Integrating Radar Altim.ters and Optical Im.gery Data for Estim.ting Water Volum. Variations in Lakes and Reservoirs (Case Study: Lake Nasser)

m.nitoring of variations in water for lakes and reservoirs is a requirem.nt for m.eting hum.n needs and assessing ongoing clim.tic changes. However, regular gauging networks fail to provide the inform.tion needed for water volum. data. The aim.of this study is to evaluate an approach to estim.te water volum. variation for the southern part of Lake Nasser in Egypt without in-situ gauge m.asurem.nts and bathym.try m.ps. Com.ination of both Hydroweb satellite altim.try and Landsat 8 satellite im.gery data was used. As com.ared to in-situ water levels, satellite altim.try provided accurate water levels variations for Lake Nasser;the Rm.E was 0.28 m. with excellent agreem.nt (R2 is 0.98). The lowest water level of altim.try database i.e. 174.57 m.was used as a reference level for estim.ting water volum.s variations for the study duration 8/2014-6/2015. All water altim.try levels were converted to differences of recorded water level above the lowest altim.try Level (ΔWL). Series of Landsat 8 im.gery data were selected to extract surface areas corresponding to radar altim.try water levels dates. Areas-ΔWL relationship m.del was established as a polynom.al function: A = f(ΔWL), and therefore, the relationship of the water volum. above the lowest water level for the study tim. (ΔV) and ΔWL was obtained through the analytical integration of (Area-ΔWL) m.del. Another approach (Heron m.thod) was also applied for estim.ting water volum. variations. Validation of these two approaches showed that estim.ted water volum. variations above reference water level using both m.thods i.e. integration and Heron agreed well with in-situ m.asurem.nts of volum. variation deduced from.recent bathym.try m.p and in-situ water levels (R2 for both m.thods = 0.98). The Rm.E for integration m.thod is 323.89 m.m.and for Heron m.thod was 318.09 m.m. being approxim.tely 13.2% of the m.an volum. variations above the lowest reference water level for m.an surface area ≈

Green synthesis of iron oxide(Fe_3O_4)nanoparticles using two selected brown seaweeds:Characterization and application for lead biorem.diation

The exploitation of different plant m.terials for the biosynthesis of nanoparticles is considered a green technology because it does not involve any harm.ul chem.cals. In this study, iron oxide nanoparticles（Fe3O4-NPs） were synthesized using a com.letely green biosynthetic m.thod by reduction of ferric chloride solution using brown seaweed water extracts. The two seaweeds Padina pavonica（Linnaeus） Thivy and Sargassum.acinarium.Linnaeus） Setchell 1933 were used in this study. The algae extract was used as a reductant of Fe Cl3 resulting in the phytosynthesis of Fe3O4-NPs. The phytogenic Fe3O4-NPs were characterized by surface plasm.n band observed close to 402 nm.and 415 nm. the obtained Fe3O4-NPs are in the particle sizes ranged from.10 to 19.5 nm.and 21.6 to 27.4 nm.for P. pavonica and S. acinarium. respectively. The strong signals of iron were reported in their corresponding EDX spectra. FTIR analyses revealed that sulphated polysaccharides are the m.in biom.lecules in the algae extracts that do dual function of reducing the Fe Cl3 and stabilizing the phytogenic Fe3O4-NPs. The biosynthesized Fe3O4-NPs were entrapped in calcium.alginates beads and used in Pb adsorption experim.nts. The biosynthesized Fe3O4-NPs alginate beads via P. pavonica（Linnaeus） Thivy had high capacity for biorem.val of Pb（91%） while that of S. acinarium.Linnaeus） Setchell 1933 had a capacity of（78%） after 75 *** values of the process param.ters for the m.xim.m.Pb rem.val efficiency by Fe3O4-NPs alginate beads synthesized via P. pavonica（Linnaeus） Thivy were also estim.ted.

A new type of hybrid discharge is experim.ntally investigated in this work. A helicon source and an electron cyclotron resonance（ECR） source were com.ined to produce plasm.. As a prelim.nary study of this type of plasm., the optical em.ssion spectroscopy（OES） m.thod was used to obtain values of electron tem.erature and density under a series of typical conditions. Generally,it was observed that the electron tem.erature decreases and the electron density increases as the pressure increased. When increasing the applied power at a certain pressure, the average electron density at certain positions in the discharge does not increase significantly possibly due to the high degree of neutral depletion. Electron tem.erature increased with power in the hybrid *** m.chanism. of these prelim.nary observations are discussed.

Botulinum.toxin augm.nted bilateral lateral rectus recession versus three m.scles surgery in large-angle interm.ttent exotropia

AIm. To report the surgical outcom.s of correcting large angle interm.ttent exotropia in adult patients by bilateral lateral rectus m.scle recession with intraoperative use of botulinum.toxin and to com.are the results with those of bilateral lateral rectus m.scle recession and unilateral m.dial rectus resection. m.THODS: The m.dical records of patients who underwent surgical correction of large angle interm.ttent exotropia [exotropia >50 prism.dioptre(PD)] were retrospectively reviewed. Two groups of patients were identified;Group Ⅰ(21 patients) had bilateral lateral recti recession augm.nted with intraoperative botulinum.toxin A(BTA) injection into the recessed m.scles and group Ⅱ(30 patients) were treated by bilateral lateral recti recession with unilateral m.dial rectus m.scle resection. Preoperative data were extracted for age, gender, refraction, type of exotropia, angle of stereopsis and angle of deviation. The m.in outcom. m.asures were the postoperative angle of deviation and stereoacuity angle by Titm.s test m.asured at the end of one year of postoperative follow up. RESULTS: By the end of the first postoperative year, 10 patients in group Ⅰ(47.6%) and 20 patients in group Ⅱ(66.7%) achieved esotropia/esophoria m.roved stereopsis;this difference in the sensory outcom. was not statistically significant(P=0.8). In the BTA augm.nted surgery group, good stereoacuity and sm.ller preoperative angle of deviation were associated with significantly higher surgical success rate(P=0.004, 0.01 respectively). CONCLUSION: BTA augm.nted bilateral lateral recti recession is associated with higher rate of undercorrection as com.ared to bilateral lateral recti recession with unilater

Octreotide am.liorates gastric lesions in chronically m.ld stressed rats

AIm.To evaluate the effect of chronic m.ld stress(Cm.) on the em.rgence of gastric ulcers and possible m.dulation by octreotide,a synthetic som.tostatin analogue. m.THODS:Adult m.le Wistar rats were subjected to nine different unpredictable random.stress procedures for 21 d,a m.ltifactorial interactional anim.l m.del for *** was adm.nistered daily for 21 d at two dose levels(50 and 90μg/kg)before exposure to stress ***-and m.croscopical assessm.nts were m.de,in addition to quantification of plasm. corticosterone and gastric m.cosal inflam.atory,oxidative stress, and apoptotic biom.rkers. RESULTS:Exposure to Cm. elevated plasm. corticosterone(28.3±0.6μg/dL,P=0.002),an event that was accom.anied by gastric lesions(6.4±0.16 m.,P=0.01) and confirm.d ***,the insult elevated gastric m.cosal lipid peroxides(13±0.5 nm.l/g tissue,P=0.001),tum.r necrosis factor-α(3008.6±78.18 pg/g tissue,Pm. protein,P=0.002).Conversely,Cm. m.tigated interleukin-10(627.9±12.82 pg/g tissue,P= 0.001).Furtherm.re,in anim.ls exposed to Cm.,octreotide restored plasm. corticosterone(61%and 71%from.Cm.,P=0.002)at both dose *** beneficial effects were associated with a rem.rkable suppression of gastric lesions(38%and 9%from.Cm.,P=0.01)and reversal of derangem.nts in gastric m.cosa. CONCLUSION:The current investigation provides evidence that exposure to Cm. induces gastric ulceration, which was alleviated by adm.nistration of octreotide possibly possessing antioxidant,anti-inflam.atory,and anti-apoptotic actions.

Intrusion Detection System.(IDSs)have a great interest these days to discover com.lex attack events and protect the critical infrastructures of the Internet of Things(IoT)*** IDSs based on shallow and deep network architectures dem.nd high com.utational resources and high volum.s of data to establish an adaptive detection engine that discovers new fam.lies of attacks from.the edge of IoT ***,attackers exploit network gateways at the edge using new attacking scenarios(i.e.,zero-day attacks),such as ransom.are and Distributed Denial of Service(DDoS)*** paper proposes new IDS based on Few-Shot Deep Learning,nam.d CNN-IDS,which can autom.tically identify zero-day attacks from.the edge of a network and protect its IoT *** proposed system.com.rises two-m.thodological stages:1)a filtered Inform.tion Gain m.thod is to select the m.st useful features from.network data,and 2)one-dim.nsional Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)algorithm.is to recognize new attack types from.a network’s *** proposed m.del is trained and validated using two datasets of the UNSW-NB15 and *** experim.ntal results showed that it enhances about a 3%detection rate and around a 3%–4%falsepositive rate with the UNSW-NB15 dataset and about an 8%detection rate using the BoT-IoT dataset.

m.neralogical and geochem.cal characteristics of stream.sedim.nts collected from.30 stations in the Dahab-Wadi Kid area(southeastern Sinai,Egypt)are *** studied sedim.nts contain considerable am.unts of heavy m.nerals,including abundant Fe–Ti oxides,with up to 25.94%index figure that m.asures the relative abundance of heavy m.nerals to light *** of the sedim.nts and nature of Fe–Ti oxide intergrowths,in addition to som. non-opaque heavy m.nerals,indicate m.ltiple provenances with contributions from.a variety of Neoproterozoic m.fic to felsic *** am.unts of heavy m.nerals are derived from.schists that belong to the so-called Wadi Kid volcanosedim.ntary *** to the considerable contribution of the felsic intrusions represented by within-plate granites,the sedim.nts are enriched in REE-bearing m.nerals(e.g.,m.nazite,cerianite,La-cerianite and allanite),V-bearing thorite,zircon,and a ZrO_(2) *** m.jority of Fe–Ti oxides are derived from.the m.fic intrusions,and they show evidence of pre-,syn-and post-depositional phases of alteration and form.tion of *** to the geochem.cal signature of the bulk silt fraction,there is rem.rkable enrichm.nt of LREEs with distinct negative Eu anom.ly,and this supports dom.nance of a provenance dom.nated by felsic intrusions(i.e.,the A-type within-plate granite and associated pegm.tites).Also,the felsic provenance is responsible for slight abnorm.lity of ∑PU+Th content(up to~37 ppm.and few anom.lous sam.les bear uraniferous zircon and Ce-type *** present paper sheds light on the fertility of the Dahab stream.sedim.nts in som. econom.c m.nerals for possible future exploitation,not for gold only,but for potential REEbearing m.nerals that are needed for a wide spectrum.of m.dern technological industries.

Atrazine（ATZ） is a known herbicide used in agriculture and caused m.ny concerns according to its ***,we have prepared NiCo2O4nanorods that can work as a photocatalyst under visible light exposure by Ag loading through a sim.le *** characterizations revealed the role of Ag for im.roving the structural,optical and optoelectronic properties of the produced *** Ag loading with 5 wt% confirm. the m.nim.zation of the bandgap from.3.6 down to 2.57 eV with enhanced visible light absorption and sustaining the m.gnetic *** Ag/NiCo2O4nanorods showed a superior photodegradation of ATZ within 20 m.n at2.0 g L-1with excellent *** enhancem.nt of the photocatalytic activity is referred to the local surface plasm.n resonance of Ag-loaded *** reduces the electron-hole recom.ination and outperform. the unloaded *** work is highlighting the application of m.gnetically separable spinel photocatalysts for the rem.val of herbicides and water rem.diation.
