Molecular analysis and anticancer properties of two identified isolates,Fusarium solani and Emericella nidulans isolated from Wady el-Natron soil in Egypt against Caco-2(ATCC) cell line

Objective:To characterize,identify and investigate the anticancer properties of two new soil fungal isolates,Emericella nidulansand Fusarium solani isolated from Wady el-Natron in Egypt against colon cancer Caco-2(ATCCj cell ***:Soil sample was cultured and two strains were chosen for morphological and phenotypical *** sequences of the 18s rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacer region ITS of the two isolates were amplified by *** tree construction and analysis of the resulted multiple sequences from the two fugal isolates were also carried *** vitro anticancer activity of the two strains was done against colon Caco-2 cancer cell *** transcription — PCR was carried out to detect level of expression of p53 in Caco-2 cell ***:HF.I displayed morphological and genotypic characteristics most similar to that of Fusarium solani while HF.2 was most similar to Emericella nidulans with high similarity of 99%and 97%*** multiple sequence alignment of the two fungal isolates showed that,the maximum identical conserved domains in the 18s rRNA genes were identified with the nucleotide regions of Slst to 399th base pairs,88th to 525th base pairs *** those in the ITS genes were identified with the nucleotide regions of 88th to 463rd and Slst to *** two isolates showed ICsub>50 value with（6.24±5.21） and（9.84±0.36） μ g/mL) concentrations respectively at *** transcription- PCR indicated that these cells showed high level of expression for p53 ***:The morphology and molecular analysis identified HF.1 and HF.2 to be Fusarium solani and Emericella nidulans;new isolates of anticancer producing fungi from Wady el-Natroon city in *** with the two isolates caused P53 expression in Caco-2 cell *** two isolates can be used as an anticancer agents.

Validated stability indicating methods for determination of nitazoxanide in presence of its degradation products

Three sensitive,selective and reproducible stability-indicating methods are presented for determination of nitazoxanide (NTZ),a new anti-protozoal drug,in presence of its degradation *** A utilizes the first derivative of ratio spectra spectrophotometry by measurement of the amplitude at 364.4 nm using one of the degradation products as a *** B is a chemometric-assisted spectrophotometry,where principal component regression (PCR) and partial least squares (PLS) were *** two approaches were successfully applied to quantify NTZ in presence of degradation products using the information included in the absorption spectra in the range 260-360 *** C is based on the separation of NTZ from its degradation products followed by densitometric measurement of the bands at 254 *** separation was carried out on silica gel 60F 254,using chloroform-methanol-ammonia solution-glacial acetic acid (95:5:1:1 by volume,pH=5.80) as a developing *** methods are suitable as stability-indicating methods for the determination of NTZ in presence of its degradation products either in bulk powder or in pharmaceutical *** analysis of the results has been carried out revealing high accuracy and good precision.

Rational construction of hierarchical multi-component materials with abundant heterostructure is evolving as a promising strategy to achieve excellent metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)based electromagnetic wave(EMW)***,hierarchical heterostructure WS_(2)/CoS_(2)@carbonized cotton fiber(CCF)was fabricated using the ZIF-67 MOFs nanosheets anchored cotton fiber(ZIF-67@CF)as a precursor through the tungsten etching,sulfurization,and carbonization *** from the synergetic effect of dielectric-magnetic dual-loss mechanism,the hierarchical heterostructure and multicomponent of WS_(2)/CoS_(2)@CCF also display improved impedance ***,numerous W-S-Co bands and heterojunction interfaces of heterogeneous WS_(2)/CoS_(2)are beneficial to promoting additional interfacial/dipole polarization loss and conductive loss,thereby enhancing the EMW attenuation *** on the percolation theory,a good balance between impedance matching and EMW absorption capacity was achieved for the WS_(2)/CoS_(2)@CCF/paraffin composite with 20 wt.%filler loading,exhibiting strong EMW absorption capability with a minimum reflection loss(RLmin)value of−51.26 dB at 17.36 GHz with 2 mm thickness and a maximum effective absorption bandwidth(EABmax)as wide as 6.72 *** research will provide new guidance for designing high-efficient MOFs derived EMW absorbers.

Assessment of a Non-Optical Water Quality Property Using Space-Based Imagery in Egyptian Coastal Lake

Progressively anthropogenic intrusion and increasing water demand necessitate frequent water quality monitoring for sustainability management. Unlike laborious, time consuming field-based measurements, remote sensing-based water quality retrieval proved promising to overcome difficulties with temporal and spatial coverage. However, remotely estimated water quality parameters are mostly related to visibility characteristic and optically active property of water. This study presents results of an investigated approach to derive oxygen-related water quality parameter, namely Dissolved Oxygen (DO), in a shallow inland water body from satellite imagery. The approach deduces DO levels based on interrelated optical properties that dictate oxygen consumption and release in waters. Comparative analysis of multiple regression algorithms was carried out, using various combinations of parameters;namely, Turbidity, Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Chlorophyll-a, and Temperature. To cover the wide range of conditions that is experienced by Edku coastal lake, ground truth measurements covering the four seasons were used with corresponding satellite imageries. While results show successful statistically significant correlation in certain combinations considered, yet optimal results were concluded with Turbidity and natural logarithm of temperature. The algorithm model was developed with summer and fall data (R2 0.79), then validated with winter and spring data (R2 0.67). Retrieved DO concentrations highlighted the variability in pollution degree and zonation nature within that coastal lake, as related to boundary interactions and irregularity in flow dynamics within. The approach presented in this study encourages expanded applications with space-based earth observation products for exploring non-detectable water quality parameters that are interlinked with optically active properties in water.

Modeling and Mapping of Urban Sprawl Pattern in Cairo Using Multi-Temporal Landsat Images, and Shannon’s Entropy

Cairo city, being the Egypt’s industrial and cultural center, has a problem of rapid urban sprawl. The city has an extremely high population density which is continuously increasing through informal settlements that grow by sprawling due to migration from the Nile Delta villages and the high population growth rates. The present study attempts to understand, detect and quantify the spatial pattern of Cairo’s urban sprawl using Shannon’s entropy and multi-temporal Landsat TM and ETM images acquired for the period from 1984 to 2013. Supervised classification was applied to extract the built-up areas and to measure the changes in the urban land-use class among the city wards. Shannon’s entropy was applied to model the city’s urban sprawl, trend and spatial change. The entropy values for the city’s electoral wards were modeled and used in an interpolation function to create an entropy surface (index) for each acquired temporal image. Such index indicates the spatial pattern of the urban sprawl and provides a visual comparison of the entropy phenomenon in such wards. Results indicate that Shannon’s entropy index increased from (1.4615) in year 1984 to (2.1023) in year 2013, indicating more dispersed urban growth, a sign of urban sprawl. The maximum entropy values are found in the eastern wards namely el Nozha, Awal Nasr District, Thany Nasr-District, el Salam, el Marg and el Bassatein. A regression analysis was carried for the population growth rate and the built-up areas. Findings help in understanding the sprawl patterns and dynamics among Cairo’s electoral wards and provide a visual comparison. The applied methodology provides explanations and facilitates tracing and measuring the urban sprawl which is needed by decision makers and city planners of mega cities.

Micelles as potential drug delivery systems for colorectal cancer treatment

Despite the significant progress in cancer therapy,colorectal cancer(CRC)remains one of the most fatal malignancies *** is currently the mainstay therapeutic modality adopted for CRC ***,the long-term effectiveness of chemotherapeutic drugs has been hampered by their low bioavailability,non-selective tumor targeting mechanisms,non-specific biodistribution associated with low drug concentrations at the tumor site and undesirable side *** the last decade,there has been increasing interest in using nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems to circumvent these *** nanoparticles have been developed for delivering chemotherapeutic drugs among which polymeric micelles are attractive *** micelles are biocompatible nanocarriers that can bypass the biological barriers and preferentially accumulate in tumors via the enhanced permeability and retention *** can be easily engineered with stimuli-responsive and tumor targeting moieties to further ensure their selective uptake by cancer cells and controlled drug release at the desirable tumor *** have been shown to effectively improve the pharmacokinetic properties of chemotherapeutic drugs and enhance their safety profile and anticancer efficacy in different types of *** that combination therapy is the new strategy implemented in cancer therapy,polymeric micelles are suitable for multidrug delivery and allow drugs to act concurrently at the action site to achieve synergistic therapeutic *** also allow the delivery of anticancer genetic material along with chemotherapy drugs offering a novel approach for CRC ***,we highlight the properties of polymeric micelles that make them promising drug delivery systems for CRC *** also review their application in CRC chemotherapy and gene therapy as well as in combination cancer chemotherapy.

白光LED作为第四代照明光源已经广泛应用到人们生活的各个领域,其中荧光粉是获得高性能白光LED的关键材料之一。如何用简单的方法制备高性能的荧光粉是目前研究人员的一个挑战性工作。本文采用高温固相法,加入助熔剂H_(3)BO_(3)、NH_(4)Cl、SrF_(2)、LiF和BaF_(2),成功制备了BaAl_(4)Sb_(2)O_(12)∶Eu^(2+)(BASO∶Eu^(2+))荧光粉。通过晶体结构分析、发射光谱、X射线光电子能谱(XPS)以及荧光寿命分析,表明过量的Sb_(2)O_(3)能够有效地将Eu^(3+)还原成Eu^(2+),提高Eu^(2+)在563 nm处的荧光强度约12.5倍,内量子效率(IQE)可以达到96.14%。另外,还研究了不同助熔剂对荧光粉晶体结构、荧光强度以及内量子效率的影响。本实验采用的方法简单,避免使用具有一定危险的还原性气体烧结,易于工业化应用以及降低生产成本。

Background This study aimed to develop an expert consensus regarding the epidemiology,diagnosis,and management of cow’s milk protein allergy(CMPA)in the Middle *** A three-step modified Delphi method was utilized to develop the *** specialized pediatricians participated in the development of this *** statement was considered a consensus if it achieved an agreement level of>80%.Results The experts agreed that the double-blind placebo-controlled oral challenge test(OCT)should be performed for 2-A weeks using an amino acid formula(AAF)in formula-fed infants or children with suspected ***-fed infants with confirmed CMPA should be offered a therapeutic *** panel stated that an extensively hydrolyzed formula(eHF)is indicated in the absence of red flag *** the same time,the AAF is offered for infants with red flag signs,such as severe anaphylactic *** panel agreed that infants on an eHF with resolved symptoms within 2-4 weeks should continue the eHF with particular attention to the growth and nutritional *** the other hand,an AAF should be considered for infants with persistent symptoms;the AAF should be continued if the symptoms resolve within 2-4 weeks,with particular attention to the growth and nutritional *** cases with no symptomatic improvements after the introduction of an *** measures should be *** panel developed a management algorithm,which achieved an agreement level of 90.9%.Conclusion This consensus document combined the best available evidence and clinical experience to optimize the management of CMPA in the Middle East.

Extraction Methods of Cyanotoxins Aqueous Media and Sediments

Cyanotoxins are chemical compounds produced by cyanobacterial mats grown in aquatic ecosystems. These may threaten human health and aquatic organisms. Extraction of these toxins is usually associated with many difficulties due to their concentration in aquatic ecosystems. This study is designed to provide suitable and effective extraction procedures that can effectively extract low concentration cyanotoxin from water and bacterial cells. The methodology is based on collecting raw material of cyanobacterial mats from naturally growing sites such as Wadi Gaza along with 16 liters of aquatic surrounding media. The materials were left in the Lab for 24 - 48 h for stabilization of the mats. The floating mats were collected using special funnel and allowed to air drying. The aqueous phase was extracted by liquid/liquid extraction using solvent mixture (hexane + ethylacetate 10% w:w), and by liquid solid extraction using several types of organoclays complexes. The solid phase was extracted by acetone and ultrasonic device. Results showed some difficulties were associated with liquid/liquid extraction whereas effective and easy extraction procedures were obtained by liquid solid extraction using either organoclay complex or activated charcoal. In contrast combination of both solid materials did not show improvement in the extracted cyanotoxin. Thus we recommend the use of organoclays or activated charcoal separately for extracting cyanotoxin. Further improvement of extraction can be tailored by using a specific organoclay complex that has some similarity in the chemical structure between the pre-adsorbed organic cation to the clay mineral and the chemical structure of cyanotoxin.
