Energy and carbon performance of urban buildings using metamodeling variable importance techniques

Global urbanization causes more environmental stresses in cities and energy efficiency is one of major concerns for urban *** variable importance techniques have been widely used in building energy analysis to determine key factors influencing building energy *** of these applications,however,use only one type of variable importance ***,this paper proposes a procedure of conducting two types of variable importance analysis(predictive and variance-based)to determine robust and effective energy saving measures in urban *** two variable importance methods belong to metamodeling techniques,which can significantly reduce computational cost of building energy simulation models for urban *** predictive importance analysis is based on the prediction errors of metamodels to obtain importance rankings of inputs,while the variance-based variable importance can explore non-linear effects and interactions among input variables based on variance *** campus buildings are used to demonstrate the application of the method proposed to explore characteristic of heating energy,cooling energy,electricity,and carbon emissions of *** results indicate that the combination of two types of metamodeling variable importance analysis can provide fast and robust analysis to improve energy efficiency of urban *** carbon emissions can be reduced approximately 30%after using a few of effective energy efficiency measures and more aggressive measures can lead to the 60%of reduction of carbon ***,this research demonstrates the application of parallel computing to expedite building energy analysis in urban environment since more multi-core computers become increasingly available.

Variation of some thermodynamic functions of an amorphous alloy Pd_(77.5)Ni_(6.0)Si_(16.5) in glass transition temperature region during various scans was measured by a differential scanning *** Gibbs free energy of glassy state was examined to be larger than that of the undercooled liquid state when the specimen was heated up to the glass transition temperature region,which supports the idea of what there are thermodynamic origins underlying glass transition *** the other hand,it was found that glass transition behaved differently during heating and cooling ***,with increase of heating rate,the glass transition process was delayed gradually to higher *** can be concluded that glass transition is a kinetically modified thermodynamic phase transformation.

Research on antistatic superhydrophobic surfaces has attracted widespread attention in some ***,in the application of superhydrophobic materials,fabricating stable and practical superhydrophobic surfaces through facile and low-cost approaches still faces considerable ***,a polyphenylene sulfide(PPS)-based antistatic superhydrophobic composite coating with a high water contact angle(166°)and a low sliding angle(2°)was fabricated on a Q345 steel surface through a simple spray-coating method without any ***,the as-prepared superhydrophobic coating also displayed excellent superhydrophobicity for water droplets at different pH values,as well as self-cleaning,anti-fouling and anti-icing ***,the superhydrophobic coating still exhibited superhydrophobicity after calcination at 350°C for 1 h,indicating its outstanding thermal *** antistatic and anticorrosion properties were obtained on the prepared coating surface,which allows the coating to be applied under harsh *** from the above characteristics,compared with the commercial coating,the as-obtained antistatic superhydrophobic coating may be applied more widely in related fields.

We investigate the three-wave resonant interaction (TWRI) of Bogoliubov excitations in a disk-shaped Bose-Einstein condensate with the diffraction of the excitations taken into account. We show that the phase-matching condition for the TWRI can be satisfied by a suitable selection of the wavevectors and the frequencies of the three exciting modes involved in the TWRI. Using a method of multiple-scales we derive a set of nonlinearly coupled envelope equations describing the TWRI process and give some explicit solitary-wave solutions.

Effect of Reduction in Iodine Content of Edible Salt on the Iodine Status of the Chinese Population

Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the revised Chinese National Standard GB26878-2011 ＇Iodine Content in Edible Salt＇ on the iodine status among the Chinese population. Methods In 2011 and 2014, the probability proportionate to size sampling（PPS） was used in each Chinese province to obtain the representative data. In each sampling unit, school children aged 8-10 years and pregnant women were selected. Key indicators included urinary iodine concentration（UIC）, thyroid volume（TV）, and the iodine content in edible household salt. Results The median urinary iodine concentration（MUIC） decreased between 2011 and 2014 from 238.6 to 197.9 μg/L in school-age children. The number of provinces with iodine excess decreased to zero. The proportion of children whose UIC was 〉 300 μg/L was 18.8% and decreased to 11% compared with 29.8% in 2011. There was no significant difference in UIC 〈 50 μg/L between 2014（4.3%） and 2011（3.7%）（P 〉 0.05）. The MUIC among pregnant women in 2014 was more concentrated between 110 and 230 μg/L. The goiter rate among children aged 8-10 years was unchanged, both the goiter rate of 2011 and 2014 remaining below 5%, in view of the sustainable elimination of iodine deficiency disorders. Conclusion The National Standard GB26878-2011 ＇Iodine Content in Edible Salt＇ that was introduced in March 2012 resulted in an overall improvement in iodine status, reducing the risk of excessive iodine intake in the Chinese population.

BACKGROUND Primary intramedullary melanocytoma is an exceedingly rare type of primary melanocytic tumor in the central nervous ***,primary intramedullary melanocytoma lacks specificity in clinical symptoms and imaging features and there is currently no standard strategy for diagnosis or *** SUMMARY A 52-year-old male patient suffered from weakness and numbness involving the bilateral lower limbs for 18 mo,and defecation and erectile dysfunction for 6 ***,these symptoms started to worsen for the last 3 *** magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)revealed an intramedullary tumor located at the T9-T10 *** subsequently surgery,the maximal safe resection extent approached to 98%.The lesion was confirmed to be melanocytoma by pathological *** addition,the possibility of original melanocytoma outside the spinal cord was excluded after the examination of the whole ***,a diagnosis of primary intramedullary melanocytoma was *** patient refused to accept radiotherapy or Gamma Knife,but MRI examination on July 28,2020 showed no sign of *** addition,on April 10,2021,the recent review showed that the disorder of defecation and lower limbs improved further but erectile dysfunction benefited a little from the *** After diagnosing intramedullary melanocytoma by postoperative pathology,the inspection of the whole body contributed to excluding the possibility of metastasis from other regions and further suggested a diagnosis of primary intramedullary *** resection,adjuvant radiation,and regular review are *** addition,maximal safe resection also benefits prognosis while the tumor is difficult to be resected totally.

A Numerical Modelling Method of Fractured Reservoirs with Embedded Meshes and Topological Fracture Projection Configurations

Projection-based embedded discrete fracture model(pEDFM)is an effective numerical model to handle the flow in fractured reservoirs,with high efficiency and strong generalization of flow ***,this paper points out that pEDFM fails to handle flow barriers in most cases,and identifies the physical projection configuration of fractures is a key step in *** paper presents and proves the equivalence theorem,which explains the geometric nature of physical projection configurations of fractures,that is,the projection configuration of a fracture being physical is equivalent to it being topologically homeomorphic to the fracture,by analyzing the essence of *** projection configurations of fractures may be rigorously established based on this theorem,allowing pEDFM to obtain physical numerical results for many flow models,particularly those with flow ***,a natural idea emerges of employing flow barriers to flexibly‘cut’the formation to quickly handle the flow problems in the formation with complex geological conditions,and several numerical examples are implemented to test this idea and application of the improved pEDFM.

Point-of-care testing for lysine concentration in swine serum via blue-emissive carbon dot-entrapped microfluidic chip

Lysine is one of the essential amino acids and plays a vital role in the growth,development and health of *** lysine concentration is a direct indication of lysine status;however,current methods can not satisfy the demands for rapid and on-site lysine concentration measurement of swine ***,we developed blue-emissive nitrogen-doped carbon dots as a fluorescence probe for the determination of lysine with high fluorescence quantum yield,stability,sensitivity and *** carbon dots were entrapped within hydrogel microstructures to fabricate microfluidic chips for rapid assay for lysine *** further developed an imaging attachment to integrate the microfluidic chip and a smartphone into a portable point-of-care testing *** platform requires only 3μL sample and has a linear detection range of 25 to 300μmol/L with a limit of detection less than 16μmol/L,which covers the normal range of lysine concentration in swine *** tested lysine concentration in swine serum using this platform with high accuracy,low sample consumption,and within 3 ***,these results may provide a rapid and portable platform for dynamic monitoring of swine lysine status and contribute to precise feed formula modulation with low-protein diet strategy.
