A novel t(3;12)(q21;p13) translocation in a patient with accelerated chronic myeloid leukemia after imatinib and nilotinib therapy

The acquisition of secondary chromosomal aberrations in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients with Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) karyotype signifies clonal evolution associated with the progression of the disease to its accelerated or blastic phase. Therefore, these aberrations have clinical and biological significance. T(3;12)(q26;p13), which is a recurrent chromosomal aberration observed in myeloid malignancies, is typically associated with dysplasia of megakaryocytes, multilineage involvement, short duration of any blastic phase, and extremely poor prognosis. We have identified a recurrent reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 3 and 12 with different breakpoint at bands 3q21 in the malignant cells from a 28-year-old man. The patient was initially diagnosed as having Ph+ CML in the chronic phase. The t(3;12)(q21;p13) translocation occurred 4 years after the patient was first diagnosed with CML while undergoing tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy. We confirmed the t(3;12)(q21;p13) translocation via fluorescence in situ hybridization assay by using whole-chromosome paint probes for chromosomes 3 and 12. Our findings demonstrate that, similar to other recurrent translocations involving 3q26 such as t(3;3) and t(3;21), the t(3;12)(q21;p13) translocation is implicated not only in myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia but also in the progression of CML. These findings extend the disease spectrum of this cytogenetic aberration.

Preservation of Juniperus thurifera L.:a rare endangered species in Algeria through in vitro regeneration

Juniperus thurifera *** an endemic Cupres saceae from the Aure`s Mountains of north eastern Algeria and endangered,in part,due to the scarcity of viable seeds It is threatened by other abiotic factors and the lack of an effective management strategy will increase its risk o *** dearth of information on its in vitro regeneration impedes its application in forest managemen *** therefore developed a micropropagation protocol using microcuttings with auxiliary *** were grown on different combinations of media supplemented with plant growth regulators at different *** highest number of shoots and branches regenerated from original shoots was obtained on Woody Plant Medium(WPM)supplemented with 6-benzylaminopurine(BAP)(0.5 mg L^(-1))and 2,4-dichlorophe noxyacetic acid(2,4-D)(0.25 mg L^(-1)).The best elongation of shoots was achieved with WPM supplemented with0.5 mg L^(-1)of BAP and 0.25 or 1 mg L^(-1) of 2,*** the second subculture,shoots had a higher number of branches than those of the *** highest rooting rate,38.8%,was obtained with shoots cultured in 1/2 Murashige and Skoog(MS)medium supplemented with 5.0 mg L^(-1)each of indol-3-butyric(IBA)and naphthalene acetic acid(NAA).Similarly,the highest root numbers and lengths were produced on 1/2 MS medium supplemented with IBA and NAA(5.0 mg L^(-1)each).During transfer to acclimatization,rates of plant losses of 50% *** second part of the experiment showed that the best shoot callusing was on WPM supplemented with BAP and 2,4-D,with either the combination 0.5+0.25 or 0.25+0.25 mg L^(-1).The results of this research provide a starting point for further studies on in vitro regeneration of *** for the sustainable management of its unique ecosystem in the Mediterranean basin.

Two mitochondrial haplotypes in Pterochloroides persicae （Hemiptera： Aphididae： Lachninae） associated with different feeding sites

Pterochloroides persicae （Cholodkovsky） is an aphid species belonging to the subfamily Lachninae that uses different members of Rosaceae （specially Prunus spp.） as hosts. Partial sequences from the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase 1 （COI） and the nuclear long-wave opsin genes were obtained for approximately 100 P. persicae aphid individuals sampled from 34 colonies collected mainly in Tunisia and other Mediterranean locations. The variability found at the mitochondrial locus revealed the presence of two maternal haplotypes in the studied area that differed in a single nucleotide. The nuclear gene analyzed, however, failed to reveal any variability in this species. The variability found at the COI locus was related to the season of aphid sampling and with the site of feeding, with haplotype I mostly detected in samples collected in spring and summer on trunks and branches and haplotype II only detected in aphids collected in autumn on roots. The observed pattern of molecular variation suggests the presence of two clonal races of P. persicae coexisting in the studied area differentially adapted to conditions prevalent in the alternative seasons and/or to different feeding sites.

Active fault tolerant control design for stochastic Interval Type-2 Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model

Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to look at the problem of fault tolerant control(FTC)for discrete time nonlinear system described by Interval Type-2 Takagi–Sugeno(IT2 TS)fuzzy model subjected to stochastic noise and actuator ***/methodology/approach–An IT2 fuzzy augmented state observer is first developed to estimate simultaneously the system states and the actuator faults since this estimation is required for the design of the FTC control ***,based on the information of the states and the faults estimate,an IT2 fuzzy state feedback controller is conceived to compensate for the faults effect and to ensure a good tracking performance between the healthy system and the faulty *** conditions for the existence of the IT2 fuzzy controller and the IT2 fuzzy observer are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities which can be solved using a two-step computing ***–The paper opted for simulation results which are applied to the three-tank *** results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed FTC ***/value–In this paper,the problem of active FTC design for noisy and faulty nonlinear system represented by IT2 TS fuzzy model is *** developed IT2 fuzzy fault tolerant controller is designed such that it can guarantee the stability of the closed-loop ***,the proposed controller allows to accommodate for faults,presents a satisfactory state tracking performance and outperforms the traditional type-1 fuzzy fault tolerant controller.

Malaria helminth co-infections and their contribution for aneamia in febrile patients attending Azzezo health center,Gondar,Northwest Ethiopia:a cross sectional study

Objective:To assess the prevalence of malaria helminth co-infections and their contribution for aneamia in febrile patients attending Azzezo health center,Gondar,Northwest Ethiopia. Methods:A cross section study was conducted among febrile patients attending Azezo health center from February-March 30,*** sampling technique was used to select 384 *** capillary blood and stool were *** stained thick and thin blood film were prepared for identification of Plasmodium species and stool sample was examined by direct wet mount and formalin-ether concentration technique for detection of intestinal helminthes *** concentration was determined using a portable haemoglobin spectrophotometer,Hemocue Hb 201 ***:Out of 384 febrile patients examined for malaria parasites,44(11.5%) individuals were positive for malaria parasites,of which Plasmodium vivax accounted for 75.0%(33),Plasmodium falciparum for 20.5%(9| infectious,whereas two person (4.5%) had mixed species *** of malaria was higher in males(28) when compared with prevalence in females(16).More than half(207,53.9%) of study participants had one or more *** was slightly higher in females(109,52.7%) than in males(98,47.3%).About helminths,Ascaris lumbricoides was the predominant isolate(62.1%) followed by hookworms(18.4%). Only 22 participants were co-infected with malaria parasite and helminths and co-infection with Ascaris lumbricoides was predominant(45.0%).The prevalence of anemia was 10.9%and co-infection with Plasmodium and helminth parasites was significantly associated with(P<0.000 1) higher aneamia prevalence compared to individuals without any ***: Prevalence of malaria and soil transmitted helminths is high and the disease is still major health problem in the study ***,simultaneous combat against the two parasitic infections is very crucial to improve health of the affected communities

Solar Radiation Estimation Based on a New Combined Approach of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Genetic Algorithms (GA) in South Algeria

When designing solar systems and assessing the effectiveness of their many uses,estimating sun irradiance is a crucial first *** study examined three approaches(ANN,GA-ANN,and ANFIS)for estimating daily global solar radiation(GSR)in the south of Algeria:Adrar,Ouargla,and *** proposed hybrid GA-ANN model,based on genetic algorithm-based optimization,was developed to improve the ANN *** GA-ANN and ANFIS models performed better than the standalone ANN-based model,with GA-ANN being better suited for forecasting in all sites,and it performed the best with the best values in the testing phase of Coefficient of Determination(R=0.9005),Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE=8.40%),and Relative Root Mean Square Error(rRMSE=12.56%).Nevertheless,the ANFIS model outperformed the GA-ANN model in forecasting daily GSR,with the best values of indicators when testing the model being R=0.9374,MAPE=7.78%,and rRMSE=10.54%.Generally,we may conclude that the initial ANN stand-alone model performance when forecasting solar radiation has been improved,and the results obtained after injecting the genetic algorithm into the ANN to optimize its weights were *** model can be used to forecast daily GSR in dry climates and other climates and may also be helpful in selecting solar energy system installations and sizes.

Investigation on LaF_3/porous silicon system for photonic application

We present the investigation on LaF3/porous silicon （PS） system that has properties of both the materials to be applied in photonics. Epilayers of LaF3 are grown on PS under different anodization conditions using electron-beam evaporation （EBE）. The characteristics of the LaF3/PS system are analyzed by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscope （SEM）, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDX）, and photoluminescence （PL）. XRD confirms the polycrystalline nature of the LaFz film. Nearly stoichiometric growth of LaF3 on PS is established by EDX. Such a thin LaF3 layer grown on PS leads to a good enhancement of PL yield of PS. But with the increasing thickness of LaF3 layer, PL intensity of PS is found to decrease along with a small blue-shift.

Maternal betaine suppresses adrenal expression of cholesterol trafficking genes and decreases plasma corticosterone concentration in offspring pullets

Na_(0.5)(Bi_(3/4)RE_(1/4))_(0.5)TiO_(3)(RENBT,RE=Nd,Gd,Dy,and Ho)compounds were investigated in the framework of first-principles calculations using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave(FP-LAPW)method based on the spin-polarized density functional theory implemented in the WIEN2k *** charge density distribution and Ti K-edge X-ray absorption spectra reveal that the RENBT compositions with high polarization values are accompanied by a higher TiO_(6)distortion,DyNBT,and NdNBT *** effect of the rare-earth elements on the polarization is confirmed experimentally with the collection of the hysteresis *** investigation of the electronic properties of the compounds highlights the emergence of a magnetization owing to the 4f orbital effect of the rare-earth ***,the investigation of the chemical ordering shows a short-range chemical ordering for the pure composition and an increased A-site disorder for dysprosium doped NBT *** increased disorder may speak for increased relaxor properties in the RE doped compositions.
