Detoxification strategy of Microcystis aeruginosa to the toxicity of Cd(Ⅱ):role of EPS in alleviating toxicity

Although many studies have found that cadmium(Cd)can be toxic to microalgae,only a few reports focused on the role of extracellular polymeric substances(EPS)in Cd(Ⅱ)*** biochemical and physiological endpoints of Microcystis aeruginosa,including the composition and functional groups of soluble EPS(SL-EPS),loosely bound EPS(LB-EPS),and tightly bound EPS(TB-EPS),were detected to elucidate the toxicity and detoxification mechanisms of Cd(Ⅱ)for *** and physiological assays on *** showed that the 0.25-mg/L Cd(Ⅱ)resulted in a larger inhibition on growth and F_(v)/F_(m).nevertheless,Cd(Ⅱ)significantly induced much higher contents of superoxide dismutase(SOD),intracellular microcystin LR(MC-LR),extracellular MC-LR,and *** electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy confirmed that Cd(Ⅱ)was absorbed into the EPS *** transform infrared spectrum analysis revealed that the functional groups bound with Cd(Ⅱ)of algae biomass,SL-EPS,LB-EPS,and TB-EPS were somewhat *** C=O/C=n groups ofδ-lactam or protein were their prominent functional groups,suggesting that amide or proteins in the EPS played a key role in the adsorption in Cd(Ⅱ).The concentration of 0.25 mg/L of Cd(Ⅱ)may change the chemical structure of EPS by altering the production of protein-like substances containing *** study indicated that *** could detoxify Cd(Ⅱ)stress via induction of antioxidant capacity(higher SOD activity and MC synthesis),EPS production,and modification in chemical structure of EPS.

This paper investigates the age of information(AoI)-based multi-user mobile edge computing(MEC)network with partial offloading *** weighted sum AoI(WSA)is first analyzed and derived,and then a WSA minimization problem is formulated by jointly optimizing the user scheduling and data *** to the non-analytic expression of the WSA *** optimization variables and the unknowability of future network information,the problem cannot be solved with known solution ***,an online Joint Partial Offloading and User Scheduling Optimization(JPOUSO)algorithm is proposed by transforming the original problem into a single-slot data assignment subproblem and a single-slot user scheduling sub-problem and solving the two sub-problems *** analyze the computational complexity of the presented JPO-USO algorithm,which is of O(n),with n being the number of *** results show that the proposed JPO-USO algorithm is able to achieve better AoI performance compared with various baseline *** is shown that both the user’s data assignment and the user’s AoI should be jointly taken into account to decrease the system WSA when scheduling users.

Metal-free graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)n_(4))has captured significant attention as a low-cost and efficient hydrogen production photocatalyst *** regulating the microstructure and accelerating the separation of photogenerated carriers remain crucial strategies for promoting the photocatalytic performance of this ***,a novel sulfur–carbon co-doped g-C_(3)n_(4)(SCCn)hierarchical microtubules filled with abundant nanosheets inside by thermal polymerization is *** nanosheets create abundant pores and cavities inside the SCCn microtubes,thereby increasing the specific surface area of g-C_(3)n_(4)and providing sufficient reactant attachment ***,the hierarchical structure of SCCn microtubules strengthens the reflection and scattering of light,and the utilization of visible light is favorably *** importantly,co-doping S and C has greatly improved the photocatalytic performance of graphitic carbon nitride,optimized the band gap structure and enhanced the photogenerated carrier ***,the SCCn exhibits a remarkable photocatalytic H_(2)evolution rate of 4868μmol/(g·h).This work demonstrates the potential of multi-nonmetal doped g-C_(3)n_(4)as the ideal photocatalyst for H2 evolution.

The inadequate tumor accumulation of anti-cancer agents is a major shortcoming of current therapeutic drugs and remains an even more significant concern in the clinical prospects for *** strategies aiming at regulating the intratumoral permeability of therapeutic drugs have been explored in preclinical studies,with a primary focus on vascular regulation and stromal ***,these methods may trigger or facilitate tumor metastasis as a ***,there is an urgent need for innovative strategies that boost intratumoral drug accumulation without compromising treatment *** another important factor affecting drug tumor accumulation besides vasculature and stroma,the impact of tumor-associated lymphatic vessels(LVs)has not been widely *** the current research,we verified that anlotinib,a tyrosine kinase inhibitor with anti-lymphangiogenesis activity,and SAR131675,a selective VEGFR-3 inhibitor,effectively decreased the density of tumor lymphatic vessels in mouse cancer models,further enhancing drug accumulation in tumor *** combining anlotinib with therapeutic drugs,including doxorubicin(Dox),liposomal doxorubicin(Lip-Dox),and anti-PD-L1 antibody,we observed improved anti-tumor efficacy in comparison with monotherapy ***,this strategy significantly reduced tumor metastasis and elicited stronger anti-tumor immune *** work describes a new,clinically transferrable approach to augmenting intratumoral drug accumulation,which shows great potential to address the current,unsatisfactory efficacies of therapeutic drugs without introducing metastatic risk.

A polynomial resultant approach to algebraic constructions of extremal graphs

The Turan problem asks for the largest number of edges ex（n, H） in an n-vertex graph not containing a fixed forbidden subgraph H, which is one of the most important problems in extremal graph theory. However,the order of magnitude of ex（n, H） for bipartite graphs is known only in a handful of cases. In particular,giving explicit constructions of extremal graphs is very challenging in this field. In this paper, we develop a polynomial resultant approach to the algebraic construction of explicit extremal graphs, which can efficiently decide whether a specified structure exists. A key insight in our approach is the multipolynomial resultant, which is a fundamental tool of computational algebraic geometry. Our main results include the matched lower bounds on the Turan number of 1-subdivision of K3,t1and the linear Turan number of the Berge theta hypergraphΘ3B,t2, where t1= 25 and t2= 217. Moreover, the constant t1 improves the random algebraic construction of Bukh and Conlon（2018） and makes the known estimation better on the smallest value of t1 concerning a problem posed by Conlon et al.（2021） by reducing the value from a magnitude of 1056 to the number 25, while the constant t2improves a result of He and Tait（2019）.

Mountainous areas are of special hydrological concern because topography and atmospheric conditions can result in large and sudden floods,posing serious risks to water-related safety in neighbouring *** Yarlung Zangbo(YZ)River basin is the largest river basin on the Tibetan Plateau(TP),but how floods will discharge in this basin and how the role of glacier melt in floods will change throughout the 21st-century under shared socioeconomic pathways scenarios(SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5)remain ***,we comprehensively address this scientific question based on a well-validated large-scale glacier-hydrology *** results indicate that extreme floods was projected to increase in the YZ basin,and was mainly reflected in increased duration(4–10 d per decade)and intensity(153–985 m^(3)s^(−1)per decade).Glacier runoff was projected to increase(2–30 mm per decade)throughout the 21st-century,but there was also a noticeable decrease or deceleration in glacier runoff growth in the late first half of the century under the SSP2-4.5,and in the latter half of the century under the *** melt was projected to enhance the duration(12%–23%)and intensity(15%–21%)of extreme floods under both SSPs,which would aggravate the impact of future floods on the socioeconomics of the YZ *** effect was gradually overwhelmed by precipitation-induced floods from glacier areas to YZ *** study takes the YZ basin as a projection framework example to help enrich the understanding of future flood hazards in basins affected by rainfall-or meltwater across the TP,and to help policy-makers and water managers develop future plans.
