eco-toxicity and health risk assessment of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in surface sediments of Burullus Lake in egypt

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)are ubiquitous environmental contaminants of growing concern due to their potential ecological and human health *** study presents a comprehensive assessment of PAHs contamination in the surface sediments of Burullus Lake,a vital and second largest delta lake in *** aim was to evaluate the eco-toxicity and potential health risks associated with the presence of these *** seven sediment samples were collected from various drains in the southern part of Burullus *** extraction method was employed to extract PAHs(16PAHs)from the sediment ***,target compounds were located using *** results showed that samples contained PAHs levels ranging from 0.038×10^(-6)to 0.459×10^(-6),which is considered heavily polluted by the european standard for PAHs ***,there was no apparent source of PAHs in the elKhashah drain or the Brinbal Canal,as HPLC found none of the *** most prevalent compound in sediment samples along the study area was *** diagnostic indices in the present study indicated that the hydrocarbons in the region originated from pyrolytic and man-made sources along the drains of Burullus *** principal component analysis(PCA)and diagnostic ratios revealed that coal combustion and pyrolytic sources were responsible for the PAHs contamination in the surface *** non-carcinogenic risk(HI),which is the product of the HQs for the adult and child populations,respectively,was *** values under 1,therefore,demonstrated that they had no carcinogenic effects on human *** and MeQs in the sediments of Burullus Lake do not have a cancer-causing impact on *** the safety of nearby wildlife,aquatic life,and people,all activities that raise petroleum hydrocarbon levels in Burullus Lake must be adequately regulated and *** to the ecological risk assessment,there is little chance that PAHs will be found

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the educational systems worldwide,leading to the near-total closures of schools,universities,and *** need to adapt to changes to face this crisis without negatively affecting students’***,the purpose of this study is to identify and help solve to critical challenges and factors that influence the e-learning system for Computer Maintenance courses during the COVID-19 *** paper examines the effect of a hybrid modeling approach that uses Cloud Computing Services(CCS)and Virtual Reality(VR)in a Virtual Cloud Learning environment(VCLe)*** VCLe system provides students with various utilities and educational services such as presentation slides/text,data sharing,assignments,quizzes/tests,and *** addition,learning through VR enables the students to simulate physical presence,and they respond well to VR environments that are closer to reality as they feel that they are an integral part of the ***,the research presents a rubric assessment that the students can use to reflect on the skills they used during the *** research findings offer useful suggestions for enabling students to become acquainted with the proposed system’s usage,especially during theCOVID-19 pandemic,and for improving student achievementmore than the traditional methods of learning.

Utilization of bromine azide to access vicinal-azidobromides from arylidene malononitrile

An efficient and facile approach for tetrachlorosilane as an in situ mediated transformation via a one-pot, synthesis of vicinal bromoazides through the generation of BrN3 from azidochlorosilane and N-bromosuccinimide in acetonitrile as solvent at ambient temperature is achieved. This catalytic process represents a highly regioselective and high yielding method for the synthesis of 1,2- bromoazides. Thiamine pyrophosphate （TPP） riboswitches regulate essential genes in bacteria by changing conformation upon binding intracellular TPP. Molecular docking studies are conducted to understand the orientation and the interaction of each synthesized molecules with TPP riboswitches, 2016 Chinese Chemical Society and Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academv of Medical Sciences.

Mass attenuation coefficient of olive peat material for absorbing gamma ray energy

The mass attenuation coefficients (l/q) of a natural material, i.e., olive peat, were measured at photon energies of 0.059, 0.356, 0.662, 1.17, and 1.332 MeV and compared with those of concrete and Pb. The experimental samples were irradiated with 214Am, 133Ba, 137Cs, and 60Co point sources using a transmission arrangement. The olive peat samples were obtained from different areas in Jordan, namely Mafraq (sample M), Kerak (sample K), Ajloun (sample A), and Irbid (sample I), and photon energies were measured using a NaI(Tl) scintillation detector with an energy resolution of 7.6% at 662 keV. The differences in the l/q of olive peat samples and the calculated l/q of concrete were consistently within 0.7% at photon energies of 0.356–1.332 MeV. This finding indicates that olive peat can be used in radiation applications in the field of medical physics. Finally, the half-value layer (HVL) of the experimental samples was measured, and results were compared with those of concrete and Pb. Pb and concrete exhibited minimal HVL values due to their high density, and the HVL of olive peat revealed lower shielding effectiveness than that of concrete.

Using passive cooling strategies to improve thermal performance and reduce energy consumption of residential buildings in U.A.e. buildings

Passive design responds to local climate and site conditions in order to maximise the comfort and health of building users while minimising energy use. The key to designing a passive building is to take best advantage of the local climate. Passive cooling refers to any technologies or design features adopted to reduce the temperature of buildings without the need for power consumption. Consequently, the aim of this study is to test the usefulness of applying selected passive cooling strategies to improve thermal performance and to reduce energy consumption of residential buildings in hot arid climate settings, namely Dubai, United Arab emirates. One case building was selected and eight passive cooling strategies were applied. energy simulation software namely IeS was used to assess the performance of the building. Solar shading performance was also assessed using Sun Cast Analysis, as a part of the IeS software. energy reduction was achieved due to both the harnessing of natural ventilation and the minimising of heat gain in line with applying good shading devices alongside the use of double glazing. Additionally, green roofing proved its potential by acting as an effective roof insulation. The study revealed several significant findings including that the total annual energy consumption of a residential building in Dubai may be reduced by up to 23.6% when a building uses passive cooling strategies.

An explicit and novel structure,lattice dynamics,and photoemission of La-doped nanocrystalline SrZrO_(3) perovskite

As no complete and comprehensive studies have been previously reported for La-doped nanocrystalline SrZrO_(3)(SZO),we researched herein a detailed investigation for pure and La-doped samples.A modified solid-state reaction process,including successive cycles of milling and sintering at high temperature,was followed to produce SZO and Sr_(0.9)La_(0.1)ZrO_(3)(SLZO)powdered *** analysis of X-ray diffractometer data predicts that the two samples exhibit orthorhombic structure with an increase in crystallite size by~25%for doped sample.A great reduction in Raman modes intensity(~60%)and an annihilation of several vibration modes were detected using Raman *** degree of ordering on the B-site was recorded to be higher in La-doped *** to ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)absorption,a decrease in the optical gap width(e_(g))from 4.40 eV to 4.21 eV was achieved by La incorporation due to the presence of additional defect states such as oxygen and Sr vacancies at the band *** process of electron-hole recombination was studied using photoluminescence(PL)*** of PL spectra yielded four emission bands:one green band,one blue band,and two violet *** intense violet emission atλ=393 nm approximately five times greater than that detected for pure SZO is realized as La^(3+)substitutes for Sr^(2+).Such property nominates SLZO for technological applications requiring highly intense violet emission,e.g.,light-emitting diodes.

Desert rhizoliths are generally found as weathered,broken and scattered samples on dune field surface,but rarely insitu in their initial states buried under the soil of desert in the Badain Jaran Desert,northwest *** study off ers an assessment of the morphological,mineralogical,and chemical properties of intact and in-situ rhizoliths found in soils of swales and depressions among dune *** characteristics of these rare and precious objects were assessed using optical polarizing microscopy,cathodoluminescence,scanning electronic microscopy,radiocarbon dating,and stable isotopic analyses,providing the opportunity for discussion of the rhizolith formation mechanisms and associated environmental *** and laboratory investigations showed that the in-situ intact rhizoliths were formed only in the places where Artemisia shrubs are living,and the remaining root relicts within rhizoliths belong to this *** spatial distribution of rhizoliths also suggested that low topographic positions on a landscape provided soil moisture,and redox environments favored rhizolith formation.A semi-closed redox environment in the subsoil at swales and depressions,where water is always present,along with the sandy soil texture,facilitated fast water percolation to deeper depths and *** a soil environment not only provides water for Artemisia growth,but also for the weathering of minerals such as felspars and calcite from primary carbonates,and for the decomposition of root ***,harsh climatic conditions,such as strong winds and solar radiation,led to water evaporation through dead root channels and triggered the calcification along the root *** entrapped lithogenic carbonates and to a lesser extent the decomposition of Artemisia roots provided the carbon sources for the rhizoliths formation,while the weathering of soil minerals,particularly feldspars and carbonates,was the main source of *** in the Badain Jaran des

Assessment of Gross Chemical Composition, Mineral Composition, Vitamin Composition and Amino Acids Composition of Wheat Biscuits and Wheat Germ Fortified Biscuits

Wheat germ is reckoned valuable healthful functional food. The present investigation was performed to assess nutritional status of wheat biscuits and wheat germ fortified biscuits. Study included determination of gross chemical composition, caloric value, minerals (Mn, Ca, Fe, Cu, P, Na and K), vitamins (C, Folic acid, A, and e), and amino acid composition of wheat biscuits and 15%, 20% wheat germ fortified biscuits. Likewise physical and sensory characteristics of studied biscuits were assessed. The data revealed that 20% wheat germ fortified biscuits proved to be nutritious functional healthful food. It improved both physical, sensory characteristics and recorded the highest crude protein (12.20%), crude fiber (2%), and the least fat (9.63%), moisture (3.01%), and caloric value (436.31 Kcal/100g). While it recorded the highest Mn and Cu contents as well as increased vitamins C, Folic acid, A, and e. Besides, 20% wheat germ fortified biscuits increased all the eight essential amino acids contents resulting in an improvement of the nutritive value of wheat biscuits. Therefore it could be recommended for caloric reduced diets for obese and overweight persons. Likewise, it should be increasing interest as an ingredient in the industry as functional and healthy foods formulations as biscuits, bread and cakes.

Power-scaled dissipative soliton using double-cladding-pumped Yb-doped all-fiber amplifier

We report on an all-fiber oscillator followed by an all-fiber amplifier to produce as short as 382 fs laser pulses with up to 0.9 W average power. The oscillator is an all-normal-dispersion all-fiber dissipative soliton laser operating at1030 nm, and operating in dissipative soliton mode. The amplifier stage is mainly based on a double-cladding20 μm radius ytterbium-doped fiber pumped by an up to 2.5 W CW laser source. The optical-to-optical conversion amplifier efficiency is around 40%. To our knowledge, this is the first report of an all-fiber mode-locked fiber laser oscillator amplified by an all-fiber amplifier.
