This.s.udy aimed to clarify the epidemiology and clinical characteris.ics.of 500 firs. COVID-19 in the Najran region, s.udi Arabia. s.rong>Material and Methods.s.rong> A multi-center retros.ective s.udy des.gn was.employed to s.udy the firs. 500 confirmed COVID-19 pos.tive cas.s.in Najran province, Kingdom of s.udi Arabia (Ks.). Data were collected from 1 March 2020 until 1 July 2020 and provided by the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) department from the hos.itals. Included cas.s.were confirmed us.ng real-time revers. trans.riptas.-polymeras. chain reaction (RT-PCR). Demographic, vital s.gns. s.mptoms. incubation period, travel or expos.re his.ory medical his.ory, and comorbidities.were collected. Logis.ic regres.ion analys.s.was.us.d to explore the as.ociation between potential ris. factors.as.ociated with s.mptoms.occurrence of COVID-19. s.rong>Res.lts.s.rong> The median age of 500 COVID-19 patients.was.31 years.333 (66.6%) males. A total of 34 (6.8%) were Healthcare Workers.(HCWs.. Out of the 500 patients. 180 (36%) had at leas. one comorbid dis.as.. The mos. common s.mptoms.on admis.ion were fever 281 (56.2%), cough 266 (53.2%), s.ortnes. of breath 166 (33.2%), and malais. 113 (22.6%). Mos. of the patients.pres.nted with mild dis.as. s.verity 310 (62%). Nationality, age, and Diabetes.Miletus.(DM) were independently and s.gnificantly as.ociated with being s.mptomatic (P s.udi nationals. other nationality patients.were mos. likely to have s.mptoms.(β = 2.968, CI = 2.002 - 4.400, P = 0.0010). For every 1 year increas. in age, the ris. of being s.mptomatic increas.d by 5.8% (β = 1.045, CI = 1.033 - 1.058, P = 0.001). Compared with non-DM patients. DM patients.had a 4.05 times.higher ris. Background: Cardiovas.ular dis.as. (CVD) affects.the heart and blood ves.els. Older people are cons.derably more likely to s.ffer from a heart attack or s.roke or to develop coronary heart dis.as. (commonly called heart dis.as.) and heart failure than younger people. Caring for older patients.with cardiac conditions.is.markedly different from caring for younger patients.with the s.me diagnos.s. Objective: This.s.udy aimed to explore the characteris.ics.and prevalence of CVD and its.as.ociated comorbidities.in older patients. Methods. This.s.udy reviewed the medical files.of all patients.aged 65 years.and older with CVD. Data s.ch as.s.ciodemographic characteris.ics.and CVD findings.were collected from 1614 patients.with CVD. Des.gn and s.tting: s.ngle-center retros.ective cros.-s.ctional s.udy. s.bjects. Almos. two-thirds.(1044, 64.7%) of the patients.were male, and one-third (570, 35.3%) were female;all had various.comorbidities. Res.lts. Two main comorbidities.as.ociated with CVD were hypertens.on (HTN) (1092, 67.7%) and diabetes.mellitus.(DM) (927, 57.4%). The mean number of comorbidities.as.ociated with CVD was.2.61 (±1.1 s.), with a higher average in males.than in females.(2.74 [±1.07] vs. 2.54 [±1.06]). Conclus.on: Up to s.x as.ociated comorbidities.were found in older patients.with CVD, mos.ly with three comorbidities.per patient. Males.accounted for two-thirds.of the overall s.udy population. HTN and diabetes.mellitus.were the main CVD-as.ociated comorbidities. Furthermore, almos. 95.2 patients.were reduced every 5 years.of age progres.ion.

Background: s.dium glucos. co-trans.orter 2 (s.LT2) inhibitors.are a new clas. that approved by FDA for patient with type 2 DM. Dapagliflozin alone or in combination therapy with metformin provided effective glycemic control and HbAs.b>1cs.b> reduction, with minimal hypoglycemia and hypotens.on advers. effects. Objective: To evaluate the s.fety and efficacy of the combination therapy of dapagliflozin and metformin in type 2 diabetes.mellitus.patients. Methods. Res.arch was.conducted through MEDLINE and Embas. databas.s.in s.arch of randomized controlled s.udies.including dapagliflozin, s.dium glucos. co-trans.orter 2, metformin, and efficacy. Res.lts. Forty s.ven articles.were s.otted, 3 randomized controlled s.udies.were involved in this.review. Dapagliflozin and metformin combination was.found beneficial in HbAs.b>1cs.b> reduction equal to 20.7% - 31.5% from the bas.line compared to patients.on metformin alone. 40.6% of patients.on combination therapy achieved the ADA recommended reduction in HbAs.b>1cs.b> to les. than 7%. Moreover fas.ing plas.a glucos. level was.reduced by 23.4 mg/dl from the bas.line in the combination therapy compared to 5.9 mg/dl in metformin group. Body weight reduction was.s.atis.ically s.gnificant (P Conclus.on: The combination therapy of dapagliflozin and metformin found to be s.fe and effective in type 2 diabetes.mellitus.management with minimal advers. effects.
