The increasing use of fossil fuels has a significant impact on the environment and ecosystem,which increases the rate of *** the high potential of renewable energy sources inYemen and the absence of similar studies in the region,this study aims to examine the potential of wind energy in Socotra *** was done by analyzing and evaluating wind properties,determining available energy density,calculating wind energy extracted at different altitudes,and then computing the capacity factor for a number of wind turbines and determining the *** average wind speed in Socotra Island was obtained from the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority data,only for the five-year data currently *** results showed high wind speeds from June to September(9.85-14.88 m/s)while the wind speed decreased for the rest of the *** average wind speed in the five years was 7.95 m/*** average annual wind speed,wind energy density,and annual energy density were calculated at different altitudes(10,30,and 50 m).According to the International Wind Energy Rating criteria,the region of Socotra Island falls under Category 7 and is classified as‘Superb’for most of the *** study provides useful information for developing wind energy and an efficient wind approach.

Effect of age and gender on some blood biochemical parameters of apparently healthy small ruminants from Southern Punjab in Pakistan

Objective:To report and compare the hematological and serum biochemical profile of goal and sheep from Rahim Yar khan district in Southern ***:One hundred and twenty blood samples(98 goat and 22 sheep) were collected and their blood glucose, hemoglobin and serum biochemical parameters,cholesterol,aspartate transaminase(AST), alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) were determined by using *** were compared between goat and ***:It was observed that glucose(P=0.001),LDH(P=0.001) and ALT(P=0.001) concentrations differed significantly between sheep and *** studied parameters were compared between buck and goats and also between young goats(less than 12 months old) and adults(more than 12 months old).It was found that age and gender did not affect these hematological and serum biochemical parameters. Condusions:It can be concluded that sheep have overall higher values than goals for studied hematological and serum biochemical parameters.

Dehydrating stresses trigger the accumulation of abscisic acid(ABA),a key plant stress-signaling hormone that activates Snf1-Related Kinases(SnRK2s)to mount adaptive ***,the regulatory circuits that terminate the SnRK2s signal relay after acclimation or post-stress conditions remain to be ***,we show that the desensitization of the ABA signal is achieved by the regulation of OST1(SnRK2.6)protein stability via the E3-ubiquitin ligase *** ABA signal,HOS15-induced degradation of OST1 is inhibited and stabilized OST1 promotes the stress *** the ABA signal terminates,protein phosphatases ABI1/2 promote rapid degradation of OST1 via ***,we found that even in the presence of ABA,OST1 levels are also depleted within hours of ABA signal *** unexpected dynamics of OST1 abundance are then resolved by systematic mathematical modeling,demonstrating a desensitizing feedback loop by which OST1-induced upregulation of ABI1/2 leads to the degradation of *** model illustrates the complex rheostat dynamics underlying the ABA-induced stress response and desensitization.

Pronounced effect of ZnTe nanoinclusions on thermoelectric properties of Cu_(2-x) Se chalcogenides

Metal chalcogenides especially Cu2-x Se has gained much attention in thermoelectric community due to its complex crystal structure and superionic behavior. Here, we report a facile method to improve the thermoelectric efficiency by introducing Zn Te nanoinclusions into the matrix of Cu2-x Se. As a result, a substantial improvement of 32% in electrical conductivity of Cu2-x Se-Zn Te composite is observed. The increase in electrical conductivity is at the expense of Seebeck coefficient, which slightly decreases the power factor of the composite samples than that of pure Cu2-x Se. Furthermore, the introduction of secondary phase facilitates in declining the total thermal conductivity of Cu2-x Se-Zn Te composite up to 34% by suppressing the lattice thermal contributions. Thus, the moderate power factor and lower thermal conductivity values result in an improved figure of merit(z T) value of ~0.40 in mid-range temperature(750 K) for Cu2-x Se-Zn Te composite with 10 wt.% of Zn Te, which is about 40% higher than that of its pure counterpart. Hence, it is believed that the incorporation of Zn Te nanoinclusions in the matrix of Cu2-x Se may be an important route to improve the thermoelectric properties of Cu2-x Se based compounds.

Healthcare seeking trends in acute respiratory infections among children of Pakistan

AIM To assess healthcare seeking trends among Pakistani children with acute respiratory infections through comparative analysis between demographic health surveys(DHS) 2006-2007 and 2012-2013. METHODS Data of the last born children 0-24 mo of age of the sampled households from both the DHS was analyzedafter seeking permission from the DHS open access website. These were children who had suffered from cough and/or breathing difficulty in the past two weeks and sought health care thereafter. The trends of health care seeking were determined separately for the individual, household and community level according to the study parameters. χ2 test was applied to compare these trends. A P-value of < 0.05 was considered significant. RESULTS Out of 2508 children in 2006-2007 there were 1590 with acute respiratory infections(ARI) according to case definition along with 2142 out of 3419 children in 2012-2013 DHS, whose data was analyzed. During 2006-2007, 69% cases sought healthcare for ARI which improved to 79% in 2012-2013. Additionally, it was revealed that when compared between 2006-2007 and 2012-2013, improvement in care seeking practices was observed among illiterate mothers(64% vs 77%) although there was minimal change in those literate. Similarly, those women working also showed an increase in healthcare seeking from 67% to 79%. Additionally, those belonging to low and middle socioeconomic class showed a marked increase as compared to those in the higher class where there was no significant change. Whereas those living in rural communities also showed an increase from 66% to 78%.CONCLUSION Increasing health budget, improving maternal education and strengthening multi-sectoral coordination are among the effective strategies to improve outcomes associated with healthcare seeking in ARI.

边坡稳定性分析是一种通过分析法或经验法来评价天然或开挖的土岩边坡在动态或静态条件下稳定性的方法。边坡稳定性指的是岩土体在斜坡上抵抗滑动的条件,作为土力学、岩土工程和工程地质学研究的课题,其目的是分析滑坡产生原因及可能存在的滑坡、诱发条件。中国幅员辽阔,拥有960万平方公里的国土面积,但多为山区丘陵地质条件,平原较少。在气候条件、地壳运动和人类活动的影响,泥石流、崩塌、滑坡风化剥落等各种边坡地质灾害层出不穷,给人民群众生命财产安全和正常生活工作需要造成严重危害。近年来,中国特大边坡地质灾害频繁发生,对严重威胁到国民的人身财产安全,近年来,随着中国经济的不断增长,大量的基础设施和能源工程投入建设,这个过程中遇到的边坡灾害问题亟需解决。中国中西部地区大兴告诉公路建设,且高速公路在设计和施工中强调公路线形,与普通道路采用的避山建设的方法存在一定的差异;在市政管理方面,随着房地产业的繁荣,城市土地逐渐成为稀缺资源,住房依山而建时也要考虑边坡灾害防治;其他方面,如新建的山区铁路、水电站、矿山等,由于项目本身建设难度较大的特点,也面临着高陡边坡地质灾害治理的问题。公路边坡的失稳不仅影响交通安全,而且通常还会掩埋公路、中断交通,迫使公路废弃,造成不可估量的经济损失。近年来中国各地因公路边坡稳定引发的惨剧警示我们,公路边坡的安全不容忽视。因此对公路边坡的稳定性和防护方法进行探讨和研究显得尤为必要。中国城市和经济的发展与道路系统的改善息息相关。自2008年以来,中国公共道路网建设范围呈上升趋势,截至2019年中国共有501万公里公路投入使用。中国公路网由各类公路组成,即国道、省道、县道和乡道。截至2018年,中国国道总长36.3万公里,乡道总长110多万公里,其公路密度可达到每100平方公里区域里有50公里以上公路线路分布。随着公路里程的增加,公路边坡的安全问题引人担忧,灾害造成的人员伤亡和财产损失在逐年增加。例如,2012年2月7日,甘肃省永靖县盐果峡镇临山公路发生滑坡,山体滑坡发生后,两辆在高速公路上行驶的汽车坠入黄河,车上的伤亡情况不详。2011年9月23日,湖北恩施利川在建矿区一条公路突然发生滑坡,参与施工的6名工人中,有5人不幸被埋,1人在避难时受伤。2010年8月23日,由于连续暴雨,重庆市城口县太和二路突然坍塌,两名路过的学生遇难。2009年9月15日,兰州市城关区沿石高速公路小大子坪路口发生滑坡,滑坡造成约5000立方米土石方,路面土层厚约3米,40多米的路面被掩埋,造成3人死亡。2007年11月20日,湖北省巴东县高羊寨318国道K1405段边坡发生特大塌方灾害,一辆经过的公交车被坍塌的坡体掩埋,车上31人全部遇难。2007年11月25日,重庆至涪陵高速公路K42+400段发生特大落石事故,落石量近4000立方米,交通中断10小时。2003年10月12日,甘肃省红谷区民门路上一块体积约4.5万立方米的危岩体开裂,从山顶坠落,掩埋了数十辆车辆。2003年5月11日,贵州省三穗县三穗至凯里高速公路施工过程中,山体发生坍塌,塌方总体积约20万立方米,无人生还。2001年5月1日,重庆市武隆县坡北公路高切坡坍塌,一栋9层居民楼被破坏掩埋,造成了79人死亡,4人受伤,震惊中外。如上所述,随着国民经济与公路交通建设的快速发展,公路沿线边坡工程的安全稳定与人民生命财产安全息息相关。公路边坡的防护与治理已成为一个前所未有的重要而紧迫的研究课题。通过对近年来公路边坡失稳的案例进行分析,发现边坡失稳的形式多种多样,边坡失稳的原因也较为复杂。既有自然环境突变因素,也有人类工程活动影响因素。下文对导致公路边坡破坏的主要因素进行了总结。1、水文地质条件通常由地下水的赋存、补给、径流和排泄条件组成。气候条件和水文地质条件决定了地下水的富集程度。地下水富集程度的增加,一方面导致边坡下滑力增大,另一方面降低了结构面和软弱夹层的抗剪强度,增加了孔隙水压力,大大降低了边坡滑动面上的有效法向应力,降低了滑动面的抗滑力。由此可知,地下水富集程度的变化是边坡稳定性变化的重要影响因素。中国与国际上大量文献对边坡水文条件恶化引起的边坡失稳进行了描述,许多边坡加固工程由于改善了其水文地质条件,往往取得了明显的效果。2、21世纪以来,全球极端气候频发,由此引发的公路边坡失稳灾害频繁发生。其中,降雨对边坡失稳的影响最为严重。中国幅员辽阔,各地气候不同,降雨量也各不相同,即使在其他条件相同的情况下,边坡的稳定性也因地区降雨量的不同而不同。特别是暴雨、长期降雨和融雪后,边坡容易发生滑动、坍塌等失稳灾害。近年来,由于降雨引起的大量滑坡、泥石流等边坡灾害对边坡稳定性影响很大。降雨和融雪极大地增加了地下水补给,一方面增加了孔隙水压力,降低了岩土体强度;另一方面减少了土颗粒之间的摩擦,增加了

Structural and spectroscopic analysis of wurtzite（ZnO）1-x（Sb2O3）x composite semiconductor

The structural, vibrational and impedance analysis for(Zn O)1 x(Sb2O3)xcomposite synthesized by solid state reaction technique were carried out in the present investigation. X-ray diffraction(XRD) study showed that(Zn O)1 x(Sb2O3)xcomposite has hexagonal(wurtzite) crystal structure. Variation in lattice constants with Sb-doping indicated the proper incorporation of Sb dopant in Zn O host matrix. The results of Raman spectroscopy test suggested the signature of E2(high) and E1(TO) Raman modes, and verified the wurtzite structure of(Zn O)1 x(Sb2O3)x composite. Two additional phonon bands(671, 712) cm 1appeared in Raman spectra of composite samples due to the existence of the lattice defects caused by Sb doping or may be other intrinsic lattice defects formed during the synthesis of(Zn O)1 x(Sb2O3)xcomposite. The frequency dependent on the electrical characteristics, such as, impedance(Z), dielectric constant(ε) and AC conductivity(σ) have been studied in a range of frequencies for different Sb concentration at room temperature. The electrical measurement results showed that the impedance increased with Sb dopant concentration, while dielectric constant and AC conductivity decreased with Sb dopant concentration.

Analysis of an SME using Silicon and Flexible Organic Solar Cells as Replacements for Fossil Fuel Sources of Electricity in UK and Iraq

Currently, 86% of the energy originates from fossil fuelsforelectricity. These are expected to run out, causing severe environmental damage threatening future generations. The total impact of Small and Medium Enterprises （SMEs） on the economy is significant. Solar cells harness the sun＇s energy to generate electricity in an environmentally friendly manner. This study compares silicon solar cells to flexible Organic Photovoltaic solar cells （OPV） for electricity energy for a micro-business in the UK and Iraq. It shows that it is feasible to replace existing fossil fuel sources with solar cells in Iraq due to a greater amount of solar radiation striking the earth＇s surface. Flexible solar cells can replace a proportion of the energy requirements in the UK and a larger proportion in Iraq. Using existing 20% efficient solar cells, 28% and 83% of the energy requirements of the microbusiness can be replaced in UK and Iraq respectively. Assuming 20% efficiency for solar cells placed on windows, 74% and 220% of the energy requirements of UK and Kurdistan can be replaced respectively and the surplus stored.
