In the screening tests of drugs for silicosis in our laboratory, we found that TT, a type of alkaloid isolated from Stephania tetrandra, could inhibit the development of experimental silicosis of rats and the synthesis of collagen in rat lung. Chest X-rays of silicotic patients treaied with TT for 1-3 years showed obvious changes. The silicotic nodules became smallel and shadows became clearer. PVNO was proved to have anti-silicotic effect on animal and clinically. This presentation reports the effect of them on collagen *** blot results showed that 1 (Ⅰ) and 1 (Ⅲ) mRNA levels increased significantly at 60 and 120 days after the rats were exposed to silica dust. The mRNA levels went down at 1 and 3 months after treated by TT and PVNO. In situ hybridization observation revealed that the silver grains of Type Ⅰand Type Ⅲ collagen were scattered within the fibroblasts in cellular nodules and in thickened interstitium of silicosis tissue. The amounts of mRNA silver grains decreased in the lung tissue treated by TT and PVNO. It was suggested that TT and PVNO may inhibil the gene expression of collagen during silicosis

The stress relaxation of semi-crystalline nylon 1010 cannot be fitted by the Kohlrausch-Williams-Watts formula when the experiments were performed at pre-yielding regime below the glass transition *** study this problem and identify the two-step mechanism of stress *** short time scale,relaxation is fast,dominated by stress biased thermal fluctuation with a fixed short-range length scale(activation volume).At long time scale,relaxation is slow due to the emergence of a cooperative long-range length scale determined by the stress *** cooperative length scale is proportional to the reciprocal of stress and the amplitude of stress fluctuation is the product of stress and activation *** on this two-step mechanism,we propose a new kinetics equation to capture the stress relaxation effectively,where the short time relaxation is described by an Eyring-like local activation and the long-time relaxation is captured by a cooperative excitation process resorting to an extension from the random first order transition *** equation fits the experimental data well and can serve as a model to guide the related experiments of relaxation processes in crystalline solids.

The crystallization and melting behavior of polymers is of theoretical *** this work,poly(butylene succinate)(PBS)was selected as an example to study such behavior at low supercooling via introduction of the extended-chain crystal(ECC)of the same polymer as nucleating *** crystallization of PBS with its ECC as nucleating agent in a wide temperature range(90–127°C)and the following melting behavior were *** is revealed that the melting point(Tm',for Tc≥113°C)and the annealing peak temperature(Ta',for Tc=90–100°C)show similar asymptotic *** Tm and Ta approach to a value of ca.3.3°C higher than the corresponding Tc when the crystallization time tc approaches the starting *** is to say,the Hoffman-Weeks plot is parallel to Tm=Tc *** crystallization line became parallel to the melting line when PBS was crystallized at Tc higher than 102°*** on these results,we propose that the parallel relationship and the intrinsic similarity between the Ta and the Tm observed at the two ends of the Tc range could be attributed to the metastable crystals formed at the beginning of crystallization.

Bursting is a diverse and common phenomenon in neuronal activation patterns and it indicates that fast action voltage spiking periods are followed by resting *** interspike interval(ISI)is the time between successive action voltage spikes of neuron and it is a key indicator used to characterize the ***,a three-dimensional memristive Hindmarsh-Rose(mHR)neuron model was constructed to generate hidden chaotic ***,the properties of the discrete mHR neuron model have not been investigated,*** this article,we first construct a discrete mHR neuron model and then acquire different hidden chaotic bursting sequences under four typical sets of *** make these sequences more suitable for the application,we further encode these hidden chaotic sequences using their ISIs and the performance comparative results show that the ISI-encoded chaotic sequences have much more complex chaos properties than the original *** addition,we apply these ISI-encoded chaotic sequences to the application of image *** image encryption scheme has a symmetric key structure and contains plain-text permutation and bidirectional diffusion *** results and security analyses prove that it has excellent robustness against various possible attacks.

Soil nutrients in relation to vertical roots distribution in the riparian zone of Three Gorges Reservoir,China

Since the impoundment of the Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR), the riparian zone has been subjected to numerous environmental changes. This study was conducted to recognize the distribution of grass roots and its impacts on soil nutrients in the water level fluctuation zone of TGR. Roots of four predominant herbaceous plants in the study area, specifically, Cynodon dactylon, Hemarthria altissima, Hemarthria compressa, and Paspalum paspaloides, and their corresponding relation with soil nutrient contents were investigated. Root surface area density was determined with Win RHIZO, and the relationships of root distribution with soil depths and soil nutrient contents were studied. The results indicates that most roots are distributed in the top soil layer of 0-10 cm. Estimated root surface area density for the selected grass species ranges from 0.16 to 13.44 cm^2/cm^3, and decreases exponentially with an increase in soil depth. Soil organic matter and total nitrogen contents are significantly lower on bare control area than the corresponding values on the grasslands. Total nutrient contents on grasslands of C. dactylon and H. compressa are higher than those of other grass areas. Root length density and root surface area density are significantly correlated with soil organic matter and total nitrogen content for the four grasslands. The present results suggests that plant roots have significant effects on the distribution of soil nutrients in soil profiles in the riparian zone along the TGR. Nevertheless, additional investigations are needed to reveal the specific interactions between plant roots distribution, soil nutrients and water level fluctuations.

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of TRIP Steel with Annealed Martensite

The microstructure and mechanical properties of cold rolled TRIP steel containing C 0.2, Si 0.5, Mn 1.5, A1 1.3, and Nb-kV 0.13 （mass%） with annealed martensite （TAM steel） were investigated using optical microscopy, field emission gun scanning electronic microscope （FEG SEM）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, and mechanical testing. The mierostructure of the TAM steel mainly consisted of polygonal ferrite, bainite, annealed martensite and retained austenite. The martensite after annealing did not spheroidize, which consisted of annealed lath martensite structure and interlath second phase. Compared with the traditional TRIP steel with polygonal ferrite matrix （TPF steel）, the TAM steel has more excellent elongation rate over 32%. The TAM steel also has better strain hardening behavior than the TPF steel. The excellent elongation and strain harden- ing behavior of TAM steel result from high retained austenite stability of the TAM steel, which is attributed to its fine distribution and medium strength ratio of second phase to matrix.

A gouging phenomenon with a hypervelocity sliding electrical contact in railgun not only shortens the rail lifetime but also affects the interior ballistic performance. In this paper, a 3-D numerical model was introduced to simulate and analyze the generation mechanism and evolution of the rail gouging phenomenon. The results show that a rail surface bulge is an important factor to induce gouging. High density and high pressure material flow on the contact surface, obliquely extruded into the rail when accelerating the armature to a high velocity, can produce gouging. Both controlling the bulge size to a certain range and selecting suitable materials for rail surface coating will suppress the formation of gouging. The numerical simulation had a good agreement with experiments, which validated the computing model and methodology are reliable.
