Groundwater Vulnerability Assessment for the Corridor Wellfield Using DRASTIC and Modified DRASTIC Models: A Case Study of Eastern Jordan

Groundwater vulnerability maps were created for the Corridor wellfield (~300 km2) in the eastern Jordan using the DRASTIC and modified DRASTIC groundwater vulnerability assessment models. The study area is considered as one of the most important well fields therein providing partially three governorates with the needed drinking water. Detailed geological and hydrogeological parameters as well as the land-use map of the area were obtained from various sources to utilize both models. ArcGIS software was used for calculations and maps preparation. As a result, the generic DRASTIC vulnerability index ranges between 109 and 168. Thus, two vulnerability classes were observed, moderate (9.9%) and high (90.1%) vulnerability classes. On the other hand, the modified DRASTIC model (risk map) is taking into account the land-use map classes in the study area. The output risk map reveals two main classes, the moderate and high-risk areas. The moderate-risk areas occupy 9.3% of the total volume of the study area while the high-risk areas are 90.7%. Due to the high depth to groundwater within the area (between 90 m and 390 m), the depth to groundwater intervals was modified in the model to become more comfortable with the situation in Jordan. The high percentage of the high vulnerable areas against pollutants reflects the need to do more investigation for the studied area.

背景:外科急腹症是一种突发的严重腹部症状(疼痛、呕吐、便秘等),是可能危及生命的腹腔内病变,大多数病例需要立即进行手术治疗。发展中国家的大多数研究都集中在与特定腹部问题(如肠梗阻或急性阑尾炎)延迟就诊相关的并发症上,只有少数研究评估了与急腹症患者延迟就诊相关的因素。这项研究的重点是从外科急腹症发作到就诊的时间,进而确定导致这些患者在莫西比利国立医院Muhimbili National Hospital(MNH)延迟就诊的因素,旨在研究发病率、临床表现、病因与坦桑尼亚外科急腹症患者的死亡率的关系。方法:我们在坦桑尼亚MNH进行了一项描述性横断面研究。临床诊断为急腹症的患者在6个月内连续纳入研究,并收集从出现首发症状到医院就诊时间的时间间隔和发病期间事件的数据。结果:年龄与延迟就诊显著相关,老年组比年轻组更易出现延迟就诊。非正式教育和未受过教育是导致延迟就诊的因素,而受过教育的群体则及时就诊,尽管无统计学差异(p=0.121)。与私营部门和个体经营者相比,在政府部门工作的患者延迟就诊的比例最低,但是依然无统计学差异。有家庭的患者和同居者更易出现延迟就诊(p=0.03)。值班医护人员不足、对医疗设施不熟悉、急诊处理经验不足等是导致患者手术延误的因素。延迟就诊会增加患者发病率和死亡率,尤其是对于需要紧急手术治疗的患者。结论:在坦桑尼亚等欠发达国家,外科急腹症患者的延迟就诊往往不是单一原因造成的,涉及多种原因,包括患者的年龄和家庭、值班医务人员不足以及缺乏处理紧急情况的经验,教育水平、工作部门、国家的社会经济和社会文化状况。

A Case of Infectious Mononucleosis Induced Jaundice Complicated by Possible Drug Induced Liver Injury (DILI)

In this case, a young female presented with non-specific features such as fever, sore throat, headache and fatigue. She went on to develop epigastric pain, darkening of urine and jaundice, with no resolution of prior symptoms. Physical and Laboratory tests confirmed the primary diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis, however, prior history of treatment with multiple drugs led to a diagnosis of DILI as a complication. Appropriate treatment with I.V. antibiotics, hepatoprotective agents, steroids as well as discontinuation of all potential hepatotoxic agents showed significant improvement in patients’ symptoms and overall condition.

Visible light communication(VLC),which is a prominent emerging solution that complements the radio frequency(RF)technology,exhibits the potential to meet the demands of fifth-generation(5G)and beyond *** random movement of mobile terminals in the indoor environment is a challenge in the VLC *** model of optical attocells has a critical role in the uniform distribution and the quality of communication links in terms of received power and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR).As such,the optical attocells positions were optimized in this study with a developed try and error(TE)*** optimized optical attocells were examined and compared with previous *** novel approach had successfully increased minimum received power from−1.29 to−0.225 dBm,along with enhanced SNR performance by 2.06 *** bit error rate(BER)was reduced to 4.42×10−8 and 6.63×10−14 by utilizing OOK-NRZ and BPSK modulation techniques,*** optimized attocells positions displayed better uniform distribution,as both received power and SNR performances improved by 0.45 and 0.026,*** the results of the proposed model are optimal,it is suitable for standard office and room model applications.

人们越来越多地出于与职业无关的个人原因在工作时间以外使用社交媒体。因此,企业必须确定并减轻此类行为的还良。当前的研究考察了通信、内容创建、文件共享和享乐实践如何影响也门电信部门员工的绩效。它还调查了员工承诺作为参数中的中介元素的作用。向也门电信公司的400名工人发放了一份调查问卷。只有247个样本适合分析。使用SPSS 26和AMOS 26对数据进行分析。根据分层回归的结果,社交媒体与工作绩效和员工承诺有着良好的联系。此外,员工绩效和员工承诺之间存在统计上显著的联系。研究表明,员工表现还受到谈话和在线讨论、文件共享、内容制作和享乐活动的影响。另一方面,聊天和在线对话对员工承诺有着积极而显著的影响。内容制作对员工承诺有很大影响。根据目前的研究结果,文件共享对员工承诺有良好的影响。另一方面,享乐行为对员工承诺有反面和轻微的影响。在本研究中,员工承诺显著中介了聊天和在线讨论、内容开发、文件共享和员工绩效之间的关系。然而,在目前的研究中,员工承诺在享乐实践和员工绩效之间的中介作用并不显著。聊天和讨论、内容创建、文件共享、享乐实践、员工承诺和员工绩效都体现在本研究的发现中。这项研究增加了工作表现、工作承诺和社交媒体领域不断增长的知识体系。

Visible light communication(VLC)has a paramount role in industrial implementations,especially for better energy efficiency,high speed-data rates,and low susceptibility to ***,since studies on VLC for industrial implementations are in scarcity,areas concerning illumination optimisation and communication performances demand further *** such,this paper presents a new modelling of light fixture distribution for a warehouse model to provide acceptable illumination and communication *** proposed model was evaluated based on various semi-angles at half power(SAAHP)and different height levels for several parameters,including received power,signal to noise ratio(SNR),and bit error rate(BER).The results revealed improvement in terms of received power and SNR with 30 Mbps data *** modulations were studied to improve the link quality,whereby better average BER values of 5.55×10^(−15) and 1.06×10^(−10) had been achieved with 4 PAM and 8 PPM,*** simulation outcomes are indeed viable for the practical warehouse model.

Concentrated flow erosion processes are distinguished from splash and sheetflow processes in their enhanced ability to mobilize and transport large amounts of soil,water and dissolved *** rangelands,soil,nutrients and water are scarce and only narrow margins of resource losses are tolerable before crossing the sustainability *** these ecosystems,concentrated flow processes are perceived as indicators of degradation and often warrant the implementation of mitigation ***,this negative perception of concentrated flow processes may conflict with the need to improve understanding of the role of these transport vessels in redistributing water,soil and nutrients along the rangeland *** influences the development and erosion of concentrated flowpaths and has been the primary factor used to control and mitigate erosion on *** the ecohydrologic level,vegetation and concentrated flow pathways are engaged in a feedback relationship,the understanding of which might help improve rangeland management and restoration *** this paper,we review published literature on experimental and conceptual research pertaining to concentrated flow processes on rangelands to:(1)present the fundamental science underpinning concentrated flow erosion modeling in these landscapes,(2)discuss the influence of vegetation on these erosion processes,(3)evaluate the contribution of concentrated flow erosion to overall sediment budget and(4)identify knowledge gaps.

Factors Associated with Secondary Traumatic Stress among Emergency Nurses: An Integrative Review

Background: Emergency nurses are exposed to traumatized patients as part of their job. Secondary exposure to trauma may lead to traumatic stress similar to those experienced by the primary victim. Emergency nurses develop secondary traumatic stress symptoms more than other nurses due to nature of emergency departments. The consequences of secondary traumatic stress can be noticed at personal, interpersonal, or organizational level. Objectives: This integrative review aimed to explore the literature on the factors attenuate or enhance occurrence of secondary traumatic stress among emergency nurses, to identify these factors, and to provide recommendations for research in the field. Method: An integrative literature review of quantitative and qualitative studies on secondary traumatic stress in emergency nurses were published in English language between 2000 and 2017 through the following data bases: Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), ProQuest, Medline, PubMed, Google Scholar, SAGE Journals, Wiley on Line Library, Science Direct and EBSCOhost Sources. Results: The review identified that factors associated with secondary traumatic stress can be classified into personal and organizational factors. Findings on personal factors such as age, gender, and experience are controversial, whereas organizational factors such as trauma case load and perceived organizational support were found to predict traumatic stress more than the personal factors. Conclusions: Emergency nurses are at risk to develop traumatic stress and need to be aware to the contributing factors in order to maintain their well being. Further research is required to explore the factors enhance or attenuate occurrence of secondary traumatic stress.

Factors Associated with Substance Use Disorder among Adolescents Age Group: An Integrative Review

Aim: Reviewing the existed literature that addresses the factors influencing adolescent’s substance use disorder. Background: Substance use disorder among adolescents considered a major problem worldwide that affects adolescents wellbeing and destroys their functionality socially, physically and psychologically. Data Sources: A review of relevant literature uses electronic databases including EBSCO, MEDLINE, CINAHL, and PubMed. Methods: Using an integrative method, peer-reviewed research and discussion papers published between 2011 and 2019 and listed in the CINAHL, SCOPUS, Science Direct, PubMed and Google Scholar databases were reviewed. Findings: A final review of 9 studies that used quantitative and qualitative research methods to study many factors was related to the substance use disorder. Themes were: Influence of psychological factors on adolescents. Influence of socio-cultural factors on adolescents, the influence of biological factors on adolescents and the influence of environmental factors on adolescents. Conclusions: Reviewed articles revealed that many psychological, biological, socio-cultural, and environmental factors that increase adolescents risk having substance use disorder. For example, stressful life events during adolescents like loss of someone increase the risk to take illicit substances in order to forget painful memory;personal tendency like curiosity and experimentation, increase the risk to have risk health behaviors like substance use disorder. Furthermore, adolescence is a critical period that youth need more supervision and health education to protect them from Substance use disorder.

Optical Absorption and Refractive Index Study of Ti： Al2O3 Single Crystal

The optical absorption of Ti：Al2O3 single crystal has been measured at room temperature, in the wavelength region between 200 nm and 800 nm. The main absorption peaks at 491 nm and 562 nm, the weak infrared absorption band with a peak at 650 nm and the strong UV absorption band below 300 nm were observed. The refractive index is discussed by using Fresnel＇s equation. In particular, the Sellmeier equation was determined in the visible region by means on non-conventional method based on the measurement of refraction by using UV-visible spectroscopy. The refractive indices decreased from 3.71 to 1.28 with wavelength in the range 400-800 nm.
