Influence of Nd^(3+) concentration on mid-infrared emission in PbF_(2) crystal co-doped with Ho^(3+) and Nd^(3+) ions

A promising series of Ho_(y)Nd_(x)Pb_((1-x-y))F_2(x = 0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04;y = 0.02) crystals was grown by the Bridgman method. The influence of the Nd^(3+)ions concentration on mid-infrared(~2.0, ~2.9 and ~3.9 μm)fluorescence emissions of Ho^(3+)ions in the PbF_(2) crystal excited by 808 nm laser diode was investigated in this work. The energy transfer mechanism between Nd^(3+)ions and Ho~(3+)ions under different concentrations of the Nd^(3+)ions was systematically analyzed. The results show that the Nd^(3+)ions have good sensitization and deactivation effect on the Ho^(3+)ions to stimulate the mid-infrared fluorescence emissions. The experimental analysis proves that the sensitization efficiency of the Nd^(3+)ions is relatively stable at around 93.45% with varying Nd^(3+)-doping concentrations. Concentration dependence studies indicate that the concentration of the Nd^(3+)ions has significant influence on mid-infrared *** the doping concentration of the Nd^(3+)ions is up to 2.0 at%, the intensity of ~2.0, ~2.9 and ~3.9 μm emissions all reach the maximum. The output characteristics of a 3.9 μm laser are simulated, and it is found that with the increase of the Nd^(3+)-doping concentration, the peak power, pulse width, and peak energy all meet the trend of first increasing and then decreasing, and Ho_(0.02)Nd_(0.02)Pb_(0.96)F_(2) crystal displays the best performance. All the results show that the Nd^(3+)/Ho^(3+)co-doped PbF_(2) crystals might act as a useful optical medium for mid-infrared laser applications.

Machine learning assisted prediction of charge transfer properties in organic solar cells by using morphology-related descriptors

Charge transfer and transport properties are crucial in the photophysical process of exciton dissociation and recombination at the donor/acceptor(D/A)***,machine learning(ML)is applied to predict the charge transfer state energy(ECT)and identify the relationship between ECT and intermolecular packing structures sampled from molecular dynamics(MD)simulations on fullerene-and non-fullerene-based systems with different D/A ratios(RDA),oligomer sizes,and D/A *** gradient boosting regression(GBR)exhibits satisfactory performance(r=0.96)in predicting ECT withπ-packing related features,aggregation extent,backbone of donor,and energy levels of frontier molecular *** charge transport property affected byπ-packing with different RDA has also been investigated by space-charge-limited current(SCLC)measurement and MD *** SCLC results indicate an improved hole transport of non-fullerene system PM6/Y6 with RDA of 1.2:1 in comparison with the 1:1 counterpart,which is mainly attributed to the bridge role of donor unit in *** reduced energetic disorder is correlated with the improved miscibility of polymer with RDA increased from 1:1 to 1.2:*** morphology-related features are also applicable to other complicated systems,such as perovskite solar cells,to bridge the gap between device performance and microscopic packing structures.

Plasmon-generated hot electrons show great potential for driving chemical *** utilization efficiency of hot electrons is highly dependent on the interaction of the electronic states at the interfaces between plasmonic nanoparticles and other materials/*** interaction can produce new hybridized electron states,which permit direct hot-electron transfer,a more efficient transfer ***,Au usually has very weak interaction with most molecules because of its inertness,which makes direct hot-electron transfer ***,the improvement of the hot-electron transfer efficiency from Au to N_(2)is demonstrated by introducing a Ru bridging *** the N_(2)fixation rate and Faradic efficiency(FE)are enhanced by the excitation of *** enhancement of the N_(2)fixation rate is found to arise from plasmon-generated hot *** calculations show that the strong interaction of the Ru electronic states with the N_(2)molecular orbitals produces new hybridized electronic states,and the Ru d electrons also strongly couple with the Au sp *** a bridging role of Ru makes direct hot-electron transfer from Au to N_(2)possible,improving the FE of nitrogen *** findings demonstrate a new approach to increasing the utilization efficiency of plasmonic hot electrons for chemical reactions and will be helpful to the design of plasmonic catalysts in the future.

Tectonic boundaries in the South China Sea from aeromagnetic signature

Magnetic data has been widely applied in the tectonic ***-resolution magnetic data were used to analyze the geotectonic zoning of the South China *** on the newly compilated magnetic data,the processing results and the distribution of known faults,we consider that the U-shaped line approximately along the South China Sea national boundary of China shown in the magnetic map is a significant geological and geophysical *** first described the linear characteristics of the magnetic data and then applied pseudo-gravity,Euler deconvolution,tilt derivatives,and the texture segmentation method to process the *** show that the dividing line between the South China Sea and the surrounding blocks is approximately along this U-shaped *** dividing line between the South China domain and the South China Sea domain is along with the Dongsha Islands to Xisha Trough,which is different from the previous geophysical zoning *** results are almost consistent with those of the gravity data indicating roughly the tectonic zonation along the U-shaped line.

Characterization of particle size and settling velocity of cohesive sediments affected by a neutral exopolymer

In natural waters,exopolymers or extracellular polymeric substances(EPS) exuded by microorganisms interact with clay particles,resulting in the flocculation of clays and hence alteration to the properties of suspended cohesive *** investigate and further understand how neutral EPS affect cohesive sediment transport and the final sediment yield,an experimental study was conducted on laboratory-prepared clay and guar gum(used as an analog for neutral EPS) suspensions to characterize EPS-induced flocculation and the settling velocity of resultant *** different clays consisting of kaolinite,illite,Ca-montmorillonite,and Na-montmorillonite were studied to examine the influence of different layer charges on clay flocculation induced by neutral *** size was determined by a laser particle size analyzer,and settling velocity estimated by analyzing the time-series floc settling images captured by an optical *** indicate that neutral EPS promote clay-EPS flocculation for all four clays with the particle/floc size significantly increased from～0.1-60μm to as large as～600μ***' layer charge has a profound influence on the clay-EPS *** the same floc size,the settling velocity of clay-EPS flocs is typically smaller than that of pure clay flocs,which is attributed to the reduced density of flocs caused by the EPS. However,for flocs of the same composition(*** clay or hybrid clay-EPS mixture),the settling velocity increases with *** fractal dimension of these clay-EPS flocs estimated from settling velocity ranges from 1.39 to 1.47,which are smaller than that of pure clay flocs,indicating that these flocs are less compacted than the pure clay flocs.

Investigation and Simulation of CNG Bus Emissions Based on Real-World Emission Measurement

The regulated gaseous emissions from 2 China-V compressed natural gas(CNG)buses and 2 China-V diesel buses were investigated using a portable emissions measurement system(PEMS)under real road driving *** to diesel buses,CNG buses emit less NOx pollutants,but more HC and CO pollutants based on the test results obtained in this *** order to evaluate the pollutant emission status of CNG buses in Beijing,an instantaneous emission model as a function of vehicle speed and vehicle specific power(VSP)was developed and validated based on emission data taken from one CNG *** input of the instantaneous emission model consists of driving cycle,vehicle parameters,road conditions,ambient conditions and accessory use,all of which were used to calculate the instantaneous vehicle specific power(VSP).For the core model,a group of pollutant emission maps represented as functions of vehicle speed and VSP were used to calculate the second by second emission ***,the instantaneous emission rates,emission factors and fuel consumption over the selected driving cycle could be obtained as the model *** predicted results for the emissions and fuel consumption of the CNG bus were very close to the tested emission *** prediction errors for emission factors and fuel consumption varied in the range of-1.6 2%to-5.8%.

Theoretical study on the relationship between the position of the substituent and the ESIPT fluorescence characteristic of HPIP

The influences of the substituent base position on the excited state intramolecular proton transfer fluorescence properties were explored in 2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)imidazo[1,2-a]-pyridine(HPIP)and HPIP's derivatives(5'Br-HPIP and 6'BrHPIP).And the density functional theory(DFT)and time-dependent DFT(TD-DFT)methods were used to calculate the molecule *** calculated results showed that the influence of 5'Br-HPIP on the fluorescence intensity is stronger than that of 6'*** fluorescence emission peak of 5'Br-HPIP occurred a blue shift compared with HPIP,and 6'BrHPIP exhibited an opposite red *** change of the fluorescence emission peak was attributed to the decrease of the energy gap from 6'Br-HPIP to 5'*** work on the substituent position influence could be helpful to design and develop new materials.
