Synergy of remotely sensed data in spatiotemporal dynamic modeling of the crop and cover management factor

Soil erosion is a threat to the water quality constituents of sediments and nutrients and can cause long-term environmental damages.One important parameter to quantify the risk of soil loss from erosion is the crop and cover management factor(C-factor),which represents how cropping and management practices affect the rates and potential risk of soil erosion.We developed remotely sensed data-driven models for dynamic predictions of C-factor by implementing dynamic land cover modeling using the SWAT(Soil and Water Assessment Tool)model on a watershed scale.The remotely sensed processed variables included the enhanced vegetation index(EVI),the fraction of photosynthetically active radiation absorbed by green vegetation(FPAR),leaf area index(LAI),soil available water content(AWC),slope gradient(SG),and ratio of area(AR)of every hydrologic response unit(HRU)to that of the total watershed,comprising unique land cover,soil type,and slope gradient characteristics within the Fish River catchment in alabama,USA between 2001 and 2014.Linear regressions,spatial trend analysis,correlation matrices,forward stepwise multivariable regression(FSMR),and 2-fold cross-validation were conducted to evaluate whether there were possible associations between the C-factor and EVI with the successive addition of remotely sensed environmental factors.Based on the data analysis and modeling,we found a significant association between the C-factor and EVI with the synergy of the environmental factors FPAR,LAI,AWC,AR,and SG(predicted R^(2)(R^(2)_(pred))=0.51;R^(2)=0.68,n=3220,Pal factors AWC(R^(2)_(pred)=0.32;R^(2)=0.48,n=3220,Pal C-factor estimation and to monitor watershed erosion.

Receiving antenatal care via mobile clinic: Lived experiences of Jordanian mothers

Objective To understand the perceptions of pregnant Jordanian women who received antenatal care via mobile clinic,and to contribute new insights into the experiences of these mothers and how they evaluated the services that were available.Methods Ten Jordanian mothers who had received antenatal care at a mobile clinic discussed their experiences in semi-structured,audiotaped interviews in a study that adopted a qualitative research design.The analysis was done using interpretative phenomenological analysis.Results Three main themes were identified:Being informed about the medical campaign or missing the opportunity of being informed;The experience of receiving antenatal care was wonderful,although there was only one thing lacking;and they safeguard our life and take any opportunity to educate us.Conclusion Data indicate that the mothers were largely satisfied with most facets of the antenatal care services they had received at the mobile clinics.However,while services are generally well received,there are clear opportunities for ameliorating the quality of services provided.For mothers living in remote,deprived areas,outreach is not just an‘optional extra’but rather an essential service.

Objective: To study epidemiological trends related to cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) in al Hassa, an endemic area in Saudi Arabia. Methods: This retrospective study included the spatial/ temporal analysis of the reported cases of CL using the available surveillance database for the disease at the regional Vector Control Unit, from 2000 to 2010. Results: The incidence of CL was declining at a stable rate especially during the last 3 years of the study (2008-2010). An interesting finding was the percentage of expatriates affected was increasing over the last 10 years compared to that of the Saudis. Conclusions: A definite declining trend in the incidence of CL was observed in al Hassa. Further studies are warranted to assess whether special public health measures are needed for better control of CL in expatriate populations in Saudi Arabia.

The paper presents an approach for the formulation of general laminated shells based on a third order shear deformation theory. These shells undergo finite (unlimited in size) rotations and large overall motions but with small strains. A singularity-free parametrization of the rotation field is adopted. The constitutive equations, derived with respect to laminate curvilinear coordinates, are applicable to shell elements with an arbitrary number of orthotropic layers and where the material principal axes can vary from layer to layer. A careful consideration of the consistent linearization procedure pertinent to the proposed parametrization of finite rotations leads to symmetric tangent stiffness matrices. The matrix formulation adopted here makes it possible to implement the present formulation within the framework of the finite element method as a straightforward task.

In this study, we will introduce the modified (G'/G2)-expansion method to explore some of the exact traveling wave solutions of some nonlinear partial differential equations namely, Phi-4 equation, Joseph-Egri (TRLW) equation, and Calogro-Degasperis (CD) equation. As a result, we have obtained solutions for the equations expressed in terms of trigonometric, hyperbolic and rational functions. Moreover, some selected solutions are plotted using some specific values for the parameters.

In this study, we will construct numerical techniques for tackling the logarithmic Schrödinger’s nonlinear equation utilizing the explicit scheme and the Crank-Nicolson scheme of the finite difference method. These schemes will be subjected to accuracy and stability tests before being used. Efficacy and robustness of the techniques under consideration will be demonstrated using an exact solution, one-Gausson, as well as conserved quantities. Interaction of two-soliton will be conducted. The numerical findings revealed, the interplay behavior is flexible.

This paper provides a survey on modeling and theories of networked control systems(NCS). In the first part,modeling of the different types of imperfections that affect NCS is discussed. These imperfections are quantization errors,packet dropouts, variable sampling/transmission intervals, variable transmission delays, and communication constraints. Then follows in the second part a presentation of several theories that have been applied for controlling networked systems. These theories include: input delay system approach, Markovian system approach, switched system approach, stochastic system approach,impulsive system approach, and predictive control approach. In the last part, some advanced issues in NCS including decentralized and distributed NCS, cloud control system, and co-design of NCS are reviewed.
