BACKGROUND: Because of an increasing discrepancy be-tween the number of potential liver graft recipients and the number of organs available, scientists are trying to create artiifcial liver to mimic normal liver function and therefore, to support the patient’s liver when in dysfunction. 3D printing technique meets this purpose. The present study was to test the feasibility of 3D hydrogel scaffolds for liver engineering. METHODS: We fabricated 3D hydrogel scaffolds with a bioprinter. The biocompatibility of 3D hydrogel scaffolds was tested. Sixty nude mice were randomly divided into four groups, with 15 mice in each group: control, hydrogel, hydro-gel with L02 (cell line HL-7702), and hydrogel with hepatocyte growth factor (HGF). Cells were cultured and deposited in scaffolds which were subsequently engrafted into livers after partial hepatectomy and radiation-induced liver damage (RILD). The engrafted tissues were examined after two weeks. The levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate amino-transferase (AST), albumin, total bilirubin, CYP1A2, CYP2C9, glutathione S-transferase (a-GST), and UDP-glucuronosyl transferase (UGT-2) were compared among the groups. He-matoxylin-eosin (HE) staining and immunohistochemistry of cKit and cytokeratin 18 (CK18) of engrafted tissues were evalu-ated. The survival time of the mice was also compared among the four groups. RESULTS: 3D hydrogel scaffolds did not impact the viability of cells. We study the Brownian motion of a single ellipsoidal particle diffusing in a narrow channel by video-microscopy measurement. The experiments allow us to obtain the trajectories of ellipsoids and measure the diffusion coefficients. It is found that the channel constraints lead to suppression of the particle motion, especially the perpendicular motion to the channel, and the long axis of the particle tends to be parallel to the channel. A stable stratification phenomenon is observed, which is rarely discussed in studies of spherical particles. We also derive an approximate solution of theoretical prediction with the method of reflections, and obtain numerical simulation results using finite element software. They are proven to be effective by comparing them with the experimental results. All of these indicate that the aspect ratio and size of ellipsoid, the width of channel, and the transverse position distinctly affect the Brownian motion of ellipsoids.

Potassium ions （K+） doped graphitic carbon nitride （g-C3N4） was prepared by a thermal etching method using potassium hydroxide （KOH） as an ion *** transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）results showed that the generation of the cyano group was detected while introducing K+.Under simulated sunlight irradiation,the sample with a K+doping amount of 10%showed the highest hydrogen peroxide （H2O2） generation rate of2,140.2μmol *** apparent quantum yield （AQY） at 400 nm and the solar-to-chemical conversion （SCC） are 4.35%and1.23%,respectively.K+acted as a bridge between g-C3N4layers,which enhanced charge transfer ***,the cyano group enhanced the adsorption capacity of protons （H+） and promoted the yield of *** catalyst exhibited excellent photocatalytic stability based on four-cycle *** addition,a mechanism study showed that superoxide radicals （·O2-）were the most important active species in the reaction *** production of H2O2was achieved through consecutive single-electron *** study deepens the understanding of the oxygen reduction reaction process and opens up a new venue for improving H2O2generation.

Effect of Noncontact Ultrasonic Technology on Solidification Quality of Electroslag Steel

A new electroslag furnace with ultrasonic vibration introduced through water-cooled base plate was de- signed and the effects of ultrasonic power on the distribution of elements, compactness and carbides in the electroslag remelting （ESR） ingots was investigated. The results showed that the distribution of elements on the entire excita- tion section changed with the change of ultrasonic power under experimental conditions. The statistical segregation of elements was minimum when the ultrasonic power was 500 W, whereas excessively high or excessively low power was not conducive to the uniform distribution of elements. Meanwhile, the compactness of ESR ingots gradually in- creased with the increase in ultrasonic power and distribution of compactness was the most uniform when ultrasonic power reached 500 W. Further increase in the ultrasonic power was not conducive to the improvement of compactness. The distribution characteristic of carbides was similar to the distribution of elements and compactness. The re- sults indicated that the ultrasonic vibration introduced through water-cooled base plate was advantageous in impro- ving solidification quality. However, this method needed reasonable ultrasonic power. Moreover, the effects of ultra- sonic power varied for different elements.

Background:RNA methylation modifying plays an important role in the occurrence and progression of a range of human cancers including hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),which is characterized by a mass of genetic and epigenetic ***,the treatment targeting these alterations is ***:We used comprehensive bioinformatics analysis to analyze the correlation between cancerassociated RNA methylation regulators and HCC malignant features in network ***:We identified two HCC subgroups(cluster 1 and 2),which had clearly distinct clinicopathological,biofunctional and prognostic characteristics,by consensus *** cluster 2 subgroup correlated with malignancy of the primary tumor,higher tumor stage,higher histopathological grade and higher frequency of TP53 mutation,as well as with shorter survival when compared with cluster *** enrichment indicated that the cluster 2 correlated to the tumor malignancy signaling and biological *** on these findings,an 11-gene risk signature was built,which not only was an independent prognostic marker but also had an excellent power to predict the tumor ***:Our study indicated that RNA methylation regulators are vital for HCC malignant progression and provide an important evidence for RNA methylation,methylation regulators are actionable targets for anticancer drug discovery.

High-intensity focused ultrasound can drive cavitation bubbles that damage soft materials.A cavitation-induced damage model is developed to study the mechanical damage of soft materials by high-intensity focused *** on the thermodynamics framework with the acoustic radiation stress theory and the nonlinear elasticity theory,an internal variable which reflects the mechanical damage caused by cavitation bubbles is incorporated into the Helmholtz free *** evolution of material damages for tissue-mimicking gel is established,which is related to the cavitation process and the mechanical dissipation from a macroscopic *** theoretical model is then applied to analyze the material damaged area observed in the experiment and the theoretical prediction is found in agreement with the existing experimental results,which shows that the damage induced by cavitation bubbles develops rapidly,then slow down and finally reaches a plateau.

The photoconductivities of a series of novel polyacetylene derivatives （PAs） serving as charge generation materials in the single-layered photoreceptors were investigated using photoinduced xerographic discharge technique. It was found that the substitution can improve the photosensitivity of PAs by increasing the conjugation of π electrons. When the substituent is itself photoconductive, the photoconductivity becomes even higher. It can be concluded from cyclic voltammetry that when the HOMO level of the polymer is closer to that of the charge transport material, the photoconduction performance will be better.
