Graphene based nanosheets have been widely used as building blocks for fabrication of superior separation membrane for water processing.In particular,membranes made of reduced graphene oxide(rGO)show better stability compared with graphene oxide(GO).However,densely stacked of rGO often results in low water flux.In this study,cellulose nanofibers(CNFs)were incorporated into the rGO laminates by vacuum filtration of dilute GO/CNF solution and thermal reduction at 150C for 1.5 h.The resulting rGO/CNF membrane was treated with oxygen plasma for 1–4 min to create nanopores on the membrane surface for the purpose of enhancing nano-filtration performance.The results showed that the optimum membrane performance was obtained by using the equal amount of GO(31.83 mg m^(-2))and CNFs accompanied by 3 min of plasma treatment,exhibiting a pure water permeance of 37.23.9 L m^(-2)h^(-1)bar^(-1)maintaining a rejection above 90%for Acid Fuchsin(1.2×1.1 nm),Rose Bengal(1.5×1.2 nm)and Brilliant Blue(2.2×1.7 nm).

In this work,the magnetic,dielectric properties and electric modulus of Ce^(3+) substituted cobaltmagnesium(Co_(0.7)Mg_(0.3)Ce_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_4)(labeled as CMCF) ferrite nanoparticles were investigated in detail.Saturation magnetization decreases from 50.05 to 34.87 emu/g for further substituting Ce^(3+) ions.Meanwhile,coercivity increases from 738.22 Gs for the CMCFO sample to 912.10 Gs for the CMCF2 sample,then decreases monotonically to 762.1 Gs for the CMCF5 sample.The cerium content and particle size play important roles in controlling the magnetization and coercivity of the CMCF nanoparticles.All CMCF nanoferrites are suitable for microwave applications since their high-frequency response ranges from 7.72 to 11.07 GHz.The CMCF nanoferrites' dielectric parameter dispersion exhibits normal behavior.The pristine Co-Mg nanoferrite only has ε' value of 28.25,but the nanoferrite MCMF2 has ε' value of365.03,with an enhancing ratio of 1192%.The conduction mechanism of the MCMF nanoferrites was determined by fitting the σ_(ac) results via the Jonscher power law.At 653 K,large polaron tunnelling is thought to be responsible for this conduction process,which is followed by electron barrier hopping at higher temperatures.Cole-Cole diagrams at different temperatures,assuring the contributions of the grains and their boundaries at lower temperatures(653 K) and only the grains at higher temperatures.Based on our results,the CMCF nanoferrites hold magnetic and semiconducting nature,which can be used in magnetic devices and dielectrics in lower-frequencies or conductors in higher-frequencies.

Nonlinear fractional differential equations provide suitable models to describe real-world phenomena and many fractional derivatives are varying with time and space.The present study considers the advanced and broad spectrum of the nonlinear(NL)variable-order fractional differential equation(VO-FDE)in sense of VO Caputo fractional derivative(CFD)to describe the physical models.The VO-FDE transforms into an ordinary differential equation(ODE)and then solving by the modified(G/G)-expansion method.For ac-curacy,the space-time VO fractional Korteweg-de Vries(KdV)equation is solved by the proposed method and obtained some new types of periodic wave,singular,and Kink exact solutions.The newly obtained solutions confirmed that the proposed method is well-ordered and capable implement to find a class of NL-VO equations.The VO non-integer performance of the solutions is studied broadly by using 2D and 3D graphical representation.The results revealed that the NL VO-FDEs are highly active,functional and convenient in explaining the problems in scientific physics.

Life Time Attributable Cancer Risk Estimated Using Scanner Reported Dose Length Product during Chest Computed Tomography Imaging in Young Children

This study aims to estimate the lifetime attributable cancer risk (LAR) for pediatric chest computed tomography (CT) examinations in five age groups using recently published age and region-specific conversion coefficients multiplying the widely available scanner registered dose length products (DLP) displayed on the CT console and hence calculating the Effective Dose (ED). The ED is then multiplied by the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) published risk factor for LAR. The obtained LAR values are compared with the international literature. Factors that may affect the LAR value are reported and discussed. The study included one hundred twenty five chest CT examinations for both males and females aged from less than one year to fifteen years. The patients reported data are from one single medical institution and using two CT scanners from June 2022 to December 2023. The results of this study may serve as benchmark for institutional radiation dose reference levels and risk estimation.

Cloud computing(CC)is a novel technology that has made it easier to access network and computer resources on demand such as storage and data management services.In addition,it aims to strengthen systems and make them useful.Regardless of these advantages,cloud providers suffer from many security limits.Particularly,the security of resources and services represents a real challenge for cloud technologies.For this reason,a set of solutions have been implemented to improve cloud security by monitoring resources,services,and networks,then detect attacks.Actually,intrusion detection system(IDS)is an enhanced mechanism used to control traffic within networks and detect abnormal activities.This paper presents a cloud-based intrusion detection model based on random forest(RF)and feature engineering.Specifically,the RF classifier is obtained and integrated to enhance accuracy(ACC)of the proposed detection model.The proposed model approach has been evaluated and validated on two datasets and gives 98.3%ACC and 99.99%ACC using Bot-IoT and NSL-KDD datasets,respectively.Consequently,the obtained results present good performances in terms of ACC,precision,and recall when compared to the recent related works.

Computed Tomography(CT)images have been extensively employed in disease diagnosis and treatment,causing a huge concern over the dose of radiation to which patients are exposed.Increasing the radiation dose to get a better image may lead to the development of genetic disorders and cancer in the patients;on the other hand,decreasing it by using a Low-Dose CT(LDCT)image may cause more noise and increased artifacts,which can compromise the diagnosis.So,image reconstruction from LDCT image data is necessary to improve radiologists’judgment and confidence.This study proposed three novel models for denoising LDCT images based on Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network(WGAN).They were incorporated with different loss functions,including Visual Geometry Group(VGG),Structural Similarity Loss(SSIM),and Structurally Sensitive Loss(SSL),to reduce noise and preserve important information on LDCT images and investigate the effect of different types of loss functions.Furthermore,experiments have been conducted on the Graphical Processing Unit(GPU)and Central Processing Unit(CPU)to compare the performance of the proposed models.The results demonstrated that images from the proposed WGAN-SSIM,WGAN-VGG-SSIM,and WGAN-VGG-SSL were denoised better than those from state-of-the-art models(WGAN,WGAN-VGG,and SMGAN)and converged to a stable equilibrium compared with WGAN and WGAN-VGG.The proposed models are effective in reducing noise,suppressing artifacts,and maintaining informative structure and texture details,especially WGAN-VGG-SSL which achieved a high peak-signalto-noise ratio(PNSR)on both GPU(26.1336)and CPU(25.8270).The average accuracy of WGAN-VGG-SSL outperformed that of the state-ofthe-art methods by 1 percent.Experiments prove that theWGAN-VGG-SSL is more stable than the other models on both GPU and CPU.

Healthcare systems nowadays depend on IoT sensors for sending data over the internet as a common practice.Encryption ofmedical images is very important to secure patient information.Encrypting these images consumes a lot of time onedge computing;therefore,theuse of anauto-encoder for compressionbefore encodingwill solve such a problem.In this paper,we use an auto-encoder to compress amedical image before encryption,and an encryption output(vector)is sent out over the network.On the other hand,a decoder was used to reproduce the original image back after the vector was received and decrypted.Two convolutional neural networks were conducted to evaluate our proposed approach:The first one is the auto-encoder,which is utilized to compress and encrypt the images,and the other assesses the classification accuracy of the image after decryption and decoding.Different hyperparameters of the encoder were tested,followed by the classification of the image to verify that no critical information was lost,to test the encryption and encoding resolution.In this approach,sixteen hyperparameter permutations are utilized,but this research discusses three main cases in detail.The first case shows that the combination of Mean Square Logarithmic Error(MSLE),ADAgrad,two layers for the auto-encoder,and ReLU had the best auto-encoder results with a Mean Absolute Error(MAE)=0.221 after 50 epochs and 75%classification with the best result for the classification algorithm.The second case shows the reflection of auto-encoder results on the classification results which is a combination ofMean Square Error(MSE),RMSprop,three layers for the auto-encoder,and ReLU,which had the best classification accuracy of 65%,the auto-encoder gives MAE=0.31 after 50 epochs.The third case is the worst,which is the combination of the hinge,RMSprop,three layers for the auto-encoder,and ReLU,providing accuracy of 20%and MAE=0.485.

Securing medical data while transmission on the network is required because it is sensitive and life-dependent data.Many methods are used for protection,such as Steganography,Digital Signature,Cryptography,and Watermarking.This paper introduces a novel robust algorithm that combines discrete wavelet transform(DWT),discrete cosine transform(DCT),and singular value decomposition(SVD)digital image-watermarking algorithms.The host image is decomposed using a two-dimensional DWT(2D-DWT)to approximate low-frequency sub-bands in the embedding process.Then the sub-band low-high(LH)is decomposed using 2D-DWT to four new sub-bands.The resulting sub-band low-high(LH1)is decomposed using 2D-DWT to four new sub-bands.Two frequency bands,high-high(HH_(2))and high-low(HL_(2)),are transformed by DCT,and then the SVD is applied to the DCT coefficients.The strongest modified singular values(SVs)vary very little for most attacks,which is an important property of SVD watermarking.The two watermark images are encrypted using two layers of encryption,circular and chaotic encryption techniques,to increase security.The first encrypted watermark is embedded in the S component of the DCT components of the HL_(2)coefficients.The second encrypted watermark is embedded in the S component of the DCT components of the HH2 coefficients.The suggested technique has been tested against various attacks and proven to provide excellent stability and imperceptibility results.

With the increase of heat transfer problems in marine vehicles and submerged power stations in oceans,the search for an efficient finned-tube heat exchanger has become particularly important.The purpose of the present investigation is to analyze and compare the thermal exchange and flow characteristics between five different fin designs,namely:a concentric circular finned-tube(CCFT),an eccentric circular finned-tube(ECFT),a perforated circular finned-tube(PCFT),a serrated circular finned-tube(SCFT),and a star-shaped finned-tube(S-SFT).The fin design and spacing impact on the thermal-flow performance of a heat exchanger was computed at Reynolds numbers varying from 4,300 to 15,000.From the numerical results,and when the fin spacing has been changed from 2 to 7 mm,an enhancement in the Colburn factor and a reduction in the friction factor and fin performances were observed for all cases under study.Three criteria were checked to select the most efficient fin design:the performance evaluation criterion P EC,the global performance criterion G PC,and the mass global performance criterion M G PC.Whatever the value of Reynolds number,the conventional CCFT provided the lowest performance evaluation criterion P EC,while the SCFT gave the highest amount of P EC.The most significant value of G PC was reached with the ECFT;however,G PC remained almost the same for CCFT,PCFT,SCFT,and S-SFT.In terms of the mass global performance criterion,the S-SFT provides the highest M Gpc as compared with the full fins of CCFT(41-73%higher)and ECFT(29-54%higher).Thus,the heat exchanger with S-SFT is recommended to be used in the cooling of offshore energy systems.

This work aims to prepare chitosan(CS)-based coated layers,CS(10 wt%nanosilver/90 wt%CS,10 wt%biotin/90 wt%CS,and 5 wt%nanosilver–5 wt%biotin)/90 wt%CS coatings are prepared,onto pure Ti substrate.The surface morphology of the novel CS composite coating was studied using field emission scanning electron microscopy,atomic force microscopy(AFM),Fourier transforms infrared(FTIR)and wettability test.Results show that the addition of(biotin,nanosilver)5 Vol.%improves the properties of composite materials.Using different particles’scale size aid in improving the combinations in the alginate,producing a dual effect on film properties.Coating surface roughness decreased in the chitosan-based biocomposite with preferable homogeneity and crack-free coating layers,as confirmed by AFM.An increase in surface roughness ensured substitution,which enhanced the surface structures.The high wettability of the CS-based coating layers was due to the presence of nanoparticles,and the composite coatings with CS,nanosilver,or biotin had excellent wettability because of the good hydrophilic nature of the CS matrix combined with reinforced particles.The FTIR results showed that peaks of the blending of CS plus nanoparticles,CS plus biotin,or CS plus nanosilver plus biotin were excellent matching with no changes in the structure of the matrix.
