Acute pancreatitis in the critical care setting:A review of assessment and intervention strategies

The incidence of acute pancreatitis(AP),a condition characterized by inflammation in the pancreas,has been increasing globally and is associated with several *** review elaborated on the etiology,clinical presentation,severity assessment,and treatment modalities of AP,mainly in the critical care *** with severe AP,as indicated by organ failure(>48 hours from onset),warrant treatment in the intensive care unit *** most common etiologies,biliary disease and alcohol consumption,and the advanced diagnostic tools used for the identification of the cause are *** severity assessment tools are utilized for grading the severity of the disease,predicting patient outcomes,determining the associated risk,and guiding treatment *** treatment interventions comprise various approaches,such as anti-infective therapy enteral nutrition,analgesics for pain,or minimally invasive surgical procedures,thereby demonstrating an evolving landscape of AP ***,various complications such as necrosis,organ failure,and hemorrhage,necessitate disease monitoring and differential diagnosis and are crucial for optimal management of *** treatment modalities and advancements in multidisciplinary care emphasize the potential for reducing the burden of AP in critical care settings.

A 56-day feeding period was performed to investigate the possible impacts of dietary nano curcumin(0,50,100,150,and 200 ppm)on the growth,nutrient utilization,non-specific immune parameters,antioxidants in Nile tilapia under chronic low temperature(21.02±0.11◦C).fishes(n=225;Initial weight=4.39±0.08 g/fish)were randomly stocked at 15 fish/tank for five experimental groups in *** low-temperature circumstances,dietary curcumin in nano form showed no notable alteration in growth variable,nutrient efficiency,digestive enzymes efficiency,biometric indices,survival rates,and hematological ***,the serum of fishes with nano curcumin diets under low-temperature stress displayed higher total protein as well as lower glucose,cortisol,and total cholesterol compared with the control ***,fish fed nano curcumin diets displayed higher lysozyme and bactericidal activities compared to the control group and the best performance was found at dietary nano curcumin level of≥100 ***,groups fed the basal diet demonstrated the poorest antioxidant capacity,and the best superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione peroxidase(GPx)existed in fish with nano curcumin diets while the best catalase(CAT)efficiency occurred at higher nano curcumin levels≥100 *** addition,higher counts of intestinal microbiota in terms of total bacterial count(TBC),total yeast and molds count(TYMC),and coliform were noticed in fish consumed the basal diet compared to groups fed on nano curcumin *** conclusion,incorporating nano curcumin at a level of≥100 mg/kg diet(particularly at 150 mg/kg)improved a non-specific immune response,antioxidant,and healthier gastrointestinal microbiota in Nile tilapia under chronic low-temperature stress.

Metabolic syndrome(MS)is a cluster of metabolic *** and MS are always accompanied by elevated oxidative stress which might affect cellular biomolecules such as *** aim of the present study is to investigate DNA damage profile in obese premenopausal women and its relation to the risk of MS,polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)and history of recurrent *** study included 90 obese women included cases with MS(nZ30),PCOS(n Z30)and previous history of recurrent preeclampsia(nZ30)and,age-matched healthy non-obese control women(n Z 50).The assessment of leukocyte DNA damage was done by comet assay for all cases and *** and biochemical parameters have been *** showed that mean percent of DNA damage was significantly higher in MS,PCOS as well as in women with the recurrent preeclampsia as compared to healthy *** high level of mean DNA damage frequency in obese women was significantly associated with the increased number of metabolic syndrome *** with 2,3 and 3e5 components showed significantly higher levels of DNA damage than ***,cases with 3e5 MS components showed significant higher DNA compared to those with the two *** PCOS,significant positive association between the mean frequency of DNA damage and waist circumference was *** study suggests that metabolic abnormalities,PCOS and recurrent pre-eclampsia might be contributed in development of DNA damage in obese *** damage can serve as an early marker for obesity complications in premenopausal women.

Objective:To characterize,identify and investigate the anticancer properties of two new soil fungal isolates,Emericella nidulansand fusarium solani isolated from Wady El-Natron in Egypt against colon cancer Caco-2(ATCCj cell ***:Soil sample was cultured and two strains were chosen for morphological and phenotypical *** sequences of the 18s rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacer region ITS of the two isolates were amplified by *** tree construction and analysis of the resulted multiple sequences from the two fugal isolates were also carried *** vitro anticancer activity of the two strains was done against colon Caco-2 cancer cell *** transcription — PCR was carried out to detect level of expression of p53 in Caco-2 cell ***:Hf.I displayed morphological and genotypic characteristics most similar to that of fusarium solani while Hf.2 was most similar to Emericella nidulans with high similarity of 99%and 97%*** multiple sequence alignment of the two fungal isolates showed that,the maximum identical conserved domains in the 18s rRNA genes were identified with the nucleotide regions of Slst to 399th base pairs,88th to 525th base pairs *** those in the ITS genes were identified with the nucleotide regions of 88th to 463rd and Slst to *** two isolates showed ICsub>50 value with（6.24±5.21） and（9.84±0.36） μ g/mL) concentrations respectively at *** transcription- PCR indicated that these cells showed high level of expression for p53 ***:The morphology and molecular analysis identified Hf.1 and Hf.2 to be fusarium solani and Emericella nidulans;new isolates of anticancer producing fungi from Wady El-Natroon city in *** with the two isolates caused P53 expression in Caco-2 cell *** two isolates can be used as an anticancer agents.

Because of the widespread availability of low-cost printers and scanners,document forgery has become extremely *** or signatures are used to protect important papers such as certificates,passports,and identification *** the origins of printed documents is helpful for criminal investigations and also for authenticating digital versions of a document in today’s *** printer identification(SPI)has become increasingly popular for identifying frauds in printed *** paper provides a proposed algorithm for identifying the source printer and categorizing the questioned document into one of the printer classes.A dataset of 1200 papers from 20 distinct(13)laser and(7)inkjet printers achieved significant identification results.A proposed algorithm based on global features such as the Histogram of Oriented Gradient(HOG)and local features such as Local Binary Pattern(LBP)descriptors has been proposed for printer *** classification,Decision Trees(DT),k-Nearest Neighbors(k-NN),Random forests,Aggregate bootstrapping(bagging),Adaptive-boosting(boosting),Support Vector Machine(SVM),and mixtures of these classifiers have been *** proposed algorithm can accurately classify the questioned documents into their appropriate printer *** adaptive boosting classifier attained a 96%*** proposed algorithm is compared to four recently published algorithms that used the same dataset and gives better classification accuracy.

Semiconductor detectors based on a silicon pin diode are frequently used in the detection of different nuclear radiations. for the detection and dosimetry of fast neutrons, these silicon detectors are coupled with a fast neutron converter. Incident neutrons interact with the converter and produce charged particles that can deposit their energy in the detectors and produce a signal. In this study, three methods are introduced for fast neutron dosimetry by using the silicon detectors, which are： recoil proton spectroscopy, similarity of detector response function with conversion function, and a discriminator layer. Monte Carlo simulation is used to calculate the response of dosimetry systems based on these methods. In the different doses of an 241Am-Be neutron source, dosimetry responses are evaluated. The error values of measured data for dosimetry by these methods are in the range of 15-25%. We find fairly good agreement in the 241Am-Be neutron sources.

The worldwide mortality rate due to cancer is second only to cardiovascular *** discovery of image processing,latest artificial intelligence techniques,and upcoming algorithms can be used to effectively diagnose and prognose cancer faster and reduce the mortality *** applying these latest techniques has increased the survival chances during recent *** research community is making significant continuous progress in developing automated tools to assist dermatologists in decision *** datasets used for the experimentation and analysis are ISBI 2016,ISBI 2017,and HAM *** this work pertained models are used to extract the efficient *** pertained models applied are ResNet,InceptionV3,and classical feature extraction *** that,efficient preprocessing is conducted on dermoscopic images by applying various data augmentation ***,for classification,convolution neural networks were *** classify dermoscopic images on HAM 1000 Dataset,the maximum attained accuracy is 89.30%for the proposed *** other parameters for measuring the performance attained 87.34%(Sen),86.33%(Pre),88.44%(f1-S),and 11.30%false-negative rate(fNR).The class with the highest TP rate is 97.6%for Melanoma;whereas,the lowest TP rate was for the Dermatofibroma *** dataset ISBI2016,the accuracy achieved is 97.0%with the proposed classifier,whereas the other parameters for validation are 96.12%(Sen),97.01%(Pre),96.3%(f1-S),and further 3.7%(fNR).for the experiment with the ISBI2017 dataset,Sen,Pre,f1-S,and fNR were 93.9%,94.9%,93.9%,and 5.2%,respectively.

Amphidinium species are amongst the most abundant benthic dinoflagellates in marine intertidal sandy *** of them are able to produce a variety of bioactive compounds that can have both harmful effects and pharmaceutical *** diversity of Amphidinium in shallow waters along the Chinese coast was investigated by isolating single cells from sand,coral,and macroalgal samples collected from 2012 to *** morphologies were subjected to examination using light microscopy(LM)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).A total of 74 Amphidinium strains were morphologically identified,belonging to 11 species:***,***,***,***,***,***,***,***,***,***,***,as well as an undefined *** last seven species have not been previously reported in Chinese *** carterae subcladesⅠ,Ⅱ,andⅣwere found in the South China Sea,while subcladeⅢwas only found in the Yellow *** body scales were observed on the surface of subcladesⅢ and Ⅳ,supporting the idea that *** might contain several different *** subunit ribosomal RNA(LSU rRNA)sequencesbased phylogeny revealed two groups(GroupsⅠandⅡ)within Amphidinium,which is consistent with the relative position of sulcus(in touch with cingulum or not).In addition,large differences in morphology and molecular phylogeny between ***(the type species of Amphidinium)and other species,suggest that a subdivision of Amphidinium might be *** pigment profiles of all available strains were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC).Eleven pigments,including peridinin,diadinoxanthin,diatoxanthin,pheophorbide(and pheophorbide a),antheraxanthin,β-carotene,and four different chlorophylls were *** high pheophorbide/pheophorbide a ratio in Amphidinium implies that it may be a good candidate as a natural source of photosensitizers,a well-known anticancer drug.
