The Entrance Exam of the Universities （EEU） in Iran is a competitive high-stakes test that affects all the test stakeholders, the curriculum and the whole educational context. This effect, positive or negative, is literally called washback. This paper aimed to report the findings of a study on the Iranian parents’ perceptions of the EEU. To this end, a survey questionnaire including 24 items was developed based on two main themes of parents’ activities at home to help their children pass the EEU and parents’ direct attitudes towards the EEU. The questionnaire was randomly administered to 30 Iranian parents whose children were in pre-university level. The results indicated that the EEU directly and negatively influences the Iranian parents and their children. Although the majority of the surveyed parents have a negative attitude towards the high-stakes exam of the EEU, they do whatever they can to help their children cope with this exam. The findings also justify the necessity of conducting research studies on the other stakeholders of this high-stakes test.

The Entrance Exam of the Universities （EEU） in Iran is a multiple-choice high-stakes test that affects the teachers,students,parents and other *** EEU is designed to screen the high school graduates for admission into higher *** study aimed to explore the impact of this high-stakes test on the Iranian high school English *** achieve the aim of the study,a validated survey questionnaire was administered to stratified random sample of 132 high school English teachers who were teaching in the five main educational districts in the city of Isfahan,*** data analysis revealed that little attention was given to three language skills of speaking,writing,and listening in the classroom as these skills are not tested in the ***,the EEU negatively and implicitly influences English teachers to teach to the test format.

Long-term follow-up of intravesical abobotulinumtoxinA (Dysport®) injections in women with idiopathic detrusor overactivity

Objective:Only a few numbers of studies have been published on the use of abobotulinumtoxinA(Dysport®)in idiopathic detrusor overactivity(IDO).This study reported the long-term follow-up of women with IDO who were treated with intravesical Dysport®***:Two hundred and thirty-six patients with IDO who had failed first-line conservative and antimuscarinic therapy received 500-900 units of Dysport®between April 2014 and July *** patients were followed up for 5 years after their initial injection and interviewed on the ***:A total of 236 women with IDO aged from 18 years to 84 years(mean±standard deviation:49.6±15.9 years)were included in our *** median follow-up time for patients was 36.5(range:10-70)months,and the median recovery time after injection was 18.5(range:0-70)months.A total of 83(35.2%)patients stated that they had subjective improvement of their symptoms whereas 84(35.6%)patients did not report any improvement in *** initial International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Overactive Bladder mean score was 6.9(standard deviation 3.4).There was a positive association between the median recovery time and the components of the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Overactive Bladder ***:In a sub-population of overactive bladder patients with IDO who have failed first-line therapy,a single intravesical Dysport®injection can resolve patient symptoms completely or reduce the symptoms to an acceptable level that can be controlled with antimuscarinics or re-injection on demands.

Water resources are considered as one of the main resources of supplying water for different uses including agriculture, drinking and industry. Due to the recent droughts, knowing and giving qualitative priority to the pollutants of these resources is one of the most important tasks in environmental management. The use of new models in water resources has an important role in the management of these resources. With a brief look at the condition of Iranian Taleghan catchment basin, we understand that the increase of population and raising the public welfare result in changing the land use and threat the natural resources and their reserves. This study aims to employ Expert Choice Software to give priority to different pollutants based on the type of the land use in the basin. In this research, Expert Choice Software was used to identify and classify pollutants in Taleghan catchment. This software works based on Analytical Hierarchy Process. The obtained results showed that sewage, agriculture, outdoor activities, industry, toll services, and restaurants respectively have the highest potential for polluting the basin. The employed model in this study can combine the comments and opinions together in great detail and high precision. The model can also determine the priority of effective variables on the pollution of water resources based on the kind of land use.

Mathematical model for iron corrosion that eliminates chemical potential parameters

Iron corrosion in acidic media is a natural phenomenon that converts elemental iron to a more chemically-stable form,*** oxide and *** this study,the iron corrosion process is modeled as a completely implicit problem,solved by a novel finite difference model to provide insight into the ionic aspects of corrosion *** new mathematical model eliminates the chemical potential parameters from the corrosion process equations,thereby reducing the need for experimental determination of chemical *** eliminatedchemical-potential-parameters model predicts and quantifies key parameters(concentrations of conjugate base ion,iron(Ⅱ)ion,hydrogen ion,anodic and cathodic potentials,and the electrical current density)associated with the iron corrosion process in acidic *** rigorous derivation and novel application of the eliminated-chemical-potential-parameters model and its results provide new insights into the iron corrosion *** present model is also applicable in any industrial process which is associated with metal *** model helps to guide the design of future corrosion resistant systems,and various experimental studies pertaining to corrosion inhibition techniques.

Simplified microsatellite instability detection protocol provides equivalent sensitivity to robust detection strategies in Lynch syndrome patients

Objective:Germline mutations in mismatch repair(MMR)genes cause Lynch syndrome(LS).LS is an inherited disease,and an important consequence of MMR deficiency is microsatellite instability(MSI)*** phenotype influences the efficacy of5 fluorouracil(5-FU)***,cost effective,and easy to perform laboratory tests are required to include MSI detection in routine laboratory *** of CAT25 as monomorphic short tandem repeat sequence enables CAT25 to be an efficient screening tool among hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer(HNPCC)patients compared with other methods used ***:Based on Amsterdam II criteria,31 patients in 31 families were shortlisted from a total number of 1,659 colorectal cancer *** status was examined in these patients using CAT25 and a commercially available Promega MSI five-markerbased detection system as well as immunohistochemical(IHC)staining of four important MMR *** were scored as high microsatellite instable(MSI-H),low(MSI-L),or stable(MSS).MSI status determined by CAT25 single mononucleotide marker was compared with that of five mononucleotide markers,Promega commercial kit,and IHC ***:MMR protein deficiency was observed on 7/31 probands using IHC methodology and 6/31 categorized as MSI-H using commercial kit or CAT25 single *** sensitivity and specificity of the CAT25 single marker were the same as those detected by five-marker Promega commercial kit in our ***:Based on our results,the performance of the CAT25 single mononucleotide marker for MSI status determination in our HNPCC patients is the same as that of the five-marker-based commercial kit.
