HLA class Ⅱ alleles and risk for peripheral neuropathy in type 2 diabetes patients

The potential impact of human leukocyte antigen （HLA） genotype variations on development of diabetic peripheral neuropathy （DPN） is not well determined. This study aimed to identify the association of HLA class II alleles with DPN in type 2 diabetes （T2D） patients. Totally 106 T2D patients, 49 with DPN and 57 without DPN, and 100 ethnic-matched healthy controls were analyzed. Both groups of the patients were matched based on sex, age, body mass index （BMI） and duration of T2D. Polyneuropathy was diagnosed using electrodiagnostic methods. HLA-DRB1 and DQB1 genotyping was performed in all subjects by the polymerase chain reaction with sequence-specific primers （PCR-SSP） method. T2D patients with DPN showed higher frequencies of HLA-DRB1＊10 and DRB1＊12 alleles compared to control group （P = 0.04）. HLA-DQB1＊02 allele and HLA-DRB1＊07-DQB1＊02 haplotype were associated with a decreased risk for developing DPN in T2D patients （P = 0.02 and P = 0.05 respectively）. Also, patients with severe neuropathy showed higher frequencies of DRB1＊07 （P = 0.003） and DQB1＊02 （P = 0.02） alleles than those with mild-to-moderate form of neuropathy. The distribution of DRB 1 and DQB 1 alleles and haplotypes were not statistically different between all patients and healthy controls. Our findings implicate a possible protective role of HLA-DQB1＊02 allele and HLA-DRB1＊07-DQB1＊02 haplotype against development of peripheral neuropathy in T2D patients. Therefore, variations in HLA genotypes might be used as genetic markers for prediction and potentially management of neuropathy in T2D patients.

Livestock units are known as one of the most influential sectors in the environment ***,the aim of this study was to investigate the environmental impacts of milk production in Guilan province of Iran through Life Cycle Assessment(LCA)*** primary data were collected from 45 units of milk production through a field survey with the help of a structured *** reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and was estimated an acceptable value of *** consumption of resources and emissions were allocated to a functional unit(FU)of one ton of *** of emissions in five impact categories of global warming,acidification,eutrophication,photochemical oxidation and depletion of resources were *** results showed that the characterization index for these impact categories were 1831 kg CO2 eq,7.97 kg SO2 eq,3.42 kg PO4^-3 eq,0.21 kg C2H4 eq and 838.39 MJ,*** indices for these impact categories were calculated as 0.24,0.28,0.076,0.017 and 0.046,*** index(EcoX)and resources depletion index(RDI)were obtained 0.61 and 0.04,*** this study,the highest potential for environmental impacts of production revealed for acidification and followed by global warming impact category.

Based on extensive field work in the northern Zagros Mountains, a new subspecies of Darevskia raddei （Boettger, 1892） from the west Azerbaijan Province, northwestern Iran is described. The new subspecies is distinguishable from all the other three subspecies of D. raddei based on the combination of several distinguishing characters, such as dorsal body with 50-55 oval to round, smooth, or very weakly keeled, scales, 25-31 scales across the gular region, 18-20 femoral pores on each side of body （reaching the knee）, 29-31 tuberculate lamellae under the fourth toe, 11-12 supraciliaries, 9-11 collars and a specific color pattern. The new subspecies meets all the morphological characters described by Eiselt et al. （1993） for an undefined and intermediate form between D. raddei raddei in the east of and D. r vanensis in the west of the distribution range of the species.

Polysulfone （PSf） membranes were modified by either a new organic modifier （sulfonated poly（ether sulfide sulfone）, SPESS） or a traditional modifier （rice hulk）. These membranes were further reinforced with either multi-walled carbon nanotubes （MWCNTs） or silica nanoparticles. Having a dye rejection of 98.46%, the reinforced membranes increased more than 50% in strength but no change in solution flux was observed. The morphological and roughness studies were conducted using scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Moreover, the PSF membranes were also characterized by differential scanning calorimetry. Modifying the membranes with organic modifier or nanofiller increases the glass transition temperature （Tg）. The highest Tg and strength were observed for the PSf-SPESS- MWCNT membrane. SPESS decreases surface roughness but MWCNT increases roughness on the nanoscale. All membranes show a bimodal pore size distribution, whereas the PSf-SPESS-MWCNT membrane exhibits a relatively uniform distribution of macroscopic and microscopic pores.

以3-Amino-5a,10a-dihydroxybenzo[b] indeno [2,l-d]furan-10-one (ADIF)功能化改性的纳米碳管(MWCNT-ADIF)为吸附剂,除去水溶液中的Pb^2+。采用FT-IR, SEM, TGA及DTG对MWCNT-ADIF样品进行表征。探讨了pH值、Pb^2+初始浓度、吸附量和接触时间对吸附动力学与平衡的影响。采用4种二参数模型(Langmuir、Freundlich、Tempkin与Dubinin-Radushkevich)和6种三参数模型(Redlich-Peterson, Khan, Sips, Radke-Prausnitz, Toth, Hil)研究Pb^2+吸附等温线。通过伪一阶动力学模型、伪二阶动力学模型和粒子内扩散模型分析吸附动力学。采用3种误差分析方法、相关系数、卡方值和平均相对误差来确定最佳拟合等温线和动力学模型。结果表明,吸附动力学与伪二阶动力学模型相吻合。误差分析表明,三参数模型比二参数模型更适合描述Pb^2+吸附数据。等温线数据与Langmuir、 Hill和Sips models相符。MWCNT-ADIF在pH=3溶液中能脱除92%的Pb^2+,并且回收后的MWCNT-ADIF能重复使用5个再生周期。

Objective:To identify the level of knowledge,attitude,and practice(KAP)toward osteoporosis among Jordanian ***:A cross-sectional design was adopted in this study.A convenience sample of 443 Jordanian nurses were recruited from the public and private healthcare settings in *** assessment tool used in the current study contained 35 items,measuring KAP among Jordanian nurses toward *** correlation Pearson test and regression test were used to analyze data using Statistical Package for Social Sciences,version ***:The total KAP scores were 33.53,37.65,and 22.7,*** results revealed that Jordanian nurses have a moderate level of KAP toward ***:Jordanian nurses showed a moderate KAP toward osteoporosis,which should be improved as an effective step to reducing the growing incidences of *** lack of KAP holds a serious and growing impact on the Jordanian health sector and patients’health in terms of cost,healthcare resources,and social *** can play a valuable role in educating patients on bone fracture causes,perceived percentage,risks,and prevention,as well as in helping them with nutrition and lifestyle recommendations.

An experimental study on plunging depth of density currents

Mass density of the current flows is the one of the important problem in the hydraulics of the dam reservoir. Plunge point occurs when the mass density current penetrates in the stagnant fluid. Recognition the place of this point is very important because of clearing the boundary of the density current flow and ambient fluid. In this study the influences of bed slope and hydraulic parameters on plunging depth were experimentally investigated. The results show that the slope has a minor effect on the plunging depth. The height of plunging depth is increased by increasing the density of the current flow. Also increasing the densimetric Froude number caused of decreasing the plunging depth. Finally an equation was proposed to estimate the plunging depth using as function of flow characteristics.
