Nyquist Folding Receiver(NYFR)is a perceptron structure that realizes a low probability of intercept(LPI)signal analog to information.Aiming at the problem of LPI radar signal receiving,the time domain,frequency domain,and time-frequency domain problems of signals intercepted by NYFR structure are studied.Combined with the time-frequency analysis(TFA)method,a radar recognition scheme based on deep learning(DL)is introduced,which can reliably classify common LPI radar signals.First,the structure of NYFR and its characteristics in the time domain,frequency domain,and time and frequency domain are analyzed.Then,the received signal is then converted into a time-frequency image(TFI).Finally,four kinds of DL algorithms are used to classify LPI radar signals.Simulation results demonstrate the correctness of the NYFR structure,and the effectiveness of the proposed recognition method is verified by comparison experiments.

Single-cell encapsulation in droplet microfluidics is commonly hindered by the tradeoff between cell suspension density and on-chip focusing performance.In this study,we introduce a novel droplet microfluidic chip to overcome this challenge.The chip comprises a double spiral focusing unit,a flow resistance-based sample enrichment module with fine-tunable outlets,and a crossflow droplet generation unit.Utilizing a low-density cell/bead suspension(2×10^(6) objects/mL),cells/beads are focused into a near-equidistant linear arrangement within the double spiral microchannel.The excess water phase is diverted while cells/beads remain focused and sequentially encapsulated in individual droplets.Focusing performance was assessed through numerical simulations and experiments at three flow rates(40,60,80μL/min),demonstrating successful focusing at 40 and 80μL/min for beads and cells,respectively.In addition,both simulation and experimental results revealed that the flow resistance at the sample enrichment module is adjustable by punching different outlets,allowing over 50%of the aqueous phase to be removed.YOLOv8n-based droplet detection algorithms realized the counting of cells/beads in droplets,statistically demonstrating single-cell and bead encapsulation rates of 72.2%and 79.2%,respectively.All the results indicate that this on-chip sample enrichment approach can be further developed and employed as a critical component in single-cell encapsulation in water-in-oil droplets.

Wood-based bilayer solar evaporators,which possess cooperative advantages of natural wood and photothermal conversion coating including fast water transportation,low heat conduction,renewability,and high light absorbability,hold great promise for water purification.However,previous studies suffer from low evaporation rates and high cost of coatings,and lack a deep understanding how the porous structures of coating layer function.Herein,a novel bilayer solar evaporator is designed through facile surface coating of wood by low-cost porous carbon from controlled carbonization of polyester waste.The porous carbon bears rich oxygen-containing groups,well-controlled micro-/meso-/macropores,and high surface areas(1164 m^(2) g^(−1)).It is proved that porous carbon improves sunlight absorption and promotes the formation of numerous water clusters to reduce water evaporation enthalpy.Owing to these combined features,the bilayer solar evaporator exhibits high evaporation rate(2.38 kg m^(−2) h^(−1)),excellent longterm stability,and good salt resistance.More importantly,a large-scale solar desalination device for outdoor experiments is developed to produce freshwater from seawater.The daily freshwater production amount(3.65 kg m^(−2))per unit area meets the daily water consumption requirement of one adult.These findings will inspire new paradigms toward developing efficient solar steaming technologies for desalination to address global freshwater shortage.

The composite of zeolitic imidazolate frameworks(ZIF-67)and ordered macroporous carbon(OMC)was successfully synthesized via in situ growth from the OMC matrix.The ZIF67–OMC composite was verified by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM),powder X-ray diffraction(XRD)and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)and then evaluated as a modified material for electrochemical sensor.Benefitting from the large surface area and enhanced conductivity of the ZIF67–OMC composite,ZIF67–OMC nanocomposite showed superior electrocatalytic performance toward acetaminophen(AP)oxidation.The redox reaction of AP underwent a quasi-reversible redox reaction with higher anodic current at ZIF67–OMC modified electrode compared with the bare glassy carbon electrode(GCE).In optimal condition,the ZIF67–OMC/GCE was stable,reproducible and had a linear range of 0.05–100 μmol·L^(-1) AP concentration,with the detection limit of 20 nmol·L^(-1)(signal-to-noise of S/N=3).In addition,the prepared sensing platform for the detection of AP was evaluated for the compound paracetamol tablets and urine samples.

Highway icing time prediction with deep learning approaches based on data from road sensors

In harsh climates,highway icing poses a hazard to traffic safety and increases road maintenance costs.It is of great significance to predict when the highway icing may occur and take a preventive plan.However,there are few studies on highway icing time prediction due to the scarcity and complexity of data.In this study,variables of icing temperature,friction,ice percentage,road surface temperature,water film height,saline concentration,and road condition were collected by road sensors distributed on a highway in China.A large-scale time series highway surface information dataset called HighwayIce is formed.Furthermore,a deep learning approach called IceAlarm,composed of long short-term memory neural network(LSTM),multilayer perceptron(MLP),and residual connection,has been developed to predict when the highway will ice.The LSTM is used to process dynamic variables,the MLP is used to process static variables,and the fully-connected layers with residual connections are used to make a deep fusion.The experimental results show that the average mean absolute error before icing using the IceAlarm model is about 6min and outperforms all baseline models.The HighwayIce dataset and IceAlarm model can help improve the prediction accuracy and efficiency of forecasting real-world road icing time,therefore reducing the impact of icy road conditions on traffic.

Recently, with the emergence of ChatGPT, the field of artificial intelligence has garnered widespread attention from various sectors of society. Reservoir Computing (RC) is a neuromorphic computing algorithm used to analyze time-series data. Unlike traditional artificial neural networks that require the weight values of all nodes in the trained network, RC only needs to train the readout layer. This makes the training process faster and more efficient, and it has been used in various applications, including speech recognition, image classification, and control systems. Its flexibility and efficiency make it a popular choice for processing large amounts of complex data. A recent research trend is to develop physical RC, which utilizes the nonlinear dynamic and short-term memory properties of physical systems (photonic modules, spintronic devices, memristors, etc.) to construct a fixed random neural network structure for processing input data to reduce computing time and energy. In this paper, we introduced the recent development of memristors and demonstrated the remarkable data processing capability of RC systems based on memristors. Not only do they possess excellent data processing ability comparable to digital RC systems, but they also have lower energy consumption and greater robustness. Finally, we discussed the development prospects and challenges faced by memristors-based RC systems.

In the Changqing Oilfield in northwest China, when traditional petroleum exploitation encounters forestry reserves or water source protection areas, sectorial well-factory design is proposed. The most distinct feature of a sectorial well-factory is the deviation of the well from the minimum horizontal principal stress, resulting in hydraulic fracture deflection after the initiation, along with possible well interference (i.e., fracture hit) and fracture coalescence in the oblique wells. Four indexes describing well deflection are then proposed according to fracture morphology. Several fracturing designs, including stage arrangement, fracturing sequences, and fracturing techniques are applied to study the feasibility of the sectorial well-factory design. The results show that the “gradual” or “sparse” stage arrangement, large injection rate, and simultaneous multifracture treatment can help to optimize the fracture morphology and stimulation design. However, the subsequent stress shadowing effect usually adversely affects the fracturing of adjacent wells. With a small initial horizontal stress difference, large injection rate and staggered stage arrangement can achieve ideal stimulation performance. Our results can provide a guidance for optimizing stimulation design in unconventional well-factory while taking into account environmental protection.

Morphing technology is one of the most effective methods to improve the flight efficiency of aircraft.Traditional control surfaces based morphing method is mature and widely used on current civil and military aircraft,but insufficiently effective for the entire flight envelope.Recent research on morphing wing still faces the challenge that the skin material for morphing should be both deformable and stiff.In this study,a continuous morphing trailing-edge wing with a new multi-stable nano skin material fabricated using surface mechanical attrition treatment technology was proposed and designed.Computational fluid dynamics simulation was used to study the aerodynamic performance of the continuous morphing trailing-edge wing.Results show that the lift coefficient increases with the increase of deflection angle and so does the lift-drag ratio at a small angle of attack.More importantly,compared with the wing using flaps,the continuous morphing trailing-edge wing can reduce drag during the morphing process and its overall aerodynamic performance is improved at a large angle of attack range.Flow field analysis reveals that the continuous morphing method can delay flow separation in some situations.
