The back-streaming white-neutron beamline (Back-n) of the China Spallation Neutron Source is an essential neutron- research platform built for the study of nuclear data, neutron physics, and neutron applications. Many types of cross-sectional neutron-reaction measurements have been performed at Back-n since early 2018. These measurements have shown that a significant number of gamma rays can be transmitted to the experimental stations of Back-n along with the neutron beam. These gamma rays, commonly referred to as in-beam gamma rays, can induce a non-negligible experimental background in neutron-reaction measurements. Studying the characteristics of in-beam gamma rays is important for understanding the experimental background. However, measuring in-beam gamma rays is challenging because most gamma-ray detectors are sensitive to neutrons; thus, discriminating between neutron-induced signals and those from in-beam gamma rays is difficult. In this study, we propose the use of the black resonance filter method and a CeBr3 scintillation detector to measure the characteristics of the in-beam gamma rays of Back-n. Four types of black resonance filters, Ta-181, Co-59, Ag-nat, and Cd-nat, were used in this measurement. The time-of-flight (TOF) technique was used to select the detector signals remaining in the absorption region of the TOF spectra, which were mainly induced by in-beam gamma rays. The energy distribution and flux of the in-beam gamma rays of Back-n were determined by analyzing the deposited energy spectra of the CeBr3 scintillation detector and using Monte Carlo simulations. Based on the results of this study, the background contributions from in-beam gamma rays in neutron-reaction measurements at Back-n can be reasonably evaluated, which is beneficial for enhancing both the experimental methodology and data analysis.

Novel method for measuring surface residual stress using flat-ended cylindrical indentation

Instrumented indentation is a promising technique for estimating surface residual stresses and mechanical properties in engineering *** relative difference between the indentation loads for unstressed and stressed specimens was selected as the key parameter for measuring surface residual stresses in flat-ended cylindrical *** on the equivalent material method and finite element simulations,a dimensionless mapping model with six constants was established between the relative load difference,constitutive model parameters,and normalized residual stress.A novel method for measuring the surface residual stress and constitutive model parameters of metallic material through flat-ended cylindrical indentations was proposed using this model and a mechanical properties determination *** simulations were conducted using numerous elastoplastic materials with different residual stresses to verify the proposed model;good agreements were observed between the predicted residual stresses and those previously applied in finite element ***-ended cylindrical indentation tests were performed on four metallic materials using cruciform specimens subjected to various equibiaxial *** results exhibited good conformance between the stress–strain curves obtained using the proposed method and those from traditional tensile tests,and the absolute differences between the predicted residual stresses and applied stresses were within 40 MPa in most cases.

Magnetic sense,or termed magnetoreception,has evolved in a broad range of taxa within the animal kingdom to facilitate orientation and ***,highly conserved A-type iron-sulfur proteins,are widely distributed across all phyla and play essential roles in both magnetoreception and iron-sulfur cluster ***,the evolutionary origins and functional diversification of MagRs from their prokaryotic ancestor remain *** this study,MagR sequences from 131 species,ranging from bacteria to humans,were selected for analysis,with 23 representative sequences covering species from prokaryotes to Mollusca,Arthropoda,Osteichthyes,Reptilia,Aves,and mammals chosen for protein expression and *** studies revealed a gradual increase in total iron content in MagRs during *** types of MagRs were identified,each with distinct iron and/or iron-sulfur cluster binding capacity and protein stability,indicating continuous expansion of the functional roles of MagRs during speciation and *** evolutionary biochemical study provides valuable insights into how evolution shapes the physical and chemical properties of biological molecules such as MagRs and how these properties influence the evolutionary trajectories of MagRs.

Based on the fact that it is challenging for the polymer flexible circuit substrates to meet the requirements of serving in high-temperature environments,this work proposed the idea of using printable ceramic fiber paper as a high-temperature flexible circuit substrate.A ceramic fiber paper with all ceramic components had been developed via electrospinning,solving the problems of low strength and severe strength drop at high temperatures of traditional ceramic fiber *** tensile strength of the prepared ceramic fiber paper is 2.63 MPa,and the reliable service temperature is 1200℃.Its bulk density is about 1.5 times that of traditional ceramic fiber *** can be printed with patterns by commercial inkjet printers like ordinary printing paper and has excellent *** feasibility of ceramic fiber paper as a flexible circuit substrate was verified by constructing a simple *** the fiber paper is significantly bent,the circuit still forms a complete path,which proves that it has a strong application potential for high-temperature flexible circuit substrate and is expected to promote the development of flexible electronic devices serving at extreme high-temperature environments.

New insights into the pre-lithiation kinetics of single-crystalline Ni-rich cathodes for long-life Li-ion batteries

Developing single-crystalline Ni-rich cathodes is an effective strategy to improve the safety and cycle life of Li-ion batteries(LIBs).However,the easy-to-loss of Li and O in high-temperature lithiation results in unsatisfactory ordered layered structure and ***,we demonstrate the synthesis of highly-ordered and fully-stoichiometric single-crystalline LiNi_(0.83)Co_(0.12)Mn_(0.05)O_(2)(SC-NCM83)cathodes by the regulation of pre-lithiation *** well-balanced pre-lithiation kinetics have been proved to greatly improve the proportion of layered phase in the intermediate by inhibiting the formation of metastable spinel phase,which promoted the rapid transformation of the intermediate into highly-ordered layered SC-NCM83 in the subsequent lithiation *** coating a layer of Li_(2)O–B_(2)O_(3),the resultant cathodes deliver superior cycling stability with 90.9%capacity retention at 1C after 300 cycles in pouch-type full *** enhancement mechanism has also been *** findings exhibit fundamental insights into the pre-lithiation kinetics process for guiding the synthesis of high-quality singlecrystalline Ni-rich cathodes.

Pavement Pothole Detection System Based on Deep Learning and Binocular Vision

Due to strong vibrations and the impact on high-speed vehicles， road potholes may cause discomfort to passengers， damaging the durability of the suspension and the integrity of the cargo. Therefore， a road pothole detection system is proposed， which uses deep learning and binocular vision for precise detection in the front. Based on the impact of road surface potholes on human driving behavior decisions of manually driven vehicles， which can cause drivers to slow down or stop， change driving routes， or even increase accident risks， road surface potholes can be divided into three categories: severe potholes (deep and large potholes)， non damaged road surfaces (flat surfaces without obvious potholes or damage)， and completely damaged road surfaces (there may be large areas of potholes， cracks， or other structural damage). 6848 road surface pit condition recognition datasets were constructed using a vehicle mounted binocular camera. Group attention shuffling block (CASB) is designed to enhance the expression of channel and spatial feature information in road images， while improving the existing shuffling network (ShuffleNetv2). This establishes a ShuffleNetv2 (CASB ShuffleNetv2) model based on mixed attention for identifying the state of road potholes. The experimental results show that the model has better accuracy than the basic model and can effectively detect road potholes. Due to the varying sizes of potholes on the road surface， small potholes may only require slight avoidance， while large potholes may cause serious vehicle damage. And there are different visual effects on the vertical distance of the pit. To address the aforementioned issues， the LabelImg image annotation tool was used to manually annotate the pothole areas， in order to construct a dataset for detecting 2029 road pothole areas.
