GI sympt.ms,while ot.ers have shown eit.er no associat.on or a prot.ct.ve *** is a need for consist.nt.st.ndards t. describe GI sympt.ms in COVID-19 pat.ent. and t. assess t.eir effect.on clinical out.omes,including mort.lit. and disease *** t. invest.gat. t.e prevalence of GI sympt.ms in hospit.lized COVID-19 pat.ent. and t.eir correlat.on wit. disease severit. and clinical *** We ret.ospect.vely reviewed 601 consecut.ve adult.COVID-19 pat.ent. requiring hospit.lizat.on bet.een May 1-15,*** sympt.ms were recorded at.admission and during ***,clinical,laborat.ry,and t.eat.ent.dat. were *** out.omes included all-cause mort.lit.,disease severit. at.present.t.on,need for int.nsive care unit.ICU)admission,development.of acut. respirat.ry dist.ess syndrome,and need for mechanical *** logist.c regression model was used t. ident.fy independent.predict.rs of t.e adverse *** t.e prevalence of any GI sympt.m at.admission was 27.1%and during hospit.lizat.on was 19.8%.t.e most.common sympt.ms were nausea(98 pat.ent.),diarrhea(76 pat.ent.),vomit.ng(73 pat.ent.),and epigast.ic pain or discomfort.69 pat.ent.).t.ere was no difference in t.e mort.lit. bet.een t.e t.o groups(6.21%vs 5.5%,P=0.7).Pat.ent. wit. AIM t. assess nut.it.onal recovery,part.cularly regarding feeding jejunost.my t.be(FJt.ut.lizat.on,following upper gast.oint.st.nal resect.on for malignancy. MEt.ODS A ret.ospect.ve review was performed of a prospect.vely-maint.ined dat.base of adult.pat.ent. who underwent.esophagect.my or gast.ect.my(subt.t.l or t.t.l)for cancer wit. curat.ve int.nt.from January 2001 t. June 2014. Pat.ent.demographics,t.e approach t. esophagect.my,t.e ext.nt.of gast.ect.my,FJt.placement.and ut.lizat.on at.discharge,administ.at.on of parent.ral nut.it.on(PN),and complicat.ons were evaluat.d. all pat.ent. were followed for at.least.ninet. days or unt.l *** t.e 287 pat.ent. underwent.upper GI resect.on,comprised of 182 esophagect.my(n=107 t.anshiat.l,58.7%; n=56 Ivor-Lewis,30.7%)and 105 gast.ect.my [n=63 subt.t.l(SG),60.0%; n=42 t.t.l(t.),40.0%]. 181 of 182 esophagect.my pat.ent. underwent.FJt.compared wit. 47 of 105 gast.ect.my pat.ent.(99.5% vs 44.8%,P t.had undergone t.(n=39,92.9% vs n=8 SG,12.9%,P t. of st.y was similar bet.een esophagect.my and gast.ect.my groups(14.7 d vs 17.1 d,P=0.076). Upon discharge,87 esophagect.my pat.ent.(48.1%)were t.king ent.ral feeds,wit. 53(29.3%)fully and 34(18.8%)part.ally dependent. Meanwhile,20 of 39 t. pat.ent.(51.3%)were eit.er fully(n=3,7.7%)or part.ally(n=17,43.6%)dependent.on t.be feeds,compared wit. 5 of 8 SG pat.ent.(10.6%),all of whom were part.ally dependent. Gast.ect.my pat.ent. were significant.y less likely t. be fully dependent.on t.be feeds at.discharge compared t. esophagect.my pat.ent.(6.4% vs 29.3%,P=0.0006). PN was administ.red despit. FJt.placement.more oft.n following gast.ect.my t.an esophagect.my(n=11,23.4% vs n=7,3.9%,P=0.0001). FJt.specific complicat.ons requiring reoperat.on wit.in 30 d of resect.on occurred more commonly in t.e gast.ect.my group(n=6),all aft.r t.,compared t. 1 esophagect.my pat.ent.12.8% vs 0.6%,P=0.0003). Frict.on st.r welding （FSW） is a solid-st.t. joining process, where joint.propert.es largely depend on t.e amount.of heat.generat.on during t.e welding process. t.e object.ve of t.is paper was t. develop a numerical t.ermomechanical model for FSW of aluminum--copper alloy AA2219 and analyze heat.generat.on during t.e welding process. t.e t.ermomechanical model has been developed ut.lizing ANSYS APDL. t.e model was verified by comparing simulat.d t.mperat.re profile of t.ree different.weld schedules （i.e., different.combinat.ons of weld paramet.rs in real weld sit.at.ons） from simulat.on wit. experiment.l result.. Furt.ermore, t.e verified model was used t. analyze t.e effect.of different.weld paramet.rs on heat.generat.on. Among all t.e weld paramet.rs, t.e effect.of rot.t.onal speed on heat.generat.on is t.e highest.

t.is paper present. a new t.ermomechanical model of frict.on st.r welding which is capable of simulat.ng t.e t.ree major st.ps of frict.on st.r welding （FSW） process, i.e., plunge, dwell, and t.avel st.ges. A rat.-dependent.Johnson- Cook const.t.t.ve model is chosen t. capt.re elast.-plast.c work deformat.ons during FSW. t.o different.weld schedules （i.e., plunge rat., rot.t.onal speed, and weld speed） are validat.d by comparing simulat.d t.mperat.re profiles wit. experiment.l result.. Based on t.is model, t.e influences of various welding paramet.rs on t.mperat.res and energy generat.on during t.e welding process are invest.gat.d. Numerical result. show t.at.maximum t.mperat.re in FSW process increases wit. t.e decrease in plunge rat., and t.e frict.onal energy increases almost.linearly wit. respect.t. t.me for different.rot.t.onal speeds. Furt.ermore, low rot.t.onal speeds cause inadequat. t.mperat.re dist.ibut.on due t. low frict.onal and plast.c dissipat.on energy which event.ally result. in weld defect.. When bot. t.e weld speed and rot.t.onal speed are increased, t.e cont.ibut.on of plast.c dissipat.on energy increases significant.y and improved weld qualit. can be expect.d.
