Blockade of programmed death-1(PD-1)reinvigorates exhausted CD8^(+)T cells,resulting in tumor regression in cancer ***,reinvigoration of exhausted CD8^(+)T cells following PD-1 blockade was shown to be CD28-dependent in mouse ***,we examined the role of CD28 in anti-PD-1 antibody-induced human T cell reinvigoration using tumor-infiltrating CD8^(+)T cells(CD8^(+)TILs)obtained from non-small-cell lung cancer ***-cell analysis demonstrated a distinct expression pattern of CD28 between mouse and human CD8^(+)***,we found that human CD28^(+)CD8^(+)but not CD28^(–)CD8^(+)TILs responded to PD-1 blockade irrespective of B7/CD28 blockade,indicating that CD28 costimulation in human CD8^(+)TILs is dispensable for PD-1 blockade-induced reinvigoration and that loss of CD28 expression serves as a marker of anti-PD-1 antibody-unresponsive CD8^(+)*** and phenotypically,PD-1 blockade-unresponsive human CD28^(–)PD-1^(+)CD8^(+)TILs exhibited characteristics of terminally exhausted CD8^(+)T cells with low TCF1 ***,CD28^(–)PD-1^(+)CD8^(+)TILs had preserved machinery to respond to IL-15,and IL-15 treatment enhanced the proliferation of CD28^(–)PD-1^(+)CD8^(+)TILs as well as CD28^(+)PD-1^(+)CD8^(+)*** together,these results show that loss of CD28 expression is a marker of PD-1 blockade-unresponsive human CD8^(+)TILs with a TCF1–signature and provide mechanistic insights into combining IL-15 with anti-PD-1 antibodies.

Effect of Zhubin(KI9) Acupuncture in Reducing Alcohol Craving in Patients with Alcohol Dependence:A Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trial

Objective： To examine the effect of acupuncture on Zhubin （KI9） in reducing alcohol craving in alcohol-dependent patients. Methods： Twenty male alcohol-dependent patients were randomly assigned to two groups, a treatment group （10 cases, age 43.0 ± 6.8 years） and a placebo group （10 cases, age 44.5 ± 7.9 years）. The treatment group was treated with real needle acupuncture on Zhubin （KI9） twice a week for 4 weeks, and the control group was treated with placebo needle acupuncture. Both groups were given acupuncture treatment using Park Sham Device （PSD）. Alcohol craving was measured by the Visual Analogue Scale （VAS） before treatment to establish a baseline, and after 1, 2, and 4 weeks of treatment. Repeated measures ANOVA was used to determine the main and interaction effects of time and on the outcome measure （VAS）. Results： There was a significant effect of time on VAS score （dr=3, F=13.3, P〈0.01）. Main effect of group on VAS score was significant （df=1, F=10.9, P〈0.01） and the time × group interaction was also significant （df=3, F=4.7, P〈0.01）. Conclusions： Real-needle acupuncture therapy on Zhubin （KI9） showed effectiveness in reducing alcohol craving. These results strongly suggest the usefulness of acupuncture therapy on Zhubin （KI9） in preventing a relapse in alcohol dependent patients.

We study the minimizers of the Ginzburg-Landau model for variable thickness, superconducting, thin films with high k, placed in an applied magnetic field hex, when hex is of the order of the ＂first critical field＂, i.e. of the order of ｜lnε｜. We obtain the asymptotic estimates of minimal energy and describe the possible locations of the vortices.

Design of an 8 bit differential paired eFuse OTP memory IP reducing sensing resistance

For the conventional single-ended eFuse cell, sensing failures can occur due to a variation of a post-program eFuse resistance during the data retention time and a relatively high program resistance of several kilo ohms. A differential paired eFuse cell is designed which is about half the size smaller in sensing resistance of a programmed eFuse link than the conventional single-ended eFuse cell. Also, a sensing circuit of sense amplifier is proposed, based on D flip-flop structure to implement a simple sensing circuit. Furthermore, a sensing margin test circuit is proposed with variable pull-up loads out of consideration for resistance variation of a programmed eFuse. When an 8 bit eFuse OTP IP is designed with 0.18 ~tm standard CMOS logic of TSMC, the layout dimensions are 229.04 μm ×100.15μm. All the chips function successfully when 20 test chips are tested with a program voltage of 4.2 V.

Magnetism in two-dimensional(2D)van der Waals(vdW)materials has lately attracted considerable attention from the point of view of both fundamental science and device ***,establishing a detailed and solid understanding of their magnetism is the key first step toward various *** Fe_(3)GeTe_(2)is a representative ferromagnetic(FM)metal in this family,many aspects of its magnetic and electronic behaviors still remain ***,we report our new finding that Fe_(3)GeTe_(2)is a special type of correlated metal known as“Hund metal”.Furthermore,we demonstrate that Hund metallicity in this material is quite unique by exhibiting remarkable site dependence of Hund correlation strength,hereby dubbed“site-differentiated Hund metal”.Within this new picture,many of the previous experiments can be clearly understood,including the ones that were seemingly contradictory to one another.

Effect of Radiant Spectral Characteristics on Performance of a Near-Infra-Red Heating Module

We simulated the heat transfer phenomena of the heating module that is primarily based on the radiant energy in the near-infra-red(NIR) *** the module,the power emitted by the lamp filament is distributed to the lamp glass,reflector,and the target medium,which are cooled by an air *** radiant heat transfer is simulated by using the ray-tracing scheme,in which the spectral characteristics of the emission and the materials are *** heat transport from the lamp glass to the cooling air is analyzed by using the finite volume *** the lamp-filament temperature rises in the range of 3000-3400K,the NIR radiant power on the target medium ***,the lamp-glass temperature also rises,and the proportion of the NIR power to the entire radiation has a peak in the temperature *** spectral distributions of the absorbed energies in all the components in the module are highly non-uniform,and a monochromatic model of the radiant heat transfer may result in a significant discrepancy.

Efective Object Identification and Association by Varying Coverage Through RFID Power Control

This paper presents an effective power scheduling strategy for energy efficient multiple objects identification and association. The proposed method can be utilized in many heterogeneous surveillance systems with visual sensors and RFID （radio-frequency identification） readers where energy efficiency as well as association rate are critical Multiple objects positions and trajectory estimates are used to decide the power level of RFID readers. Several key parameters including the time windows and the distance separations are defined in the method in order to minimize the effects of RFID coverage uncertainty. The power cost model is defined and incorporated into the method to minimize energy consumption and to maximize association performance. The proposed method computes the power cost using the range of the outermost position for possible single association and group associations at every sampling time. An RFID reader is activated with the proper coverage range when the power cost for the current time is lower than the power cost for the next time sample. The simplicity of the power cost model relieves the problematic combinatorial comparisons in multiple object cases. The performance comparison simulation with the minimum and maximum energy consumption shows that the proposed method achieves fast single associations with less energy consumption. Finally, the realistic comparison simulation with the fixed range RFID readers demonstrates that the proposed method outperforms the fixed ranges in terms of single association rate and energy consumption.

Study of residual stresses in tailor rolled blanked Al5J32-T4 sheets

Several automotive parts such as door panels have been manufactured by using load-adapted blanks for crash optimization and weight minimization. Recently, Tailor Rolled Blanks (TRB) has been introduced to remove the disadvantages of a welding process which was used in joining panel components. TRB offers better structural design capabilities due to the seamless transitions on the panels with different thicknesses. In spite of the advantages of the process, TRB leaves internal stresses in the panel. This residual stresses lower the formability of Tailor Rolled Blanked (TRBed) parts and cause cracks near severe curvature during subsequent forming processes. In this research, the residual stresses of TRBed Al5J32-T4 sheets were studied by X-ray stress analysis, and also microstructure was observed along the rolling direction. In addition, heat treatment was done after TRB process in order to compare the residual stresses to that of the TRBed sheets before the heat treatment.

Electrochemical tests were undertaken to determine the optimum conditions in seawater for corrosion protection of friction stir-welded 5083-O Al *** trend observations show that the limiting potential that avoids the effects of hydrogen embrittlement is -1.6 V,corresponding to the crossover point between concentration polarization and activation ***,the optimum protection potential is between -1.5 and -0.7 V since the current density at these values is low in the potentiostatic *** a galvanic cell is formed in the seawater,the welds exhibit electrochemically stable *** parts in galvanic tests with various area ratios are stable and have excellent anticorrosion characteristics.

Moutan Cortex Radicis inhibits the nigrostriatal damage in a 6-OHDA-induced Parkinson's disease model

The traditionally used oriental herbal medicine Moutan Cortex Radicis [MCR; Paeonia Suffruticosa Andrews(Paeoniaceae)] exerts anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, and analgesic effects. In the present study, we investigated the therapeutic effects of differently fractioned MCR extracts in a 6-hydroxydopamine(OHDA)-induced Parkinson's disease model and neuro-blastoma B65 cells. Ethanol-extracted MCR was fractionated by n-hexane, butanol, and distilled water. Adult Sprague-Dawley rats were treated first with 20 μg of 6-OHDA, followed by three MCR extract fractions(100 or 200 mg·kg^(-1)) for 14 consecutive days. In the behavioral rotation experiment, the MCR extract-treated groups showed significantly decreased number of net turns compared with the 6-OHDA control group. The three fractions also significantly inhibited the reduction in tyrosine hydroxylase-positive cells in the substantia nigra pars compacta following 6-OHDA neurotoxicity. Western blotting analysis revealed significantly reduced tyrosine hydroxylase expression in the substantia nigra pars compacta in the 6-OHDA-treated group, which was significantly inhibited by the n-hexane or distilled water fractions of MCR. B65 cells were exposed to the extract fractions for 24 h prior to addition of 6-OHDA for 30 min; treatment with n-hexane or distilled water fractions of MCR reduced apoptotic cell death induced by 6-OHDA neurotoxicity and inhibited nitric oxide production and neuronal nitric oxide synthase expression. These results showed that n-hexane-and distilled water-fractioned MCR extracts inhibited 6-OHDA-induced neurotoxicity by suppressing nitric oxide production and neuronal nitric oxide synthase activity, suggesting that MCR extracts could serve as a novel candidate treatment for the patients with Parkinson's disease.
