The conservative Additive Increase Multiplicative Decrease mechanism of traditional TCP causes the link under-utilization in the Wide Area Networks(WANs) due to the WANs' intrinsic nature of high latency and high packet *** alleviate the problem,we present the design and implantation of STAG,an Acceleration Gateway with Split-TCP in the *** is built on embedded network equipment and acts as a transparent *** STAG,a new improved congestion control method named Rapid TCP is adopted,which determines whether or not to decrease the congestion window based on the packet loss *** particular,in the fast recovery phase,it chooses different window adjustment strategies based on the current size of congestion window to achieve higher *** performance validation of STAG is done on both our emulation testbed and the real wide area *** results show that STAG with Rapid TCP effectively adapts to the high loss network environment and significantly speeds up the applications without loss of fairness.

Chilled chicken is inevitably contaminated by microorganisms during slaughtering and processing,resulting in *** parts of chilled chicken,especially wings,feet,and other skin-on products,are abundant in collagen,which may be the primary target for degradation by spoilage *** this work,a total of 17 isolates of spoilage bacteria that could secrete both collagenase and lipase were determined by raw-chicken juice agar(RJA)method,and the results showed that 7 strains of Serratia,Aeromonas,and Pseudomonas could significantly decompose the collagen *** gelatin zymography showed that Serratia liquefaciens(F5)and(G7)had apparent degradation bands around 50 kDa,and Aeromonas veronii(G8)and Aeromonas salmonicida(H8)had a band around.65 and 95 kDa,*** lipase and collagenase activities were detected isolate-by-isolate,with F5 showing the highest collagenase *** spoilage ability on meat in situ,F5 performed strongest in spoilage ability,indicated by the total viable counts,total volatile basic nitrogen content,sensory scores,lipase,and collagenase *** study provides a theoretical basis for spoilage heterogeneity of strains with high-producing collagenase in meat.

The detrimental“shuttle effect”of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)together with sluggish multi-order reaction kinetics are the main drawbacks hindering lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries from commercial ***,we first propose the implementability of layered rare-earth hydroxides(LREHs)in Li-S batteries to optimize electrochemical *** this work,a two-dimensional(2D)rare-earth-based composite constructed by the layered gadolinium hydroxy chloride[Gd_(2)(OH)_(5)(H_(2)O)_(n)]Cl nanoplates(LGdH NPs)and graphene oxide(GO)was designed as a sulfur immobilizer for Li-S *** the experimental results and density functional theory(DFT)calculations,it is revealed that the LGdH@GO composite not only provides a strong anchoring of the intermediates during cycling,but also acts as an effective catalyst to accelerate the liquid-solid conversion of *** Li-S batteries assembled by LGdH@GO modified separators delivered a superior rate performance with a specific capacity of 605.34 mAh/g at 5 C,as well as excellent cycle stability with a decay rate of 0.087%over 500 cycles at 2 *** study provided a deep understanding of the mechanism to suppress the“shuttle effect”by the LREHs,and a guide to design effective functional interlayers for high-performance Li-S batteries with excellent electrocatalytic activity.

In situ chemical oxidation polymerization of pyrrole on the surface of sulfur particles was carried out to synthesize a sulfur/polypyrrole （SIPPy） nanocomposite with core-shell structure. The composite was characterized by elemental analysis, X-ray diffraction, scanning/transmission electron microscopy, and electrochemical measurements. XRD and FTIR results showed that sulfur well dispersed in the core-shell structure and PPy structure was successfully obtained via in situ oxidative polymerization of pyrrole on the surface of sulfur particles. TEM observation revealed that PPy was formed and fixed to the surface of sulfur nanoparticle after polymerization, developing a well-defined core-shell structure and the thickness of PPy coating layer was in the range of 20-30 nm. In the composite, PPy worked as a conducting matrix as well as a coating agent, which confined the active materials within the electrode. Consequently, the as prepared SIPPy composite cathode exhibited good cycling and rate performances for rechargeable lithium/sulfur batteries. The resulting cell containing SIPPy composite cathode yields a discharge capacity of 1039 mAh·g^-1 at the initial cycle and retains 59% of this value over 50 cycles at 0.1 C rate. At 1 C rate, the SIPPy composite showed good cycle stability, and the discharge capacity was 475 mAh·g^-1 after 50 cycles.

Multipath TCP(MPTCP)is the most significant extension of TCP that enables transmission via multiple paths concurrently to improve the resource usage and throughput of long ***,due to the concurrent multiple transfer(CMT)in short flow trans-mission,the congestion window(cwnd)of each MPTCP subflow is too small and it may lead to timeout when a single lost packet cannot be recovered through fast *** a result,MPTCP has even worse performance for short flows compared to regular *** this paper,we take the first step to analyze the main reason why MPTCP has the diminished performance for short flows,and then we propose M PTCP-SF,which dynamically adjusts the number of subflows for each *** particular,MP TCP-SF firstly analyzes the distribution characteristics of the web objects to extract two thresholds to be used for classifying each *** eceiving each new ACK,M PTCP-SF periodically counts the data being sent based on per-flow and uses the threshold to classify the we ***,MPTCP-SF dynamically switches path scheduling model for different classification *** conduct extensive experiments in NS3 to evaluate its *** evaluation proves that MPTCP-SF decreases the completion time of short flows by over 42.64% com-pared to MPTCP,and the throughput achieved by MPTCP-SF in transmitting long flows is about 11.11%higher than that of MPTCP in a WLAN/LTE wireless *** results successfully validate the improved performance of MPTCP-SF.

Melatonin Promotes Rice Seed Germination under Drought Stress by Regulating Antioxidant Capacity

Drought stress is a serious threat to the germination of plant seeds and the growth of *** has been proven to play an important role in alleviating plant ***,its effect on seed germination under drought conditions is still poorly ***,we studied the effects of melatonin on rice seed germination and physiological characteristics under drought *** seeds were treated with different concentrations of melatonin(i.e.,0,20,100,and 500μM)and drought stress was simulated with 5%polyethylene glycol 6000(PEG6000).The results showed that 100μM melatonin can effectively improve the germination potential,rate and index;the vigor index of rice seeds;and the length of the shoot and *** addition,that treatment also increased the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD)and catalase(CAT),and reduced the content of malondialdehyde(MDA).The grey relational grade between the shoot MDA content and the melatonin seed-soaking treatment was the highest,which could be useful for evaluating the effect of melatonin on drought ***-way analysis of variance showed that the effect of single melatonin treatment on rice seeds was more significant than that of single drought stress and interaction treatment of drought and melatonin(p<0.05).The subordinate function results showed that 100μM melatonin significantly improved the germination and physiological indexes of rice seeds and effectively alleviated the adverse effects of drought stress on rice *** results helped to improve the understanding of the morphological and physiological involvement of melatonin in promoting seed germination and seedling development under drought stress.
