Mulberry leaf flavonoids protect against glucotoxicity-induced INS-1 cell apoptosis

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of mulberry leaf flavonoids (MLF) on apoptosis of pancreatic cells induced by high ***:Long exposure to high glucose induces apoptosis of pancreaticβcells, which can lead to diabetes. In this study, we used the rat insulinoma cell line, INS-1. High glucose (33.3 mM) was used to establish a glucotoxicity model. The MTT assay was used to evaluate the MLF effect on cell ***-1 cells were treated with various concentra-tions of MLF (125, 250 and 500 mg/L) for 24 h, and then stimulated with 5.5 or 33.3 mM glucose for 48 ***, the cell supernatants were collected for enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to determine the level of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase(CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), malondialdehyde (MDA), monocyte chemoattractant protein1 (MCP-1), tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-α) and interleukin 6 (IL-6). Western blotting was used to determine the expression of Bcl-2, Bax, caspase-3 and Caspase-9. Cell apoptosis was measured by Annexin V-FITC/propidium iodide double staining and flow ***:MLF (125-500 mg/L) improved cell viability. Furthermore, MLF (250 and 500 mg/L) inhibited apoptosis induced by high glucose. The anti-apoptosis effect of MLF was associated with increased SOD, CAT and GSH-Px expression, as well as reduced MDA levels in high-glucose-treated INS-1cells. Moreover, MLF upregulated Bcl-2 expression,downregulated Bax expression, and reduced the expression of caspase-3 and Caspase-9. Finally, MLF decreased the secretion of inflammatory cytokines and insulin in high-glucose-induced INS-1 ***:MLF is a potential therapeutic agent for preventing diabetes and related disorders.

Characterizing the Structure Evolution of Tertiary Scale during Simulated Coiling by EBSD

An oxide scale formed at 900 ℃ for 60 s in dry air was subjected to the simulated coiling processed with different coiling temperatures. The phase transformation behavior, especially the orientation distribution of the oxide scale, was analyzed using electron backseattered diffraction （EBSD） technique. When cooling from the coiling tem- perature of 650 ℃, the scale consists of FeaO4 layer, FeO layer and FeaO4 seam. The FeaO4 precipitates are ob served in the FeO grains of the scale formed with the coiling temperature of 550 and 450 ℃. With the cofling temperature of 350 ℃, the decomposition of FeO is suppressed due to the low temperature. The Fe3O4 grains, which are decomposed from FeO, has the same orientation as the parent FeO grains. Moreover, the FeO grains, of which the growth direction is parallel to 〈001〉, is easier to decompose into Fe3O4 than the grains with other orientations.

Spectral Response of Different Eroded Soils in Subtropical China: A Case Study in Changting County, China

Hyper-spectral data is widely used to determine soil properties. However, few studies have explored the soil spectral characteristics as response to soil erosion. This study analysed the spectral response of different eroded soils in subtropical China and then identify the spectral characteristics and soil properties that better discriminate soils with different erosion degrees. Two methods were compared: direct identification by inherent spectral characteristics and indirect identification by predictions of critical soil properties. Results showed that the spectral curves for different degrees of erosion were similar in morphology, while overall reflectance and characteristics of specific absorption peaks were different. When the first method is applied, some differences among different eroded groups were found by integration of associated ***, the index of such indicators showed apparent mixing and crossover among different groups, which reduced the accuracy of *** the second method, the correlation between critical soil properties, such as soil organic matter(SOM), iron and aluminium oxides and reflectance spectra, was analysed. The correlation coefficients for the moderate eroded group were primarily between-0.3 to-0.5, which were worse than the other twogroups. However, the maximum value of R2 was obtained as 0.86 and 0.94 for the non-apparent eroded and the severe group. Furthermore, these two groups also showed some differences in the spectral response of iron complex state(Fep), Aluminium amorphous state(Alo) and the modelling results for soil organic matter(SOM). The study proved that it is feasible to identify different degrees of soil erosion by hyper-spectral data, and that indirect identification by modelling critical soil properties and reflectance spectra is much better than direct identification. These results indicate that hyper-spectral data may represent a promising tool in monitoring and modelling soil erosion.

采用挤出-滚圆法制备了改性钙基吸附剂颗粒,基于双固定床反应系统测试了吸附剂CO_(2)循环捕集性能。添加质量分数5%的水泥和10%纤维素模板的吸附剂20个循环后,CO_(2)吸附量最高为0.19 g/g。为再生其CO_(2)捕获性能,采用不同蒸汽体积分数和温度对改性钙基吸附剂进行煅烧后单独水合活化。结果表明:体积分数30%蒸汽、300℃为最佳活化再生工况,20个循环后改性吸附剂的CO_(2)吸附量为0.59 g/g。为探究水合处理对吸附剂碳酸化阶段的反应动力学影响,基于热天平进行了水合活化后吸附剂的第1、10、20次碳酸化,发现蒸汽水合活化可提升吸附剂碳酸化过程产物扩散控制阶段的反应速率。水合活化前后吸附剂颗粒的微观形貌、孔隙结构和机械性能测试结果表明,活化后吸附剂表面出现裂隙,破碎力和抗磨性能显著下降。

目的本研究旨在勾画正常成人心肌,分析T_(1)、T_(2)及细胞外间质容积分数(ECV)的范围,并建立适用于新疆地区的心血管磁共振成像(CMR)参数定量技术参考值。方法收集并分析2023年3—9月在新疆医科大学第一附属医院接受CMR检查的122名健康成人。采用Cvi软件进行心肌勾画,分析心功能参数、T_(1)、T_(2)及ECV值在不同性别、年龄及民族之间的差异。结果整体心肌的T_(1)平均值为(1090±74)ms,T_(2)平均值为(53.0±1.7)ms,ECV平均值为(28.3±3.3)%。女性T_(1)值[(1121±78)ms vs.(1065±61)ms,P<0.05]、T_(2)值[(53.3±1.4)ms vs.(52.7±1.9)ms,P<0.05]和ECV值[(29.1±2.9)%vs.(27.7±3.5)%,P<0.001]高于男性。随着年龄的增长,T_(1)和ECV值也增高,但差异无统计学意义,基底段T_(2)值在不同年龄组间差异有统计学意义,整体人群的T_(1)和T_(2)值与年龄存在相关性,T_(2)值的年龄与性别为男性有相关性,T_(1)和ECV值与年龄无相关性。在民族差异性分析中,少数民族的T_(1)值明显高于汉族,但T_(2)和ECV值在组间比较中差异无统计学意义。结论在本研究中,健康成人心肌的T_(1)、T_(2)及ECV值在年龄、性别及民族中差异有统计学意义。使用CMR参数定量技术时,有必要对年龄、性别及民族进行校正,有助于临床医师根据本地区参考值更加准确地诊断心脏疾病,确定疾病进展。

Brain pathways of pain empathy activated by pained facial expressions: a meta-analysis of fMRI using the activation likelihood estimation method

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to summarize and analyze the brain signal patterns of empathy for pain caused by facial expressions of pain utilizing activation likelihood estimation, a meta-analysis method. DATA SOURCES: Studies concerning the brain mechanism were searched from the Science Citation Index, Science Direct, PubMed, DeepDyve, Cochrane Library, SinoMed, Wanfang, VIP, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and other databases, such as SpringerLink, AMA, Science Online, Wiley Online, were collected. A time limitation of up to 13 December 2016 was applied to this study. DATA SELECTION: Studies presenting with all of the following criteria were considered for study inclusion: Use of functional magnetic resonance imaging, neutral and pained facial expression stimuli, involvement of adult healthy human participants over 18 years of age, whose empathy ability showed no difference from the healthy adult, a painless basic state, results presented in Talairach or Montreal Neurological Institute coordinates, multiple studies by the same team as long as they used different raw data. OUTCOME MEASURES: Activation likelihood estimation was used to calculate the combined main activated brain regions under the stimulation of pained facial expression. RESULTS: Eight studies were included, containing 178 subjects. Meta-analysis results suggested that the anterior cingulate cortex(BA32), anterior central gyrus(BA44), fusiform gyrus, and insula(BA13) were activated positively as major brain areas under the stimulation of pained facial expression. CONCLUSION: Our study shows that pained facial expression alone, without viewing of painful stimuli, activated brain regions related to pain empathy, further contributing to revealing the brain's mechanisms of pain empathy.
