Fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio predicts overall survival of hepatocellular carcinoma

BACKGROUND Fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio(FAR)has been found to be of prognostic significance for several types of malignant ***,less is known about the association between FAR and survival outcomes in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)*** To explore the association between FAR and prognosis and survival in patients with *** A total of 366 histologically confirmed HCC patients diagnosed between 2013 and 2018 in a provincial cancer hospital in southwestern China were retrospectively *** data were extracted from the hospital information *** optimal cutoff for baseline serum FAR measured upon disease diagnosis was established using the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)*** and multivariate Cox proportional hazards models were used to determine the crude and adjusted associations between FAR and the overall survival(OS)of the HCC patients while controlling for various *** restricted cubic spline(RCS)was applied to estimate the dose-response trend in the FAR-OS *** The optimal cutoff value for baseline FAR determined by the ROC was *** Cox proportional hazards model revealed that a lower baseline serum FAR level was associated with an adjusted hazard ratio of 2.43(95%confidence interval:1.87–3.15)in the OS of HCC patients,with identifiable dose-response trend in the *** analysis showed that this FAR-OS association was more prominent in HCC patients with a lower baseline serum aspartate aminotransferase or carbohydrate antigen 125 *** Serum FAR is a prominent prognostic indicator for *** measures aimed at reducing FAR might result in survival benefit for HCC patients.

Global existence and large-time behavior for primitive equations with the free boundary

In the present paper, the primitive equations, which can be used to simulate the large-scale motion of the ocean and atmosphere, are considered in the three-dimensional domain bounded below by a fixed solid boundary and above by a free-moving boundary. The global existence and uniqueness of strong solutions are established, and the long-time convergence to the equilibrium state is shown to be either at an exponential rate for the horizontal periodic domain or at an algebraic rate for the horizontal whole space.

Cyclohexanol optimizes Pt/ionomer interface in fuel cell cathodes

This highlight is based on a recent article published in Nature Catalysis, in which Wei's group [1] from Chongqing University proposes a novel approach to enhance the performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs)by adjusting the interface between Pt and ionomer in the cathode catalyst layer. Their strategy involves adding cyclohexanol to the cathode catalyst ink to impede the adsorption of sulfonate groups from the ionomer onto Pt nanoparticles, which results in the release of Pt activity sites and a significant improvement in the mass transport efficiency.

ZrO_(2)-strengthened porous mullite insulation materials were prepared by foaming technology utilizing ZrSiO_(4) and Al_(2)O_(3) as primary materials and Y_(2)O_(3) as an *** effects of Y_(2)O_(3) contents on the phase composition,microstructure,mechanical properties,and heat conductivity of the porous mullite insulation materials were investigated.A suitable Y_(2)O_(3) content could promote phase transition of monoclinic ZrO_(2)(m-ZrO_(2))to tetragonal ZrO_(2)(t-ZrO_(2)),reduce pore size,and improve the strengths of as-prepared *** cold crushing strength and bending strength of as-prepared specimens with a 119µm spherical pore size using 6 wt.%Y_(2)O_(3) were 35.2 and 13.0 MPa,respectively,with a heat conductivity being only 0.248 W/(m K).

Alternating shear stress is a critical factor in the accumulation of damage during rolling contact fatigue,severely limiting the service life of ***,the specific mechanisms responsible for the cyclic shear fatigue damage in bearing steel have not been fully *** the mechanical response and microstructural evolution of a model GGr15 bearing steel under cyclic shear loading are investigated through the implementation of molecular dynamics *** samples undergo 30 cycles under three different loading conditions with strains of 6.2%,9.2%,and 12.2%,*** findings indicate that severe cyclic shear deformation results in early cyclic softening and significant accumulation of plastic damage in the bearing ***,samples subjected to higher strain-controlled loading exhibit higher plastic strain energy and shorter fatigue ***,strain localization is identified as the predominant damage mechanism in cyclic shear fatigue of the bearing steel,which accumulates and ultimately results in fatigue ***,simulation results also revealed the microstructural reasons for the strain localization(e.g.,BCC phase transformation into FCC and HCP phase),which well explained the formation of white etching *** study provides fresh atomic-scale insights into the mechanisms of cyclic shear fatigue damage in bearing steels.

Childhood maltreatment and suicide ideation: A possible mediation of social support

BACKGROUND Existing literature suggests a positive link between childhood maltreatment(CM)and suicide ideation(SI).Nevertheless,whether social support significantly mediates this association remains *** To investigate whether social support significantly mediates the association between CM and *** In this cross-sectional study of 4732 adolescents from southwest China,we intended to discuss the association between CM and multiple types of *** addition,the mediation of major types of social support in this association was also investigated.A self-administrated questionnaire was used to collect the data.A series of multivariate logistic regression models were employed to estimate the association between different types of CM,social support,and *** possible mediation of social support in the association between CM and SI was assessed using the path *** Based on the cutoffs for subscales of Childhood Trauma Questionnaire,928(19.61%),1269(26.82%),595(12.57%),2337(49.39%),and 3067(64.81%)respondents reported physical abuse,emotional abuse,sexual abuse,physical neglect,and emotional neglect,*** all the social sources,parental support presented as a significant mediator in the association between emotional maltreatment,both abuse and neglect,and all three types of SI:1-wk,1-year,and *** social support mediated 5.31%and 29.23%,4.80%and 24.50%,and 7.04%and 44.42%of the overall emotional abuse-SI and emotional neglect-SI associations,*** Our findings suggest that improving parental social support might be effective in preventing suicidal risk related to childhood emotional maltreatment in adolescents.

Tunable luminescence of Bi^(3+)/Eu^(3+)-doped SiO_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3)-MCO_(3)(M=Ca,Sr,Ba) glasses for WLED

In this work,a group of Bi^(3+)/Eu^(3+)-doped SiO2-Al_(2)O_(3)-MCO_(3)(M=Ca,Sr,Ba) glasses were fabricated through melt-quenching *** structure and photoluminescence characters were studied via Xray diffraction(XRD),UV-Vis transmission spectra(TRS),excitation spectra,emission spectra and decay *** XRD results show that no nano-crystal phase forms in glass matrix with different doping concentrations of Bi^(3+)and Eu^(3+)*** regulating optical alkalinity value,the intensity of Bi^(3+)ions increases and the peak position shifts to red *** Bi^(3+)/Eu^(3+) co-doped glasses show a blue-white-yellow-red luminescence by changing concentration of Eu^(3+) *** transfer efficiency from Bi^(3+) to Eu^(3+) can reach as high as 10.54%.At 423 K, the emission intensity of 55SiO_(2)-10Al_(2)O_(3)-35BaO-0.25Bi_(2)O_(3)(GBE0.5) is 31.1% of that at 308 ***,the activation energy of the glass matrix is 0.251 *** results suggest that these Bi^(3+)/Eu^(3+) co-doped glass samples possess potential application in LED field.
