Monolayer boron-based materials are of current interests due to its polymorphism.herein,motivated by the recent experimental synthesis of semiconducting hydrogenatedαʹ-borophene and the regulation of the physical properties in layered materials by surface functionalization,we study the thermal and electronic properties ofαʹ-borophene with three different types of gas functional groups(H,F,and Cl)based on first-principles and Boltzmann transport theory.It is found thatαʹ-borophene can be well stabilized by fluorination and chlorination and maintain the semiconductor nature.More interestingly,when hydrogen is replaced with fluorine or chlorine,the lattice thermal conductivity changes from 24.3 to 5.2 or 0.73 W/(m·K)along armchair direction at 300 K,exhibiting a huge reduction by two orders of magnitude.The main reason is the decrease of both phonon group velocities and acoustic phonon relaxation time resulting from the strong phonon mode softening due to the weaken B-B bond strength and heavier atomic mass of fluorine and chlorine.Consequently,the chlorinatedαʹ-borophene exhibits a high thermoelectric figure of merit~2 at 300 K along armchair direction.Our study illustrates the importance of the modulation of transport properties by gas functional groups,which may promote the thermoelectric application of boron-based materials.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease （NAFLD） is a major cause of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma and is a considerable threat to public health, miRNAs are important post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression, and the dysregulation of miRNAs is involved in various biological processes in the liver, including lipid homeostasis, inflammation, apoptosis, and cell proliferation. Recently, a number of studies have described the association between miRNAs and NAFLD progression and have shown that circulating miRNAs reflect histological changes in the liver. Therefore, circulating miRNAs have potential use for the evaluation of NAFLD severity. In this review, we discuss the involvement of miRNAs in NAFLD pathogenesis and the key role of miRNAs in the screening, diagnosis, and staging of NAFLD.

An asymmetric catalytic strategy in photocatalysis utilizing a chirality-induced approach through an organocatalytic/photoredox relay catalysis strategy is successfully achieved for the rapid construction of polycyclic compounds containing vicinal amino alcohols in a one-pot protocol. This methodology facilitates the efficient synthesis of diverse substituted polycyclic tetrahydroquinoline and benzofuran-derived vicinal amino alcohols, each containing five consecutive chiral centers, with high yields,excellent diastereoselectivities and enantioselectivities(up to 95% yield, >20:1 dr and 98% ee), under mild reaction conditions driven by sequential bifunctional squaramide organocatalyst-catalyzed [4+2] annulation and photocatalyst-catalyzed ketyl radical addition cyclization reaction process. Furthermore, investigations into the stereoselectivity mechanism and high-resolution mass spectrometry(HRMS) experiments on free radical trapping have provided evidence for elucidating the detailed mechanism of chirality-induced processes and chiral intermediate conversions in this procedure.

Considering the substantial role played by dendritic cells(DCs) in the immune system to bridge innate and adaptive immunity,studies on DC-mediated immunity toward biomaterials principally center on their adjuvant effects in facilitating the adaptive immunity of codelivered antigens. However, the effect of the intrinsic properties of biomaterials on dendritic cells has not been clarified. Recently, researchers have begun to investigate and found that biomaterials that are nonadjuvant could also regulate the immune function of DCs and thus affect subsequent tissue regeneration. In the case of proteins adsorbed onto biomaterial surfaces,their intrinsic properties can direct their orientation and conformation, forming “biomaterial-associated molecular patterns(BAMPs)”. Thus, in this review, we focused on the intrinsic physiochemical properties of biomaterials in the absence of antigens that affect DC immune function and summarized the underlying signaling pathways. Moreover, we preliminarily clarified the specific composition of BAMPs and the interplay between some key molecules and DCs, such as heat shock proteins(HSPs) and high mobility group box 1(HMGB1). This review provides a new direction for future biomaterial design, through which modulation of host immune responses is applicable to tissue engineering and immunotherapy.

Eliminating colloidal toxicity and enabling its intrinsic fluorescence in aggressive environmental conditions are the key challenges for commercializing hydrophobic cadmium based quantum dots(QD).Polyarylene ether nitriles(PEN)are an example of super-engineering thermoplastics that possess a unique combination of thermal stability,intrinsic fluorescence,biocompatibility and distinct emulsion self-assembly feature.herein,the co-self-assembly of amphiphilic PEN with hydrophobic CdSe@ZnS QD,confined in the three-dimensional(3D)oil-in-water emulsion droplets,has been explored tofabricate fluorescent microparticles(FMP).It was found that these FMP demonstrated good biocompatibility(cell viability above 90%),while exhibiting a fluorescence emission in aqueous solution that was retained(intensity retention ratio above 80%)within the whole pH range of 1-14,as well as,after being subjected to autoclaving at 120℃for 1 h.Interestingly,it was discovered that introduction of calcium ions in the emulsion self-assembly contributed to in-situ generation of phase changing nanoplates inside the FMP,which led to the photo-thermal modulated solid state fluorescence from drop-casted FMP film.Thanks to their versatile fluorescence,these FMP colloids were exploited as fluorescent probes for macrophages imaging,while micro-patterns with reversible changing of emission color were induced via thermal treatment and direct laser lithography.

Numerical and experimental study on the hydraulic characteristics of a vertical axial pump under various clearances of flare tube

In order to investigate the characteristics of a vertical axial flow pump under various clearances of flare tube, the bell-shaped inlet and box culvert outlet channels with flare tube are studied numerically and experimentally. Then, the cases of inlet and outlet channels with the least hydraulic loss are selected to form an integral pump system, for which both numerical simulation and experimental investigation are carried out. The numerical results agree well with the experimental data. It is shown that the clearances of the interfaces between different components of the pump system have a significant impact on the internal flow structure, turbulent entropy and hydraulic performance of the inlet and outlet channels. For the cases of normalized bottom clearance less than 0.5 and normalized top clearance larger than 0.4, the internal flow and hydraulic performance indexes of inlet and outlet channels are relatively poor. There also exists a critical clearance in either inlet or outlet channel at which the hydraulic loss reaches the maximum. The results serve as an important reference for the design as well as safe and efficient operation of the vertical axial flow pump system.

By analyzing the corrosion of phosphate completion fluid on the P110 steel at 170 °C, the high-temperature corrosion mechanism of phosphate completion fluid was revealed, and a corrosion inhibition method by membrane transformation was proposed and an efficient membrane-forming agent was selected. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images, X-ray energy spectrum and X-ray diffraction results were used to characterize the microscopic morphology, elemental composition and phase composition of the precipitation membrane on the surface of the test piece. The effect and mechanism of corrosion inhibition by membrane transformation were clarified. The phosphate completion fluid eroded the test piece by high-temperature water vapor and its hydrolyzed products to form a membrane of iron phosphate corrosion product. By changing the corrosion reaction path, the Zn2+ membrane-forming agent could generate KZnPO4 precipitation membrane with high temperature resistance, uniform thickness and tight crystal packing on the surface of the test piece, which could inhibit the corrosion of the test piece, with efficiency up to 69.63%. The Cu2+ membrane-forming agent electrochemically reacted with Fe to precipitate trace elemental Cu on the surface of the test piece, thus forming a protective membrane, which could inhibit metal corrosion, with efficiency up to 96.64%, but the wear resistance was poor. After combining 0.05% Cu2+ and 0.25% Zn2+, a composite protective membrane of KZnPO4 crystal and elemental Cu was formed on the surface of the test piece. The corrosion inhibition efficiency reached 93.03%, which ensured the high corrosion inhibition efficiency and generated a precipitation membrane resistant to temperature and wear.

In order to clarify the edge and interface effect on the adhesion energy between graphene(Gr)and its substrate,a theoretical model is proposed to study the interaction and strain distribution of Gr/Si system in terms of continuum medium mechanics and nanothermodynamics.We find that the interface separation and adhesion energy are determined by the thickness of Gr and substrate.The disturbed interaction and redistributed strain in the Gr/Si system induced by the effect of surface and interface can make the interface adhesion energy decrease with increasing thickness of Gr and diminishing thickness of Si.Moreover,our results show that the smaller area of Gr is more likely to adhere to the substrate since the edge effect improves the active energy and strain energy.Our predictions can be expected to be a guide for designing high performance of Grbased electronic devices.

Despite the advancement of treatments,adults with relapsed/refractory(R/R)B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia(B-ALL)have poor prognosis,with an expected five-year overall survival(OS)rate of 10%‒20%(Nguyen et al.,2008;Oriol et al.,2010).Extramedullary relapse of B-ALL is regarded as a highrisk factor generally associated with poor survival,occurring in about 15%to 20%of all relapsed patients(Ding et al.,2017;Sun et al.,2018).The central nervous system(CNS)and the testes are the most common sites of extramedullary relapse of B-ALL.In addition,extramedullary leukemia can appear in the skin,eyes,breasts,bones,muscles,and abdominal organs.The prognosis of relapsed extramedullary B-ALL after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(allo-HSCT)is extremely poor(Spyridonidis et al.,2012;Dahlberg et al.,2019).Conventional chemotherapy or radiation is often ineffective in such patients.At present,there are no optimal treatment strategies for treating extramedullary leukemia after allo-HSCT.
