × 10^(-3) mm^2/s with an area under the curve(AUC) of 0.992. Combining ADC and miR-200 b revealed the highest AUC(0.995) for differentiating patients from controls with an accuracy of 96.9%. The cut-off ADC used to differentiate early fibrosis from late fibrosis was 1.54 × 10^(-3) mm^2/s with an AUC of 0.866. The combination of ADC and miR-200 b revealed the best AUC(0.925) for differentiating early fibrosis from late fibrosis with an accuracy of 80.2%. The ADC correlated with miR-200 b(r =-0.61, P = 0.001), miR-21(r =-0.62, P = 0.001), and miR-29(r = 0.52,P = 0.001).CONCLUSION Combining ADC and miRs offers an alternative surrogate non-invasive diagnostic tool for diagnosing and staging hepatic fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C.
