myzus persicae(***)is now considered a threat to agricultural crops due to economic *** synthetic insecticides applied every year against ***,are reported to be unsafe for environment,humans,and beneficial ***,several species of myzus have been found to develop resistance due to over application of these ***,it is required to find some novel insecticide that would be safe for the environment as well as for *** the current study,two major pure constituentsα-pinene andβ-caryophyllene were evaluated for their insecticidal potential against *** using a fumigant toxicity ***,impact ofα-pinene andβ-caryophyllene on expression of five different genes,e.g.,HSP 60,FPPS I,OSD,TOL and ANT responsible for reproduction,dispersion,and growth of *** has also been *** perform fumigant toxicity assay,five different concentrations(3.5,4,4.5,5 and 6μL L−1)ofα-pinene andβ-caryophyllene were *** concentration(LC)was calculated,and gene expression studies were executed through qRT PCR at LC30 ofα-pinene andβ-*** constituents demonstrated excellent fumigant toxicity effects against *** at all five ***,α-pinene shows significantly better results(98%)as compared toβ-caryophyllene(80%)after 72 h at 6μL L−1 of *** highest upregulation in expression was demonstrated at LC30 dose ofα-pinene in five in three out of five genes understudy(TOL,ANT,and FPPS I).Conversely,two genes HSP 60 and OSD demonstrated downregulation at LC30 dose ofβ-***,our results highlighted the promising insecticidal potential of both compoundsα-pinene andβ-caryophylleneby interfering with the reproduction and development related processes in ***,allowing us to recommend the phytoconstituents under investigation as an ecofriendly alternative to synthetic insecticides.

Callistemon viminalis(***)is a plant that has been reported to have a various medicinal values such as antibacterial,antifungal,antioxidant activities and other pharmaceutical and insecticidal *** review covers the potentials,applications and properties of different extracts from different parts(branches,flowers,fruits,bark,leaves)of ***,the chemical structures of the bioactive compounds were reported for biological *** the results supported the traditional uses of *** in folk *** addition,some researches supported the use of *** extracts for the preparation of metal oxide nanoparticles.

Evaluation of extracts and essential oil from Callistemon viminalis leaves:Antibacterial and antioxidant activities,total phenolic and flavonoid contents

Objective:To investigate antioxidant and antibacterial activities of Callistemon viminalis(***)***:The essential oil of *** leaves obtained by hydrodistillation was analyzed by GC/*** extracts were tested for total phenolic and flavonoid contents and in vitro antioxidant(DPPH assay)and antibacterial(agar disc diffusion and 96-well micro-plates methods)***:Fourteen components were identified in the essential oil,representing 98.94%of the total *** major components were 1,8-cineole(64.53%)andα-pinene(9.69%).Leaf essential oil exhibited the highest antioxidant activity of(88.60±1.51)%comparable to gallic acid,a standard compound[(80.00±2.12)%].Additionally,the biggest zone of inhibitions against the studied bacterial strains was observed by the essential oil when compared to the standard antibiotic(tetracycline).The crude methanol extract and ethyl acetate fraction had a significant antibacterial activity against the tested bacterial ***:It can be suggested that *** is a great potential source of antibacterial and antioxidant compounds useful for new antimicrobial drugs from the natural *** present study revealed that the essential oil as well as the methanol extracts and ethyl acetate fraction of *** leaves exhibited highly significant antibacterial activity against the tested bacterial strains.
