Fast thermal responsive separators toward long-life and safe lithium metal batteries

Lithium metal batteries(LMBs)have been extensively investigated during the past decades because of their ultrahigh energy *** the increasing demand for energy density,however,the safety issue of LMBs has become a significant *** particular,localized areas of increased temperature(namely,hotspots)may be induced and even exacerbated within LMBs by uneven current distribution,internal short circuits,or inadequate heat dissipation,which significantly sacrifices battery safety and cycle ***,we report the rational design and fabrication of a fast thermal responsive separator capable of inhibiting the growth of lithium dendrites and mitigating thermal propagation,thereby reducing the risk of thermal *** as-achieved separator comprises both an electrospun membrane using a phase change material with superior thermal-storage ability and a thermally conductive modification layer of hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets with a fast heat-transfer *** is demonstrated that such a unique integration of heat conduction and heat storage enables the functional separator with attractive abilities to mitigate hotspots and inhibit the growth of lithium dendrites upon the cycling of ***,pouch cells with the thermal-responsive separator,as well as numerical simulations,verify much enhanced safety and cycle life of *** work may offer a new conceptual design of intelligent separators that acts as a functional unit encapsulated within a single cell to boost in-situ thermal management,which will help to develop high-safety and energy-dense LMBs.

Lithium-ion battery(LIB) industry seems to have met its bottle neck in cutting down producing costs even though much efforts have been put into building a complete industrial chain. Actually, manufacturing methods can greatly affect the cost of battery production. Up to now, lithium ion battery producers still adopt manufacturing methods with cumbersome sub-components preparing processes and costly assembling procedures, which will undoubtedly elevate the producing cost. Herein, we propose a novel approach to directly assemble battery components(cathode, anode and separator) in an integrated way using electro-spraying and electro-spinning technologies. More importantly, this novel battery manufacturing method can produce LIBs in large scale, and the products show excellent mechanical strength, flexibility, thermal stability and electrolyte wettability. Additionally, the performance of the as-prepaed Li Fe PO_(4)||graphite full cell produced by this new method is comparable or even better than that produced by conventional manufacturing approach. In brief, this work provides a new promising technology to prepare LIBs with low cost and better performance.

Synergistic precipitant powered self-assembly of papain for cross-linked enzyme crystals preparation

In this study,we prepared cross-linked enzyme crystals(CLECs)of papain to further broaden the application of the enzyme with high activity in extreme ***,papain crystals were successfully obtained based on the micro-batch,batch,and expanded batch crystallization ***,ammonium sulfate and polyethylene glycol 6000(PEG6000)were synergistically used as the precipitants,while L-cysteine was applied to enhance the activity of ***,the interaction between L-cysteine and papain was modeled by molecular docking *** was found that L-cysteine could form a hydrogen bond with aspartic acid residue(Asp)at site 158,and the electrostatic attraction with lysine residue(Lys)at site 156 was also quite *** the enzyme crystals were cross-linked by glutaraldehyde at optimized *** papain CLECs were identified by various methods,and it was found that the thermal stability and enzymatic activity both increased compared to the raw *** importantly,it could be applied at more rigorous conditions,for example,pH of 4.

Evidence of ancient rock-ice avalanches along the China-Bhutan Chomolhari Range,and their implications for demise of the summit

Large-scale rock-ice avalanches resulting from the interaction of tectonics and climate are characterized with high mobility,huge volumes of sediment,and rapid denudation,being a major agent of landscape evolution in high altitude mountainous ***,the extreme glaciated slope failures often transform into extraordinarily large and mobile debris flows,resulting in disastrous consequences such as sedimentation and *** to a dearth of on-site observation data and experimental data collection,our comprehension of the geomorphic and kinematic characteristics of rock-ice avalanches remains *** we report a cluster of ancient rock-ice avalanches spreading along the Chomolhari range of the China-Bhutan *** integrating remote sensing image interpretation with detailed field investigations,we demonstrate the geomorphic and sedimentary characteristics of four events among the *** estimated volumes of the four are 23.73 Mm³,39.69 Mm³,38.43 Mm³,and 38.25 Mm³,*** presence of pre-existing moraines or alluvial fans constrained their movement,resulting in deposition features such as marginal digitated lobes at higher elevations and large depressed areas in the *** the Savage-hutter theory,we calculate the basal friction angle and travel angle of these ancient rock-ice avalanches that are both less than 10°,affirming the similarity of these avalanches in the study area to those occurring in other *** study significantly contributes to understanding the geomorphic and kinematic characteristics of rock-ice avalanches in high-altitude mountainous regions,providing valuable insights into their response to the disproportionate growth of Himalayan peaks.

Physical-layer secret key generation(PSKG)provides a lightweight way for group key(GK)sharing between wireless users in large-scale wireless ***,most of the existing works in this field consider only group *** a commonly dual-task scenario,where both GK and pairwise key(PK)are required,traditional methods are less suitable for direct *** the first time,we discover a security issue with traditional methods in dual-task scenarios,which has not previously been *** propose an innovative segment-based key generation method to solve this security *** do not directly use PK exclusively to negotiate the GK as traditional ***,we generate GK and PK separately through segmentation which is the first solution to meet *** also perform security and rate *** is demonstrated that our method is effective in solving this security issue from an information-theoretic *** rate results of simulation are also consistent with the our rate derivation.

Heavy metals potentially drive co-selection of antibiotic resistance genes by shifting soil bacterial communities in paddy soils along the middle and lower Yangtze River

Heavy metals(HMs)and antibiotic resistance have become serious environmental problems affecting soil and human *** microorganisms play key roles in pollutant degradation and biogeochemical cycling processes;however,the interactions among HMs,soil microbial communities,and antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)in agricultural soils remain *** quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and NovaSeq sequencing,we evaluated heavy metal contents,abundances of ARGs,soil bacterial community structure and functions,and their correlations in paddy soils at 43 sampling sites along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River,central and eastern *** results showed the co-occurrence of HMs,ARGs,and HM resistance genes across all paddy ***,significant positive associations were detected between HMs and resistance ***,czcA,and int1 were positively correlated with bacterial community *** Mantel test showed that bacterial community composition and functions were significantly associated with HMs and resistance genes,such as Cd,Cr,Zn,copA,czcA,int1,and ***,HMs and ARGs were the major factors shaping soil bacterial communities;thus,HMs triggered proliferation of HM and antibiotic resistances by influencing the mobile genetic element(int1)and soil microbial *** study revealed that HMs potentially drive the co-selection of ARGs by shifting soil bacterial community structure and functions,thereby increasing the potential risks to human health as well as ecological environment in the paddy soils along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

The innate immune pathway is receiving increasing attention in cancer *** pathway is ubiquitous across various cell types,not only in innate immune cells but also in adaptive immune cells,tumor cells,and stromal *** targeting the innate immune pathway have shown profound changes in the tumor microenvironment(TME)and improved tumor prognosis in preclinical ***,to date,the clinical success of drugs targeting the innate immune pathway remains ***,recent studies have shown that activation of the innate immune pathway can paradoxically promote tumor *** uncertainty surrounding the therapeutic effectiveness of targeted drugs for the innate immune pathway is a critical issue that needs immediate *** this review,we observe that the role of the innate immune pathway demonstrates heterogeneity,linked to the tumor development stage,pathway status,and specific cell *** propose that within the TME,the innate immune pathway exhibits multidimensional *** diversity is fundamentally rooted in cellular heterogeneity and is manifested as a variety of signaling *** pro-tumor effect of innate immune pathway activation essentially reflects the suppression of classical pathways and the activation of potential pro-tumor alternative *** our understanding of the tumor's innate immune pathway network and employing appropriate targeting strategies can enhance our ability to harness the anti-tumor potential of the innate immune pathway and ultimately bridge the gap from preclinical to clinicalapplication.

The severe dependence of traditional phase change materials(PCMs)on the temperature-response and lattice deficiencies in versatility cannot satisfy demand for using such materials in complex application ***,we introduced metal ions to induce the self-assembly of MXene nanosheets and achieve their ordered arrangement by combining suction filtration and rapid ***,a series of MXene/K^(+)/paraffin wax(PW)phase change composites(PCCs)were obtained via vacuum impregnation in molten *** prepared MXene-based PCCs showed versatile applications from macroscale technologies,successfully transforming solar,electric,and magnetic energy into thermal energy stored as latent heat in the ***,due to the absence of binder in the MXene-based aerogel,MK3@PW exhibits a prime solar-thermal conversion efficiency(98.4%).Notably,MK3@PW can further convert the collected heat energy into electric energy through thermoelectric equipment and realize favorable solar-thermal-electric conversion(producing 206 mV of voltage with light radiation intensity of 200 mw cm^(−2)).An excellent Joule heat performance(reaching 105℃with an input voltage of 2.5 V)and responsive magnetic-thermal conversion behavior(a charging time of 11.8 s can achieve a thermal insulation effect of 285 s)for contactless thermotherapy were also demonstrated by the MK3@***,as a result of the ordered arrangement of MXene nanosheet self-assembly induced by potassium ions,MK3@PW PCC exhibits a higher electromagnetic shielding efficiency value(57.7 dB)than pure MXene aerogel/PW PCC(29.8 dB)with the same MXene *** work presents an opportunity for the multi-scene response and practical application of PCMs that satisfy demand of next-generation multifunctional PCCs.

In order to explore an efficient and green method to deal with nitrobenzene(NB)pollutant,reduced graphene oxide(r GO)as an electron shuttle was applied to enhance the extracellular electron transfer(EET)process of Geobacter sulfurreducens,which was a typical electrochemically active bacteria(EAB).In this study,r GO biosynthesis was achieved via the reduction of graphene oxide(GO)by *** PCA within 3 ***,the r GOPCA combining system completely reduced 50-200μmol/L of NB to aniline as end product within one *** characterization revealed that PCA cells were partly wrapped by rGO,and therefore the distance of electron transfer between strain PCA and r GO material was ***,the ID/IGof GO,r GO,and r GO-PCA combining system were 0.990,1.293 and 1.31,***,highest currents were observed in r GO-PCA-NB as 12.950μA/-12.560μA at -408 m V/156 m V,attributing to the faster electron transfer efficiency in EET ***,the NB reduction was mainly due to:(I)direct EET process from *** PCA to NB;(II)r GO served as electron shuttle and accelerated electron transfer to NB,which was the main degradation ***,the biosynthesis of r GO via GO reduction by Geobacter promoted the NB removal process,which provided a facile strategy to alleviate the problematic nitroaromatic pollution in the environment.

Enhanced photocatalytic nitrogen fixation performance via in situ constructing BiO_(2-x)/NaNbO_(3) heterojunction

The fabrication of heterojunction catalysts is an effective strategy to enhance charge separation efficiency,thereby boosting the performance of *** this study,BiO_(2-x)nanosheets were synthesized through a hydrothermal process and loaded onto NaNbO_(3) microcube to construct a series of BiO_(2-x)/NaNbO_(3) heterojunctions for photocatalytic N_(2) *** indicated that 2.5%BiO_(2-x)/NaNbO_(3) had the highest photocatalytic *** NH_(3) production rate under simulated solar light reached 406.4μmol·L^(-1)·g^(-1)·h^(-1),which reaches 2.6 and 3.8 times that of NaNbO_(3) and BiO_(2-x),***_(2-x)nanosheets primarily act as electron trappers to enhance the separation efficiency of charge *** strong interaction between BiO_(2-x)and NaNbO_(3) facilitates the electron migration between ***,the abundant oxygen vacancies in BiO_(2-x)nanosheets may facilitate the adsorption and activation of N_(2),which may be another possible reason of the high photocatalytic activity of the BiO_(2-x)/NaNbO_(3).This study may offer new insights for the development of semiconductor materials in photocatalytic nitrogen fixation.
